Nothing today can match the sound of a pair of high horsepower 2 stroke motors running hard, this sounds pretty good but IMO the Mercury Racing 2 stroke 2.4 or 2.5 outboards spinning to 7500 rpm is the ultimate in hair raising sound that has never been duplicated and never will. Today's 4 strokes sound like a sewing machine without the stones in the torque #s. Evinrude was the last of the 2 strokes, they ran and sounded so much better while having the same or better fuel economy than the 4 stroke. The CARB 3 star rating proves they are as clean a running motor than any 4 stroke and they weigh significantly less as well. Was bummed when Evinrude folded, their 300hp e-tech motor was a sweet runner and sounded great when the boat had a pair or 3 on your transom.
Man I miss the sounds and smells of the old 250 ox66 motors, took them off and repowered with 4 strokes and they just don’t sound anywhere near as good
Two beautifull outboards. If i ever get my own boat it is diffently gonna be powered by one of these OX66.
