Hi, Just moved from there about 5 years ago. Was a nice little town. I so remember back in the 50's when they would decorate for Christmas. It was so beautiful. Now it's just the same ole same ole. Maybe a candy cane stuck on a pole and a Merry Christmas flag. Really miss the Christmas decor.
I have a lot of family on my paternal side my dads dad and mothers side I’m a collier my cousins owned colliers jewelers I never lived here i have visted a lot and it brings me back some good memories it’s made me cried some tears and everything in between it isn’t much but it’s definitely a good community.

I grew up here (ages 4 to 11; I’m 29 now) and soooo many of my favorite places I used to go to/memories from generations of my family are captured in this very video! I shook Bill Clinton’s hand while sitting on my grandpop’s shoulders at that train station in town, and Ed’s grill is where we’d go get chili dogs and burgers - that Walmart parking lot used to be one of the best hangout spots in town! The nostalgia this one video has brought me is incredible & I appreciate you taking the time to document it. After years, you’ve inspired me to take a trip back to visit!

I'm 45 lived here since I was 12 from Plainfield n.j...I worked on several of the building downtown..and around town..had three daughters here I cant complain..so being born in such a place like Plainfield with history and culture..I still dont appreciate this town any less..

If you’re in to the small town atmosphere, you shouldn’t be disappointed, I spent many years in a small town in WV. The people are easy going & friendly, that can make a world of difference.. Best wishes in all your new endeavors !
Good job! Looking for my final retirement area. Unfortunately for such a small place Whiteville has way to much crime per the local news. Sad Shoplifting, indecent exposure etc.
Hey I'm a local born n raised in Whiteville, it is a pleasure to have you take note of our little piece of NC. It ain't much but theres lots to explore. But it isn't safe, thats one of our main issues with Whiteville, but luckily with a new highschool bein built maybe things will turn around and with more business comin through.

What makes it unsafe?
The crime level had risen in the area mostly due to drugs.. I personally enjoyed our time there with no issues whatsoever..
