Scientists Revealed Biggest Secret of the Titanic Iceberg

- It seems like the Titanic story is well-known, and nothing can be surprising about it, but new details about that terrible shipwreck still resurface. It turns out that this iceberg most likely formed out of snow that fell 100,000 years ago. These days, it's possible to calculate the routes of such icebergs in any given year in the past. So, the infamous chunk of ice was on its way from Greenland to an area further south of Cornwall. If the ship had passed through that region only two days later, the iceberg would have moved far away from the point where they met.

3:10 its scary to know that a century ago a novel written about the ship called Titan that will sink here. In 2023 We just knew that the Titan sinked there.
Ok, so?
Also big egos, pride money and greed is what sank the titanic and titan
Waiting for Historic Travels
3:10 Yeah, that was an issue with earlier kinds of film reels. They were composed mainly of cellulose and it's very prone to fire and has its own oxygen in it, so, rather hard to put out once it's ablaze.
1:57 no it was a moonless night all you have to do is lookup the phases of the moon for 1912
As you can see from the image in 1:38, only the tip of the iceberg is above water meaning most of it was underwater
🛵 Thanks for that science lesson.
The Titan! Given recent events that’s crazy 😮 3:29
I was thinking the exact same thing 😶
If Titanic had sailed in late March as originally scheduled, it might not have met the iceberg
It would've simply hit another one I think. The area they sailed through was Iceberg Alley, which was filled with icebergs. It took the Carpathia 3 days to steer through this area and arrive at New York. Driving at full force was irresponsible and made the Titanic's crew unable to react quickly enough upon spotting the iceberg. I imagine the likelihood that they hit another iceberg if this one hadn't been there was quite high.
would have still sunk due to the ignorance of the captain.

Hi@@dannsthamann195🎉
There was no moon that night. The mastlight was not sufficient to see the berg. The lookouts used the stars to be able to spot any bergs. When they did, their speed had the too close.
Actually the moon was in the Waning Cresent phase and the cresent was visible (its almost a new moon, but not quite) The new moon took place on April 17th 1912. Which interestingly enough, is when the Solar Eclipse happened as well.
Titanic did not have a spotlight. The picture of the couple are not Isador and Ida Strauss, the owners of Macy’s. There was not a mummy on the ship. So many inaccuracies in this video 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
What about Rose,s mummy?

It lost me at a voodoo mummy may have sunk it.
first there was no moon and the super calm weather and odd optical illusion going on that night meant that even if they had the binoculars they probably wouldnt have seen it in time. Partially because they were speeding.... partially cause of the weird weather conditions. and they did get lots of ice burg warnings before that but chose to ignore them and speed anyways
Only one problem with all that: 21 knots was her standard speed. It’s a myth that they were speeding
The actually changed course and went further south
@@digitaal_boog They went 22,5 knots that night, not a myth at all
5:53 , we know how happened, the ship did not have enough bending sections to withstand the immense stress out of the water like that.

You forget to mention another human mistake: the ruder of morden ships work like this: if you go to port the ship will go starboard, while in old vessels it was not the case; so when the ship found the iceberg it was on the stem starboard so the ship should move to port to avoid coalition (moving the ruder to starboard), the man who took the ruder had experience only on old vessels so it is probably that he moved the ruder to port moving the ship to starboard and so closer to the iceberg.
He was told hard a starboard and turned port - tiller commands
Orders given to the helmsman were still based on Tiller steering commands. Put simply, if you move the tiller to the right, the vessel turns to the left. Tiller steering orders in the Royal & Merchant Navies were not discontinued until January, 1933.
Thus, ordering 'Hard a Starboard' would result in the helmsman turing the ship to port.
@@TimeMasterOG port was issued then starboard
@doveton sturdee plus it would have been thrown into full reverse.
I mean poor Fleet who was the look out on the night, he had a moonless night and calm waters... the worse combination to have. No one is seeing it in time, especially without binoculars due to the last person to have the key leaving the ship last minute due to lack of experience with such a large vessel and the fact it was the maiden voyage. They deemed it too much pressure for him and thus the first butterfly effect kicked into motion of a long list of errors/failures.
I still feel for Fleet because he survived the sinking but he killed himself years later due to that very night. Not the only one to do so either. We have a park with a memorial dedicated to him.
@@dovetonsturdee7033 Tiller towards trouble
Some people think Titanic was sank by 1.) A rare celestial event 2.) A mummy 😐So you use a model that looks like Titanic then use a modern day cruise ship as the Californian 😂
Wait….so you’re saying the Californian wasn’t a modern day cruise ship that time-travelled to warn the Titanic??
Was I looking for iceberg charts? yes
.am I disappointed? No
I bet no one thought to stack survivours on the actual iceberg untill safety arrived
It would not be possible, to climb up the ice without special shoes and clothes the passengers did not have as they were not mountain climbers.

This video is SOOO correct, especially 5:50 . Man I love that BRIGHT SIDE does so much research before they post a video, and do not make it up at the spot of recording. P.S. (why does your titanic almost always sink backward??? also it broke in two because of the stress put on the megastructure after the whole stern went up into the air.)
'Man I love that BRIGHT SIDE does so much research before they post a video, and do not make it up at the spot of recording. I suspect that this is the first time that this has been said ot Brightside, whose Titanic videos are, in terms of lack of research & general ineptitude, in a class of their own.
June 21 2023 and RMS Titanic still making headlines
There was a coal fire before departure. Coal fires are very hard to put out. So as they sailed they tried putting it out by putting the coal in the engine more frequently and quantity. Which picked up speed. And the fire was in the first 5 compartments....where the iceberg hit. It was already damaged so the integrity wasn't 100 before they even set off.
No. Titanic was going 21 knots, her normal speed, the fire was out before the sinking, and caused no damage whatsoever to the ship. In fact that fire stopped the ship capsizing
Incorrect... But that's ok. People can have different opinions or thoughts or knowledge 👍
@@stephaniebisschop2499 you sure? What exactly is it I said that was incorrect?
@@stephaniebisschop2499it definitely is not “incorrect” and has been proven true. The coal fire meant the coal had to be offloaded to the port side of the ship. This offset of weight caused a 3 degree list to port. When the titanic hit the iceberg on the starboard side this list helped keep the titanic on an even keel during her sinking. The fire itself had no effect on her steel/iron integrity
Titanic
Still everyone is talking about Titanic
Indeed. To bad there are possible 5 victims near Titanic.
Of course they are. The Titanic sinking is just one of the disasters this whole world will never forget.
And now real Titan went down in an implosion
The full moon occurred on Jan 4, 1912, the closest lunar approach since AD726 and earth won't see it again until 2257. It MAY have created unusually strong tides that sent a flotilla of icebergs southward just in time for her maiden voyage.
6:57 i had read they didnt even have binoculars available and they wouldnt have helped because it was total darkness except the starlight and the ships own lights
cool
Who is after submarine is lost in sea
Awsome
I counted 37 problems
Nope The Titanic Didn't Have A Searchlight!
Man I was hoping for it to be a sea monster disguised as an iceberg
soo all those videos show ice falling off into the water is just completely normal?
Who was curious and felt like it was a mistery
When i here iceberg i get goosebumps of titanic disaster
How can a ship which was hit in the nose sink in the rear first... This part is false there are images from when it happened of the ship sinking nose first... because this is said in the video it's going to take a little bit more convincing of what was said. Just a tip if you want to inform make sure you inform things correctly. Fellas do more research than this video please
I honestly don’t think they care. So long as people keep clicking and liking/subscribing they will keep posting. It’s disgusting because they are spreading misinformation (no doubt intentionally for clicks) and people are buying it. I can see an honest mistake but when multiple videos continue to spew lies and half truths as historical there is a huge problem. I’m glad there are channels like Historic Travels that call Bright Side out.

You know for a ship so small relative to the rest of the ocean, the captain literally hit gold in a sense. In the whole world, what are odd of hitting the an iceberg? You got to unbelievably lucky. Also they missed that the ship had a fire prior to departing.
There was a lot more than 1 iceberg.
Don't believe this video, it's mostly lies.
For example, the titanic never had a gigantic spotlight on the front of it.
They were passing through an ice field, which is a reality of the ocean. It’s really not that short of odds that that hit an iceberg in that time period without better technology to see ahead in the dark.
Considering how many compartments that could have been flooded, and still stay afloat. They might've had a better chance. If they had just reversed engines. And hit it head on.
Ice cut steel???? Oh ok👌🏽
Graphics often very incorrect as to what actually happened to the ship. Picture shown of a newlywed couple but the verbage was about the Strauss's who owned Macys. The verbage was correct, but the picture was not. I quit watching with 9 minutes left. Dont waste your time.

It would've toppled over with people on it !
So, in reply to everybody who is asking why they didn’t go climb onto the iceberg… An iceberg is not the same thing as a floating shelf of ice as you would see in Rudolph the red nose reindeer or the pictures of polar bears walking or penguins - lol- they are not the same thing
Well ships today should be made of bulletproof glass because a bullet can leave a hole in ice but not bulletproof glass so ships won't sink take this in

I know why they didn’t have binoculars because someone left it a Safe
No, because someone put Blair on another ship and he accidentally took the key with him
Ummmm....what about the more recent theory there was a fire onboard that burned for days prior??
It has no validity. A bunker fire aboard Titanic was extinguished about 24 hours before the collision. It do not damage the hull, and was well aft of the collision point in any case.
That actually is true. In fact it helped to keep the ship on an even keel during the sinking because coal was transferred from starboard to port. When she hit on the starboard side the extra weight of the coal offset the starboard list. I highly recommend Historic Travels for Titanic videos. He actually does his research.
@@jomac841 I don’t think the coal was transferred, I think the burning coal was just shovelled into the furnaces first
@@digitaal_boog hmmm. That’s possible. I was just thinking about the slight port list during the voyage. I could have sworn read that but I could be wrong!
@@jomac841 yes that’s it. The burning coal on the starboard side was shovelled into the boilers first to get rid of it, and as such it caused an imbalance of coal. This caused the port list
