I can't begin to prepare a lesson without looking BBC videos. They're all very good and catch my students atention making the class lighter and funnier. Thank you BBC. Gratitude for you all the workers envolved.
This program is incredibly useful! Moreover, it is so funny to watch how people interact with each other. I liked it very much, especially the part when Nana shut up Bill and answered instead of him lmao! Also, I like the part when Bill tried to answer but Nana Will pretended he was not there. I'll recommend this video to my friends!
Nana Will said that she relented when the speaker had been just a little sprite. The speaker said that we need to practice. Nana Will told the speaker not not test her. Leslie said that present becomes past and past becomes past perfect.
My teacher reccomended this edisode and i love it so much! I liked the host of the game as he was cute and funny. Especially, wnen Nana Will told him that he had to drink up the milk. Generally, everything was clearly explained. i think i won't have any problems with this topic
I liked this video very much! I understood all the information which was explained in the show. I liked the most when host of the program told that he loved his Nana. It was very cute and funny. Moreover, I learnt some important information about reported speech such as words which should be changed in this speech.
such a nice video😍😍 i liked it so much, especially when Nana Will said to the host that she knew better what you need🤣🤣 also, that moment when Nana claimed that he would answer that instead of Bill made me smile haha thank u for the video!
The host was very cheerful and creative . In the first round he asked 3 typical verbs that are used in the reported speech. The answers were : say, ask, tell. In the second round the host asked about the order in the reported speech . It was very interesting point to know about it. The last round was devoted to the Words that are transformed in the reported speech . I enjoy the show
The program is hilarious and educative at the same time, I liked it a lot ( especially the very beginning of the video). I also liked the part where nana will said that she would answer the question instead of bill😂 moreover, she started telling the audience that when the leader was little he had told lots of strange things. I’d recommend this video to whose who what to revise this theme and have fun
I dont understand why at minute 5:03 it is "he told me that he had wanted to be an elephant when he WAS a child" and not "he told me that he had wanted to e an elephant when he HAD BEEN a child". Can someone explain?
When Nana Will said that she would answer the question instead of Bill, it was so funny! She also started to tell everyone that when the leader had been a little boy he had told a lot of strange things. Overall, the proramm was good and the most attractive part of the video is the beginning, when the leader says the words of welcome.
My students told me this gameshow is a nice way how to learn more about English Grammar. I asked them if they really enjoy it. As a matter of fact, they said they have lots of fun while watching it. :D
Thank you for this video, nice and amusing lesson.....but to say the truth not easy for me... I tryed the quiz but I was wrong 0/3. I'll study better and practice more. Bye for now and have a lovely Easter break !! ( I'm your elderly Italian student ) !
i have a question. in 2 examples: the first one( i wanted to be an elephant when i was a child), you changed it into ( he had wanted to be an elephant when he was a child), why not (....when he had been a child) because you said that we have to go back one tense. The second one (i got this last Tuesday) was changed into (you had got that the Tuesday before), i think the word "this" should be changed into " IT", not " That"
(Group 104 Daria Bystrova)I always thought that this topic is very difficult for me. You know, I always avoid using Reported Speech in English. However, now, after this video, everything has become much clearer! I've remembered verb pattern with the most commonly used in reported speech verbs say(smth to smb), tell(smb smth) and ask(smb if). Moreover, the video told me how tenses of sentence can be changed, when direct speech is replaced by reported speech. What an amazing show!
I just love it ! ..We can keep the same tense or change it to the past perfect if the tense of the direct sentence is the past simple .I 've read this somewhere .Would you confirm or correct me ?
Nana Will turned out to be a stubborn woman, because she said that she would answer instead of the opponent. She also told everyone that when the host was small, he said a lot of things. In General, the program was good, the host said that we would understand everything and it was calm.
Interesting the type of dialogue used here. The small talk is rather bizarre at times between the host and the lady. It could have been phrased differently considering that many people have difficulties understanding the jargon at a weaker level. I imagine that after 4 years this video could have been updated by now in 2023. This C2 level by the way if what they are saying is complex art times. RP..? That used to equal BBC English…
If we use 'told' we need to use a pronoun - so: I told him I loved Nana Will. For more information and a quiz, go to out website: www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish/english/course/tgg/unit-1/session-26 Hope this helps!

Hi sugar rush. We are glad you find our video useful. Good luck tomorrow! 🍀
I am still wondering about what is the difference between next year and the year after? Would anyone mind to help?
Thank you for saying "Nagaatti" at the end of your episode. Nagaatti is an Afaan Oromo word for 'goodbye'.
Thanks.
Oh, well done
I just love it ! ..We can keep the same tense or change it to the past perfect if the tense of the direct sentence is the past simple .I 've read this somewhere .Would you confirm or correct me ?
Sometimes, you can keep it. See 6:28 for an example: if it's still true.
3:42 Leslie's Laugh

"I told I loved Nana Will"...
Am I right guys?
If we use 'told' we need to use a pronoun - so: I told him I loved Nana Will.
