I've worked in plenty of warehouses around Swindon doing temp work when I was a teenager, and another 6 month stint when I was about 30 and I was incredibly struck with the difference in work ethic between the immigrant workers (mainly Polish and Goan) and the locals (which I am). My overwhelming impression wherever I went was that the immigrants were cheerful, punctual, polite and they grafted hard. The British workers were lazy, rude, unreliable, scruffy, unclean, poor attitude etc. So it does make me laugh when locals whinge that immigrants have "nicked" jobs they are incapable of getting, keeping or have been sacked from. The world doesn't owe you a living mate, you have to turn up on time and actually do the work, it's not difficult. Edit: also, well done for making Swindon look even more bleak and depressing than it actually is, I didn't think that was possible 😂
I can relate to that. Same here in germany. Some of my fellow germans think they are entiteled to their job and their higher-ups should be thankful that they are showing up to work and do the bare minimum to just not get fired.
It's wrong to judge people by where they're from...... but in my experience, I think you're right. It makes sense anyway; one set of people travelled across the world leaving god knows what behind and are probably just happy to be making a decent living. The other set of people took the bus to work and probably shared their journey on TikTok - that's what usually happened at my work.

If any of them are curious about what is happening to them, remind them that under capitalism profit seeks the lowest cost of labor and materials and via brexit we made ourselves a lot more expensive to deal with, the only reason Honda & others have stayed for as long as they have is we the tax payer have been bribing them stupid for 30 years via tax breaks and subsidies to keep a sliver of their production here in the UK where even before brexit it was helishly expensive to produce anything compared to the likes of say Vietnam where you can hire a PhD engineer for half the cost of a cleaner in Hackney. You can also remind the passing soon to be unemployed bacon muncher, that had he or she have voted for Corbyn, even if Honda or other companies went, their jobs would have not only been secured, but the entire factory with all its tools and equipment would have become theirs to own and operate as a democratic co-operative and retooled to produce other things of need for the national economy and export. Here is the policy that now will never see the light of day, which incidentally was the entire reason for brexit, with one foul deed the capitalist classes not only got rid of swathes of pro worker legislation, but they divided a nation against itself and put their media to work on the same, in order to prevent the masses getting behind one man and this policy, because quite simply, it was and remains the greatest threat to capitalism in its 400 year history, we call it democracy, that thing capitalism prevents in 70% of life spent at work then the capitalist minority tell all to blame "insert minority/and or foreigners" with no money and power being exploited equally next to them for its results. Brexit was the wrong answer to the wrong question. The question has always been about class and innequality. Brexit isn't going to stop there being "foreigners" and it won't deal with innequality. Someone needs to be honest and say that. Also we need address the causes of racism which we never want to do. Also if the workers of Honda could have also been shareholders as well they would have had more sway. They would have also understood the threat that Brexit would have on their jobs.
@@Danc1978 I beg to differ. I have learned and experienced your history as you call it all my life. I learned that narrow nationalism cost a lot of lives and the idea behind European Community was to stop that.
@suburben yobbo I'm not ignoring white people and it wasn't only white people who voted leave. I'm saying let's have an honest conversation about race and why white people feel they are victims of racism. My take is that it's a class issue. White middle and upper class people do not feel under threat because they can afford to live in areas where people who are working class whether whatever ethic group can't afford to live. Also they have careers that are not under threat from imigration. But the opposite is true in working class areas which is why you get a racial backlash in these areas. Plus English identity amongst working class people because upper classes kept the working class in their place but used their muscle to fuel an industrial revolution and build an empire that the upper classes benefitted from. They did this through by telling working class people that being British meant they were better and smarter and that everyone else was below them. So they colonised 1/4 the earth to make the elites even more rich. But in order to make Black and Brown people serve the empire they told them they were British as well and invited us in to work here. But not in the upper class areas we went to the working class areas who had been taught all their lives they were better than foreigners and promised that although they weren't going to share in the wealth they had created they would be looked after from the cradle to the grave. So of course against that backdrop you are going to have resentment from white English working class people to people who are not white even if they are 2nd 3rd generation. It's sad but there you have it. I was born and grew up in a white English working class area of East London that isn't any more. And noone wants to have an honest conversation about that which is why we get to Brexit. Where people don't really care more about stopping imigration than the economy because they never get a fair deal even when it is going well. What they care about is being able to feel English in what they feel is a country that is theirs. But middle and upper class people don't get that narrative. They forgot that was what they fed working class people to focus on foreigners rather than people power who have been exploiting them for centuries. But because they are "English" its people who like me who look foreign are the ones supposedly the problem. But I probably wouldn't be here if Britain hadn't come to Ghana to get Gold, cocoa and slaves. I'm not saying that any British or English person alive today is to blame for that but neither am I. Anymore than EU citizens are to blame for freedom of movement.

It really is very derelict... but it wasn't in that state prior to us joining the EU. These people voted for change, it's as simple as that. Can't argue that they did or didn't grasp the nuances, because the only difference to them are decisions that affect them being taken by those who are nearer or further from reach. The loss of Honda can also be attributed directly to the EU's trade deal with Japan. Honda did not relocate production to the EU, it relocated it to Japan because of the deal the EU did prior to Brexit. Honda made its decision literally as this deal came into force, a deal that was being negotiated prior to the referendum even being announced. People in Swindon aren't stupid, they know full well the EU never had their interests at heart and were ready to forego their livelihoods in favour of globalist ideology.

Being the director of an engineering business not eight miles from the Honda factory you would think that when we expanded we would have seen ex-Honda employees applying for jobs with our company. But No ! Not one ex-Honda applied with around 90% of our expanded workforce being immigrants. The sad fact is the English don’t want or are not trained to work in the engineering sector and for this we have the schools system to blame as the education sector only sees university education as a success and vocational training as the only resort for the failures. My view is the education sector are failing young people by sending them to further education that has little practical use in the workplace and leaves then with big university loans to pay off having gained a qualification with zero commercial value.

I'm immigrant. I work in one of the warehouses in Swindon. Once i asked a manager that why do they employ so many foreigners? He said because foreigners at least turn up. They wont fail the first drug test. He said it's hard to rely on people who have their whole family stoned since 3 generations back. He also said they prefer immigrants (europeans) because those people usually more educated, usually they have some kind of qualifications but due to the language barrier they are kind of forced to do low level jobs like warehouse or assembly line. While those native people who chose these jobs usually have no qualifications at all, they can barely read and write or understand rudimentary tasks. Since the brexit the EU workers stopped coming and many of them left England, while a lot of indian, black african and others turned up, much worse forkforce than the polish or other europeans. Swindon has changed a lot in the past few years. It's hard to see white people in the town centre. Shops closed, and the whole place deteriorated.
Why/how am I subscribed to this channel? Impressive that you completely paint over the true motive for the Honda closure a free trade deal signed between Japan and the EU. Why should a Japanese company under those circumstances invest further in a foreign plant when it can be done domestically with no barrier to trade? Not one, single reference to this important point in the entire film. Also worth nothing that honda just doesn't have the market share in Europe to even warrant a production capability. In the region. The sad truth is that honda have been winding production down gradually in Swindon for years from producing 4 models on two production lines 2014 to one model on one production line in 2018. Again, facts casually left out of this peice. Pols have been an important part of Swindon for decades, decent, hard working and upstanding citizens of Swindon, I think you'd find if you bothered asking people in Swindon you'd find very little animosity however you'd only need to walk through the centre of the town to see that immigration and the subsequent lack of intergration hasn't worked and that's left people soured, who can blame them? As for Swindons future, it's seen big job. Losses before, it can weather them again, and despite the film's portrayal of the town it suffers some of the lowest crime rates in the UK per capita and has a better standard of living than most of its larger counterparts. Its a place where people work hard and get on.
Interesting about the free trade deal between the EU and Japan being the real reason behind Honda's relocation. It doesn't surprise me. The video seemed like slick propaganda in general. I am almost certainly a lot more 'tinfoil' than you, but I have a suspicion that the guy saying, he didn't vote out of apathy, but if he did, he would have voted out because he didn't like foreigners, but now he would vote stay because industry's leaving... was all scripted. It all seemed just too neat somehow. I can't say for certain in this instance, and he could just be a complete idiot, but I think that's largely how the world works (*cough* -Jo Cox). I do think there are elitist interests behind too though - the SPERI report on how the City of London is robbing the country blind provides some clues on that. I still think that on balance Brexit is a good thing, and all this stuff about how we have to appease the EU and seek a 'deal' before we leave is provable nonsense. In general, the Remain propaganda is so constantly irritating that it alone would be enough to persuade me to support the Brexit cause. On a subjective side-note, I agree that Poles are generally pleasant people - Romanians, not so much (imo).

Honda Europe boss Ian Howells says the decision to close Swindon was driven by big changes in the car industry. ... Honda said the move was due to global changes in the car industry and the need to launch electric vehicles, and it had nothing to do with Brexit. As Honda pointed out themselves, the automotive market is increasingly moving its focus towards electric cars, while moving away from diesel - the type of engine the Swindon plant manufactures. In fact, Honda's sales have been struggling in general across the European market. In the last decade, sales have almost halved.

Swindon looks like that from decades of being in the EU, it was a boom town prior to the EU and is one of the places that is likely to benefit from Brexit as the focus moves from EU distribution to UK distribution, where Swindon is very well placed as a central and well connected point. It's the reason a lot of companies that operate over a vast area of the UK use it as a base of operations. Honda left not just the UK, but Europe as a whole thanks to a deal the EU did with Japan allowing them to sell cars into the EU tariff free. Also, if they'd had the benefit of quick decisions instead of years of slimy politicians trying to overturn the referendum or keep us in the EU by the back door causing years of uncertainty, they might have even decided to stay. A lot of damage was done during the Brexit process, but a lot of that damage was done by people in power who actively work against the UK's best interests in the name of their globalist ideology. The fact is Swindon had it better prior to the early 2000s and has been on a downward and decaying trajectory ever since then, except for the big employers using it as a worker pool the place was essentially a forgotten backwater with all eyes towards London and Europe. That is finally starting to change and these towns might now start to actually have some attention paid to them to improve their situations and living standards; and if we can work on making transport in the UK affordable and efficient, these towns sub-1hr on the outskirts of London will once again be a brilliant pool of labour serving London and the South which is what they once were prior to being undercut by EU migrant workers. The £10k+ cost of season tickets for a 55 minute journey are a big problem.
@@alexanderhowcroft8779 They have the potential and capacity to improve, but the politicians just need to know what they're doing and have the will to implement gradual improvements. I can tell you that Swindon is nowhere near as dire as this show makes and has a large middle class as well, Honda is a major employer of around 1.5% of the population, which likely supports up to 10% of the population. It's not insignificant at all, but the job losses are being mitigated in a number of ways already, and Honda is not the only manufacturer in Swindon, it is also home to a BMW plant producing Minis which is in the process of rebuilding bigger facilities, and there is room for further growth. The biggest problem Swindon has is not the loss of any single large employer, but the politicians that are running the town. They have become too comfortable, being voted back in time and again despite doing nothing for the town while seeing it decay. With the right set of ideas and policies, Swindon could boom again, such as with incentives for start ups to base themselves there for various tax incentives. They want to become tech focused, and are very well placed to do so with ample technical knowledge available and lots of available office space in usable condition. The problem is the tax they want is through the roof, which is ironically not very conservative at all. They've got themselves stuck in the cycle of greed over growth, with parking charges keeping people away from the town centre while it has a lack of footfall, high business rates causing shops to remain empty despite rents being affordable, and very poor planning decisions such as the introduction of probably the only large scale supermarket in the country where you had to pay to park, in a town full of supermarkets with free parking. It didn't stay open very long. Swindon is well placed geographically for distribution of goods which it does well, but at the same time it's very well placed for hosting regional attractions such as theme parks or large scale leisure and events centres, with direct rail links across the south including from London in under 1hr, and being directly connected to the M4. The land is cheap, hotels are aplenty already, and there's large amounts of land next to the station which are prime for such a scheme. The potential is huge, it just has to be realised. The place to start is to talk the place up, and that's what the politicians should be doing. Talking a place up or down is everything when it comes to success, if you talk a place down how are you ever going to make it better?
You say this like national politics didn’t exist during that entire time and that we didn’t have governments with the power to invest and disenfranchise in equal measure and instead had Junker and Co in the commons? There comes a time when you have to live with the consequence of that fantasy.

Xenophobia, (not racism, you are too stupid to even know which of your hates is at stake) has a price and is time to pay the piper!!!
Not everyone pal. Most people I know do not work in any of those firms.

@suburben yobbo yes I understand all of that but that isn't going to stop the tariffs and trade complications of a no deal Brexit
@@Danc1978 our history is intertwined I just did a long post explaining it. But in a nutshell Dan I wouldn't have been born here if your history had not included conquering my ancestral home and claiming the land and people as "British" Not your fault mate but not mine either so here we are.

Can't argue that they did or didn't grasp the nuances, because the only difference to them are decisions that affect them being taken by those who are nearer or further from reach. The loss of Honda can also be attributed directly to the EU's trade deal with Japan. Honda made its decision literally as this deal came into force, a deal that was being negotiated prior to the referendum even being announced. But No ! Not one ex-Honda applied with around 90% of our expanded workforce being immigrants. Swindon isn’t any worse than other places up and down the M4. If you want to know why Swindon looks a dump, look no further than SBC.

Brexshit is against the national interest. Simple as.
These towns are not going to improve, you are insane mate
@@therealrobertbirchall That's a very compelling argument you make.
There comes a time when you have to live with the consequence of that fantasy.
oh my god does he seriously think it would not affect his life of course it affects us all but having said that I still think there is life after Brexit I dont believe it is all doom and gloom instead of moaning about it its happened now go and pull together to make it work this is in all our best interests
Honda
Completely unreated question. On minute 10.28 they visit a Polish Orthodox Church. I know it exists even knowing that most Polish people are Catholic but the big portrait of Pope St. John PauI II and that portrait inspired on the one of Jesus as visioned by St. Faustina Kowalska, also a catholic saint, would indicate this is a Polish Catholic Church, not Orthodox. Also the ambon has the coat of arms if Pope John Paul II. Let me know if I'm wrong.
You’re quite correct.....
Not orthodox.True
Fuck Honda, glad they're going.
The U.K needs Honda, but Honda doesn't need the U.K. They need acces to the E.U. That's the whole point no one thought about when they voted leave.
Born in Swindon, Princess Margaret hospital. Lived opposite the moonraker pup. And yes it's a racist place.
Omg i know that polish guy- he's well nice
“ I didn’t vote, but I’m quite... quite racist”😂😂love him
Lol
He was pissed and stupid.
Once upon a time we exported this lot to create an Empire...
Yes cannon fodder for the Johnsons and moggs of history to get rich, that was there only function.
Honda is not dhutting because of Brexit. Honda are shutting because their cars are not selling. They have proven too expensive anc the designs are strange. Demand had died world-wide. Honda has pulled out of Australia for similar reasons.
somebody should tell them that Honda are foreign
This is very unfair on Swindon. You have showed nothing but the bad pockets of the city. I live here and there are lovely areas around town. Show those instead, I’m fed up of Swindon being portrayed like a dump when it isn’t.
Where are the lovely areas as I live here and it's a dump
I've lived there all my life, it's a shit hole
Been there for an away game (Swindon vs WWFC). Also had to go there as I worked for a company which had a Head Office there. Only saw a bit of it, tbf, but that was enough. You did give us Keith Scott, tho.
Swindon is a town not a city.
no fucking sympathy
I live here.
The rest of what's left of carmaker will eventually follow suit its a matter of when not if
Brexit means brexit.
The only saving grace is he is honest! Least he isn't lying which is what all the politicians did! And he is honest to see the brutal bollocking truth despite the lying politicians. It also shows how those who voted to Ave didn't care about those it would adversely affect! 🙏
I grew up in the city when my parents were stationed in RAF fairford. Came back when I turned 20 and was only able to stay a year because I couldn’t find a job, nobody wanted to hire immigrants it felt. Ended up having to get jobs out of the city just to make it
Why is it not called the foodbank run ?????
Swindon voted 54.7% leave....that's more than the whole country average....
Honda closing and Brexit were not linked dummies... The factory was always winding up
So ,what has Brexit done for the U.K. ,,,anyone?
It’s breaking up the union
At least he admitted it. The rest of them won't, even though the clearly are.
I'd rather they were honest. They can either be educated or avoided
Seriously, what/who is this "Joe" channel? Keep getting notifications from it, but I don't remember subscribing to it :S
same here, didnt subscribe but find myself subscribed to this ponces channel, honda isnt leaving due to brexit,, they are leaving because noone in europe is buying their cars anymore because they are shit cars.
kia has taken their market share,
Apparently they are the same channel who hosts James O'Brien's podcast, something which I *am* interested in, but I didn't expect to get all these sports video notifications.
Maybe you subbed after watching the Songs using politicians' speeches
@@deadprivacy That says a lot for the quality of british workers.
@@edwardbernthal160 design rather than product quality, only the assembly lines and a few parts manufacturers were here, they mad some good cars but they got too fancy,,,kia nad hyundai wiped em out in the cheap and reliable price bracket globally in sales....they made them here but not that many folk bought them here...or globally for that matter...the crv and frv are still around but i dont think they made em here.
the mistake they made with the civic was it was too big...picanto matiz, i10, ka fiat 500, aygo/c1/106, getz, even the 206- all dinky little things and where was honda? the fucking jazz- awful bloody name and not small and cute, big and ugly and a 30 quid trip to a garage to change the headlight bulb as half the wing has to come off. 8 spark plugs too, honda cant help themselves .. almost there but still fat as hell. but i dont think they made that here
not doing the thing they did first and best anymore...
They think it's all over... it is now!
Hope so
Honda have stated many times that shutting down the plant has zero to do with brexit .. Japanese companies in general are taking production back to japan
The reason why they moved it partially to Poland...
Primary reason Honda closed Swindon was the EU-Japan trade deal. Japan has a deal with EU which will let them sell Japanese made cars in EU without tariffs in exchange for EU shipping food and wine to Japan without tariffs. Because of brexit we aren’t in that deal so Japan has zero reason to keep the factory in U.K. All this is easy to find out. It’s sad how many people believe the Governments lies. Brexit is the biggest con of the modern age.
lmao, i love how brutally honest he is
He’s brilliant. I wish more racists would be like that
And out brilliantly stupid idiot he is LOL 😂
I prefer raclsts out in the open certainly
They should have gotten them to march to vote Remain.
We want foreign company’s but not foreigners😂😂😂
Nope. Nobody says that. Only you said it.
