    I find if I bray onto the distress ink pad to lift up some ink onto the brayer then put it onto the gelli plate by braying it on I get a very light even coat of ink. I love your ideas and the cards came out beautiful.

    Many of us, myself included, will never be able to blend ink smoothly, no matter what kind of daubers or blending brushes we use. I've pretty much given up on doing it that way. It's just not that easy to get good results. But using a brayer and the gel press, it's possible to get much better results, more easily. Thanks for giving us some great ideas for using these blends to make some beautiful cards.

    I’ve found that a larger brayer also makes for a smoother blend. For example, a 6” brayer on a 5x7 plate barely leaves any lines, Bc you only need to shift it a bit to blend the colors. No edges.

    I was told that a new gel press often makes bubbles or otherwise doesn't roll smooth. Its called blooming and will go away with use. My friend said to take advantage of the serendipitous look.

      I stand corrected. I thought you meant the gel plate itself bubbles but you mean the ink bubbles up. Yes it does depending on the type of ink.

    One more question, is a foam brayer or rubber one better for this technique? Thx..

    • @jennifermcguireink
      @jennifermcguireink  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried a foam one. I like the rubber one because the ink doesn't seep in to the brayer and affect how much ink is being applied. But if you have one you can certainly try it.

  • @fuzzylimefairy
    @fuzzylimefairy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, do you make your own envelopes, or are those store purchased? Also I'm having trouble measuring the background paper and the note card, how do you do that? I'm new at making cards.

    • @jennifermcguireink
      @jennifermcguireink  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mostly use store purchased ones because there are some sizes and pretty colored ones available now. But I do make them sometimes. To get an A2 sized card? Take and 8.5 X 11 piece of cardstock and cut it in half and fold it. If you cut lengthwise you get a top folding card base. If you cut the other way you get a side folding card base. To get the front of the card base just cut the sheet in fourths.
