  • Hi Everyone! Thanks for stopping by. If you enjoyed my ramblings please like and subscribe so we can hang out again!
    Once a month I am allowed to visit our local walk through food bank. We are able to “shop” what we can use and leave what we can’t. It is such a help to our family and we are truly blessed.
    So many more are needing help with food, do not be ashamed to also need help. Here are some resources to help you find help in your area:
    Call 211

    If this is your first time, my name is Laura and I am always wearing my frugal pants! We are a family of 5. We have too many pets to count who often make an appearance in some way. I also cannot promise there will not be loud sounds in the background…mom life.
    On this channel you will find food pantry hauls, cook with me videos, organizing and food prep. I am beyond awkward and ramble a little too much but hope this is your style and you keep coming by!

    Wow. You did good. It's great that they allow for your large family size. At the ones I go to they want everyone to get the same. They get mad at me for sharing the food that I can't eat with the young moms.

    Great haul. I use a food share where I live. Our food bank doesnt ask about income. We just ,ist our name and how many are in your family along with zipcode. Our food bank helps every age group. We open every week on Wednesdays and Fridays and clients come every two weeks. Groceries are so expensive ut is hard for families to get enough food and the struggle is overwhelming for a lot of families. There is no shame in getting help.

    • @FrugalPants

      Some of them don't ask income and some are even more strict on the requirements. It's really interesting how each can different so much in the same area.

    laura, you really got some great food from the food bank. how can people be so greedy - grabbing more than allotted. the banks are there to help everyone but if people grab extras, things run out. thanks for helping people to understand what a food bank and how to "shop" them. btw, i have big issues with gluten free oreos. they disappear waaaaaay too fast here.

    If the volunteers realize that is happening they may have no choice but to stand by all the food sections making sure people are being honest. It's a shame though because like you say others went without while they have more than enough.

    What a haul. I'm headed to a small pop up pantry. I've been a few times that people do that. We stand in line to go along tables to pick things up. Once there was a lady that stood in line and when it was time to shop 4 more people came up to go with her. So rude.

    If you haven't put that garlic in the freezer yet lay it out on a tray with parchment or plastic so they are not a big clump. Then you can put them in a container and take out a couple clove when you need them.

      Also, those Desseret Farms things are usually really good quality! AND...do you think that the people taking all the treat bags thought it was one per household member instead of per family? Maybe the pantry workers need to clarify?

    • @FrugalPants
      @FrugalPants  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! great idea about the garlic. I don't think so. Every person is given a red, yellow or blue card when you come in. Then in every section there are red, yellow and blue squares with a number. You look at correlating square and that that number. I noticed they did this when the treats/meats/and dairy. The items that are more limited.

    First I want to comment on your story about the 2 people or whoever that took more of those candy bags then they should have. But I also believe you said a woman told you that you could take whatever it was. What makes you so sure that someone didn’t tell them they could take more. Or they were there for themselves and someone in the hospital but the family still needed to eat. You don’t know what’s behind closed doors. Most people can’t even afford everyplate like you do. So stop judging. You got your bag. Are you jealous you didn’t get that many. Not a nice picture that you showed.

    • @FrugalPants
      @FrugalPants  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100% not jealous of anyone else getting more candy than me. That's ridiculous. And I can't afford Everyplate at its normal rate, which was what the whole series was about. If someone told them they could have more then great, however, I know no one did because I was 2 feet from them and there wasn't staff in that section. I don't think saying that following the rules is important is being judgmental or painting a bad picture. I'm not sure if this is the only video you have watched. If it is, I would suggest getting a better picture of me, because I think you're not really seeing me.
