    You bring up a lot of good points about buying a used DSLR in today’s climate. I think many people have rushed to mirrorless because it is the future. I know many of us want the latest and greatest shiny thing to play with, but sometimes you have to factor in what’s affordable. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels.

    Why not? If you only shoot images (no video), probably the D800 is the most affordable option ($1000 or less) that offers you 36MP. We don't have the mirrorless equivalent of the D800 within the same price range in used market, yet.

    • @itsfiachrakelly

      @@itsfiachrakelly I mainly just shoot jpegs. The D800’s images just have more details that my X-E1. I guess it’s because of the more pixels from the D800. And I really like Nikon’s color. I had a D60 before owning the X-E1. I bought X-E1 mainly because I could see the final image’s quality thru the EVF. But now after picking up the DSLR again, looking through the mirror and prism feels more direct than thru the EVF. And the response from D800 is much quicker than the X-E1, making each shutter pressing moment very enjoyable. I really like very much 😃🙏🏻

    I don't understand your comment that a CF card is more fragile than an SD card...🙄 The CF card has always been regarded as way more robust and bullet-proof compared to the very small, fragile and thin bendy-plastic SD cards. The CF cards are generally much faster than SD cards, especially in their download speed. I would have preferred that the D800 had two Compact Fash card slots, but at least it has two slots, unlike the crazy single slots of the Z6 & Z7.

    • @itsfiachrakelly
      @itsfiachrakelly  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah I know what you mean there, but reading and just using CF cards i ment the pins in them could be more fragile than those on an SD cards.
      Build quality wise overall the CF card will hold up better.
      I completely agree with the two card slot, it's always better to have the two card slots, it's definitely makes me feel more comfortable 😊

    Awesome video!!! I still LOVE my D800 all these years later, and still shoot it. For me, it is the benchmark that I measure all other cameras against. I recently put up a video comparing the D800 to the Z9, same day, same light, same lens same subjects. I have used Sony, and had left Nikon for Canon but have come back to Nikon with the Z9. My old D800 is still amazing..... and I shot it in the rain not but about a month ago. However..... I wont shoot it over ISO 400. Fantastic video!! 🤗❤🙏

      @@itsfiachrakelly Until the Z - their video was ehh.... The D780 was pretty good and I did many music videos with it but it did miss a good deal. You could be a small point and shoot just for video that will be amazing or an inexpensive video camera just for video. If you were interested in switching, the Sonys and Canon have AMAZING video. But for stills..... it is unmatched other than the Z9 in my opinion and in my use. The advantage to a Z mirrorless with an adapter just for video is that your glass will all work on the new body. The other advantage to a mirrorless for video is the IBS that will make the video smoother as well when working with the VR in the lens. ❤🤗

      Yes, but also bring a second camera with Auto mode. This camera is very manual. However, if you know what you are doing, the D800 will be the most magical shots. But having a simple D5100, or D5600 will allow you to cover all situations faster and then the D800 steps in for the very best of the best. But as you become more confident in the D800, you will use it more... You can use a very inexpensive D5100 and get amazing results and speed, weddings move fast...but it won't have the dynamic range of the D800. Use the D800 for all their formal pictures. Then the client will be impressed. Then use a lesser DX camera to grab all other amazing moments.... If that helps.
