Currently moving from stage 4 to stage 5. Once you hit the end of the 2A tech-tree with thermals, dual tube nods, high-end ARs and gucci glocks, drones and signal gear, and enough prep-food to feed your town for a month, you realize that community, fundementals, touching grass, and enjoying it all as a hobby is more sustainable than everyone's literal sustainment plans. At the end of it, you realize why those retired special operations guys just chill, go hunting with their friends, do community work and events, and only keep up with this stuff as a hobby.
I'm a mix between 3,4 and 5. Luckily(?) I'm a bit of a Fudd. I see the merits of the new tech but growing up using irons and scopes with duplex style crosshair. So i kind of skipped over most of the firesrms tech. But not the armor and gear. Still going down that rabbit hole and it's deep. No so much of a food hoarder as I am preparing for a gardening and hunting lifestyle. So it kinda keeps things a bit on the cheaper side.
In the beginning fear can be one hell of a driving force but it is in no way sustainable, fear and hatred is what will lead you to burnout, in the end love and passion is what keeps things going, the love for yourself, your family, friends, community, etc etc, as cheesy as this sounds

@@doctorchaotic3415 you can also make a auto-feeder using rotting foods and big plastic crates. i think it was "acorn labs" that did a video on it, TL:DR put some old random rotting stuff on a platform hanging to lids of the tubs and make air holes for flies to get in, the rotting stuff attracts flies, the larvae fall off the "platform" of rotting meat/food/misc and cant get out so they wiggle out of a tube on the bottom, they fall into a pan and chickens get food.

The whole point isnt to stop a round hitting you, its to help you live long enough to make it to a surgical team. People have died from being hit in the plates and they cover such a miniscule area most deaths dont come from hits to the torso but to the extremeties and face. All teaching now is pelvis and face shots so yeah body armour is absolutely pointless outside of conventional forces. Youre better off being light so youre able to move fast and over distance easier.

Legs, arms, and head are all hard targets to hit, Pelvis makes sense but still what's your point? what if you train enough with your armor that it feels like your wearing nothing at all, Also if a round doesn't go through your armor why do you need a surgical team, you'll need one anyway if you get hit without armor FOR SURE!, not ever round fired at you is a Slug or AP or Large Caliber (eg .408, .416, etc.) so your not gonna break a rib or have a massive fracture that causes internal bleeding from a 5.56 or a 9mm (WHICH 99% of federal agents/police/security forces ARE USING) so i will still be wearing one since i want to survive a round while running and not just die instantly. I stopped at Stage 3, when I bought 2 suppressors and a PVS-14. I stopped because my wife asked me why I needed them, and I couldn’t think of a good answer. If you live in a rural setting, NVG's/Thermals are perfect for predator control/monitoring. If things get nasty, they are one of the best force multipliers for getting your family out of a bad situation (think burning subdivision) late at night when all the baddies are sleeping off their highs. It's foolish to get rid of priceless tools that would keep your family safe when moving at night is your only viable option.

I've reached Stage 5. Dealing with tweakers, I've come to realize that statistically the most tacticool and effective gear you can have and wear in a real life situation is: 1. Underwear (if Briefs, 50/50 chance of +3 or -3 to Intimidation). 2. Flip flops (or Crocs, or Moses Sandals if you're into that). 3. Some kind of gun with a white light mounted to it. Can substitute a headlamp if desperate (holding a flashlight and gun at the same time sucks). 4. For investigating, bring a regular flashlight if you're using a weapon-mounted light. (So you're not flagging everything and everyone you're trying to see.) 5. Try to bring a cell phone, stuck down the front or back of your tighty-whities. +0.02 to crotch armor if in the front. Chance of enemy thinking you're an acolyte of GG Alin if in the back (+25 to Intimidation).

I graduated to stage 5 when I realized that the Army's new XM7 weapon system fires a 6.8x51mm round that defeats level IV ceramic plates in a single hit. They didn't do this to defeat our enemies. Our enemies aren't wearing Level IV armor. They did this to defeat us. When I realized and accepted this, I sold off everything I don't need. Let death come, I'll make the coffee and we can have a conversation.
I think I'm the only guy that just collects this stuff over time because it's fun and cool to have. I don't have ALL the guns I want to collect yet, or nods, or thousands of rounds stockpiled, but I have fun with what I have. I think that's a pretty healthy way to live. I almost went down the "end of the world/shtf/apocalypse" rabbit hole after covid but quickly realized that everything is going to be okay. Theres a specific way to use combat gauze, israeli bandages. Tourniquets have a technique to be applied correctly to actually be effective. And then the most important part if all; transport to higher levels of care. The only purpose for ems is to try and do everything possible pre-hospital to keep someone alive so that a surgeon can try to fix the problem. We put bandaids on the problem to buy time. If you dint have access to a hospital or a way to get there you might as well just watch saving private ryan and learn how to keep your dying patient company on their way out🤷♂️. Comms is another biggy, if you cant even get a medic to your patient....... And then there's resupply, all that training and experience doesn't mean much if you can't get more shit to keep doing your job. It's a little more complex than a fanny pack with a couple of items😂

Been stage 5 for a while, and stage 2 was innmy teens. But I'm a socialist, so it was a bit different. Hit stage 5 about 2 years ago. Never hit stage 4, went 3 to 5. I still buy food storage, and I still have all my weapons and gear because I need em for my job, but my focus now is on internal improvement, meditation, and medicine (both natural and synthetic). It's far mroe peaceful to let go and accept the world for the dark, fucked up place it is. Because despite all that, your family is a place of joy and you decide to hold on to that as long as you can so you can value it when it's gone.

I stopped at Stage 3, when I bought 2 suppressors and a PVS-14. I stopped because my wife asked me why I needed them, and I couldn’t think of a good answer. I sold everything except my 10/22, AR-15, shotgun, a couple of Glocks and my hunting rifle. Life is good and I’m glad I stopped before it was too late

If you live in a rural setting, NVG's/Thermals are perfect for predator control/monitoring. If things get nasty, they are one of the best force multipliers for getting your family out of a bad situation (think burning subdivision) late at night when all the baddies are sleeping off their highs. It's foolish to get rid of priceless tools that would keep your family safe when moving at night is your only viable option.

I've reached Stage 5. Dealing with tweakers, I've come to realize that statistically the most tacticool and effective gear you can have and wear in a real life situation is:
1. Underwear (if Briefs, 50/50 chance of +3 or -3 to Intimidation).
2. Flip flops (or Crocs, or Moses Sandals if you're into that).
3. Some kind of gun with a white light mounted to it. Can substitute a headlamp if desperate (holding a flashlight and gun at the same time sucks).
4. For investigating, bring a regular flashlight if you're using a weapon-mounted light. (So you're not flagging everything and everyone you're trying to see.)
5. Try to bring a cell phone, stuck down the front or back of your tighty-whities. +0.02 to crotch armor if in the front. Chance of enemy thinking you're an acolyte of GG Alin if in the back (+25 to Intimidation).

Theres a specific way to use combat gauze, israeli bandages. Tourniquets have a technique to be applied correctly to actually be effective.
And then the most important part if all; transport to higher levels of care. The only purpose for ems is to try and do everything possible pre-hospital to keep someone alive so that a surgeon can try to fix the problem. We put bandaids on the problem to buy time. If you dint have access to a hospital or a way to get there you might as well just watch saving private ryan and learn how to keep your dying patient company on their way out🤷♂️.

Hit stage 5 about 2 years ago. Never hit stage 4, went 3 to 5. I still buy food storage, and I still have all my weapons and gear because I need em for my job, but my focus now is on internal improvement, meditation, and medicine (both natural and synthetic).
It's far mroe peaceful to let go and accept the world for the dark, fucked up place it is. Because despite all that, your family is a place of joy and you decide to hold on to that as long as you can so you can value it when it's gone.
