Some small details I’ve noticed too - In her color composition, even if the piece has a clearly dominant color, I’ve noticed that she adds details in complementary colors around the characters to highlight them - When coloring, I’ve noticed that one of the reasons why matcha’s art is so colorful is because she adds the terminator even to objects, which make them pop out. *Small idea of what the terminator is for people who don’t know: it’s that line of red when the skin goes from light to shadow, it’s caused by the color of the blood, but matcha adds it everywhere
Thanks for the helpful explanation :b Actually I have talked about terminator line in this video, but not too detail. Again, thanks for the explanation, it will be so helpful!(◍•ᴗ•◍)

On IbisPaint? Wow that is really an amazing attempt :0 could you do a video on how you rendered the hair and clothes? Maybe a composition one too as I find matcha’s composition very interesting
Thankyou!!:b And Of course! I've already talk about how I render hair, you may check in this channel and maybe there will be a guide video about what you've mentioned soon. Stay tuned!( •̀ ω •́ )✧
Guys I want to share some advice , don’t try to be exactly like your favourite artist because it will look like you’re trying to copy them , instead incorporate their art into yours ❤ hope this helps someone xx
Can I argue that, you'll never be able to completely copy someone's art, only emulate it to the best of your ability. To any beginner artist: copy your favourite artists art. Draw what makes you want to improve. You'll find your own artstyle along the way. And, there's nothing wrong with wanting a similar artstyle to someone else.
@@am_Nein yea , there’s nothing wrong with practicing another style and wanting to draw similar, what I meant was try not to beat yourself up if it doesn’t look exactly the same because if it looks the same it will look like you’ve got no original style , you get what I’m trying to say I’m really bad with words lol
Fyi theres noise and chromatic abbreviation in Ibis paint too, matcha art style works well there too , and brushes the soft turnip pen(bleed) when changing type to water helps a lot and close to matcha's brush
For the brush, try find a soft brush and increase the wetness! (Turn on watercolor in settings) I tried it and it worked really well which made a more accurate drawing!
i didnt know the artist was matcha but i saw this art style and just fell in love with it! im trying to improve my art by drawing sketches for 30 days and will use this art style in it so thank you so much for this tutorial
by the way that miku drawing you made was so similar to her style and so beautiful i think that matcha uses a hard and small brush to do the eyelids and thats just a detail i noticed
Tysm for this video, ive been starting to get bored of art and not enjoy making it as much. But this video where you made amazing art using ibis paint made me wanna do it again (maybe because of envy lmao) I have no doubt you'll become successful with your art and your channel!
This was really helpful! I can't believe this is underrated. I was blown away by your copied study and the attempt. I can only imagine the time and effort you put for this. Not to mention, the editing process it took for the this video... That's some huge dedication there! On a side note, I like your humor! Btw, QUESTION. The part when you said strengthen the contrast (after setting the shadow), did you do it on another layer with normal blending mode?
Oh wait you already mentioned it in your attempt chapter. It's linear dodge layer. My bad. Must have missed that part. I got too focused on your timelapsed process
The picture in the thumbnail,I have it saved in my camera roll from Pinterest and i drew it on a piece of papear bc the matcha art was so cute, and also for inspiration!
dude i love you. its always hard for me to make studies since i cant wrap my head around breaking down someones process like that so your video is a godsend for helping me understand the process
I love videos that chew on the art styles, and, as my mom would say, spit out how to do them step by step. Even tho every art style is different in their own ways, these steps could be applied to any art style, just changed a little
tip(kinda) : in ibis paint noise texture can be achieved by going into the fx button thn going into *artist* then click, *noise* I'm going to use this tutorial later tysm
thank you so much for making this video!! can you explain / demonstrate more on the part where you said "matcha uses saturated colors more when doing faces"? how can we do that without making it "pop" too much compared to the hair or the rest of the character which is more desaturated?
Good question! When I mentioned that Matcha uses saturated colors more for faces, it means she tends to use brighter and more vibrant colors to highlight facial features like eyes, lips, and skin. This creates a more dramatic effect and draws attention to those areas. To maintain balance and harmony in the image, it's important to consider the contrast between the face and other parts of the character. One way to do this is by using saturated colors wisely and balancing them with more desaturated or softer areas. For example, if Matcha uses saturated colors for the face, you can consider using quieter or desaturated colors for the hair or clothing. This helps avoid too much contrast and ensures the focus remains on the character's face. Additionally, techniques like color blending and adjusting values can help create smoother transitions between saturated and desaturated areas. By carefully adjusting values and contrast, you can achieve the desired balance between different parts of the character. Feel free to experiment and try different approaches to find what works best for your style and preferences! Hope this helps!ヾ(•ω•`)o
when I looked closer at Matcha's pieces (specifically the cinna x miku collab one ) I saw a kind of watercolor effect at the bottom, currently trying to copy that-
Really nice video and the result looks good Only thing that I would point out is that in ur previous art, all colours are unsaturated and really similar in term of lightness which makes ur art look dull And for this video drawing, only the right eye looks weird (its too far placed)
could you do a more in depth step in rendering or an explanation on it, especially the face and hair in matcha's style, clothes too if you can squeeze it in
I would love if u could do a video about what brushes you use in ibisPaint and how u use them that would be a brilliant idea for a video and helpful!!🙂
Thanks for the idea :b. But I only use dip pens (brush) and airbrush in all of my works with costumized opacity. I'm not good at using other brushes xD
