My throat hurts, When i'm screaming, my mum, Went to my room. And my metal scream failed.
I learned to do it while driving around in my car and practicing to songs. Just remember to stop if your throat hurts and don’t forget to train your natural voice as well. It took me a couple months before I actually got pretty good

About a month ago I watched this video and felt annoyed. This form of marketing is incredibly scammy, and finishing off the video with “buy my course” and saying that we can get 4 “free” videos by paying is just silly. Since then, I’ve been working at metal vocals every single day while listening to music, and eventually I got pretty good at it. Anyone reading this, don’t pay for something that you can practice on your own and do your own free research on. I’m glad that I’ve learned this skill on my own for free, in spite of you :)

This is legit but this scream is false cords or low growls, not vocal fry... still pretty awesome that someone actually explained how to scream. Most vocal tutorials act like they’re explaining rocket science or they have the balls to sit their and give you the smallest amount of information.

Lol I legit just now learned how to scream while at work today
So story of how I did it.
I work overnight at a grocery store. I also bring my speaker with me to pump me up while throwing cases to the shelf. Keep me awake and energized basically. And I tend to lose myself to my music so my coworkers hear me singing along to alot of songs all night. They don't complain lol (hopefully good sign)
Anyway. Because I've always liked to sing along and the variety of artists I listen to, I always tried to match how their voice sounds exactly when I sing along with them. Be it high pitch or low.
Weeeeeeellllll my Playlist mainly consists of Slipknot, BMTH, Motionless in White, etc. I used to only sing along with the cleans but I just wanted to try screaming legitimately once.
So I did it. Bout 3 weeks ago lol.
I just started doing lows in high-pitch. It sounded like ass but no one else could hear me cause a music too loud. But I could hear myself. Using their music, I would try and tune it as it went. This included with moving a shit ton made my ass light headed alot lol.
But as I got more confident, I got louder. And today I finally nailed the scream. The fry as I'm now learning lol. It needs some work imo, it's not as clean as I want it to be, but yeah, just fucking happy with it, and I'm more willing now to pursue learning the different forms of screaming. I can hit decent clean notes, not anything special, but I haven't met anyone irl who can scream and I've always hung out with people who listen to the same type of music I do. Wide variety. Shit feels nice lol probably useless, story, but just felt like sharing, my way probably ain't the best way to learn but it worked for me 🤷♂️ just practicing to songs you like, trying to mimic the sounds you hear closely, don't stress your cords too harshly too quickly, and drink water.

Actually, what you did is gonna works. I did the same thing when I started years ago. I started from growl, and then chest techniques ala Corey Taylor and slowly I tried the fry scream. After that I learn how to NOT pushing my throat so much and focusing more on my diaphragm. Kepp practicing and you're all set.
Corey taylors vocals r not really screams and slipknot sucks btw they r way overated. If u listen to their guitar riffs they r all simple. Most of them r just one finger power chords due to lower tunings. They suck

I feel like learning to properly scream is one of the hardest things to do. It's takes so much time and effort, but once you have "that moment" you think to yourself "holy shhhh, I've got it!".... you truly never lose it
watched all 4 videos and they weren't helpful.. you repeated yourself so many times and spent about 2 minutes actually showing how to scream, before saying if you wanted it more in depth that i would need to pay. sigh.
I Learned some usefull tips from this guy th-cam.com/video/ftboO63epoE/w-d-xo.html It's in portugese but I guess you may understand the gestures. He say you need to pratice with sigh and the diaphragm to get the distortion you want. It worked for me. I am not a professional singer but it's better than nothing and it was free. Other tip that I learned for myself is that in the beginning it's easier if you sing like you are very sad and very tired. Pay attention to this video in the 4:30 th-cam.com/video/VtbD9R0kjVY/w-d-xo.html . That is what I am talking about singing like your tired. Hope it helps you. It's the best I can do. You can ask more question if you want.

I love how brutally honest you are about yourself and your journey! It makes me feel wayyy more comfortable about my scream. Mines super powerful but not very consistent or steady ya know? It’s a weird thing tho. You have to consistently practice and reach that middle area where you can still talk or ig sing and still be loud and powerful. No better practice aside from just getting alone and just going for it. As soon as I felt tenderness in my throat I started new techniques to find my right voice/style to practice in or ig with! So good

This is so great! I've fought with people for forever about the actual skill it takes to scream correctly. I've always been so intrigued by the human voice and the different ranges we can reach. You put so much work into this. I'm proud of you for sticking to it and finding your voice.

If this is legit that is amazing my dude. It shows your pure dedication and love for music. I'm not a screamer myself but a guitarist in the genre. It took me about 4 years now of trying to scream on and off to get pretty ok at it, and I only can do 3 or 4 types of screaming, still working on it. The fact that you got it in just a few months without extreme vocal fatigue makes me real jealous. Though to be fair, I didn’t put nearly as much research work into my learning, just TH-cam videos and making myself a lab rat.

Don't feel bad, when I was learning to scream I was a pre teen and didn't have TH-cam to help me learn and I shredded my voice around the time I was hitting puberty. Took me months to find a scream I liked and 10 years later I'm still finding new styles for my scream and adjusting it. You did great bro

i learned how to scream by singing along with Skillet for a few years off their earlier heavier albums, and then one i found bullet for my valentine and tried the “Let’s Goooooo” at the beginning of “Tears Don’t Fall” and then realized that i could scream his high pitched scream. you’re vocal chords are like you’re biceps, it’s a muscle too. the more i “practiced” singing with Skillet, all those months sore and hoarse was actually strengthening me vocal chords.. a lot like how you’re sore for a few days after lifting for the first time. but i’ve always been “loud” yelling all the time playing sports. always sounded like Five Finger Death Punch’s yells when i’d yell. but i never could scream until i just started singing along with my favorite raspy voiced bands on the way to college and back. until one day i tried and was like holy shit.. i’ve never been able to do that before. i’ve been able to scream for 8 years now. all kinds of different screams. even able to do the 17 second LP Given Up scream. and all those years of screaming ive learned that i’ve actually unlocked clean vocal range that i’ve never had before. i can actually carry a note now. i can swap between scream and high note now. like danny worsnop singing “Hey There Mr. Brooks”. practice and don’t give up guys. will i ever be in a band? prob not. too shy to sing in front of anyone other than my girlfriend... but maybe y’all would like to sing infront of people. i just enjoy singing otw to work when i’m alone. maybe one day i’ll record myself and post it. but until then i’m trying to help people learn how to by telling them how i learned. maybe it could help you. i would advise watching Jared Dines warm up tutorials first though. i learned the hard way and didn’t warm up first and lost my voice a lot and made my regular voice raspy a lot. stay safe and hopefully i helped some of you

I decided to do that same thing you did - to finally jump straight into it. I've been wanting to try out screaming for some time now but always made some sort of excuse such as not having enough time or worrying my parents will find out and think a demon has replaced their child ("how to practice even if you live with other people" gave me some hope, tho!). I unlocked my screaming a couple months ago while singing the songs "Saints of the Blood" by Black Veil Brides and "Reason to Believe" by Arch Enemy! Not sure why those songs worked for me lol. My new years resolution was to learn and master screaming. I'll compare my screams from the beginning to end like you. I've been practicing everyday too on the Smule Sing! App. Super helpful to record your screams and listen back. Thank you for this video!

I've been practicing screams for at least the last year. I've only just gotten okay at it but it is the hardest technique to learn as a vocalist. I am super envious of those who can do it without fail.

Just watched the 4th video of your free course, and what a suprise: it’s just a 20min long ad with another 10 min recap of the first 3 videos and 2mins on how to apply those few things i learned.
The tips are still really valid, and you definitely inspired me to actually practice constantly and to have more confidence. But seriously? 20 minutes of you talking about your “scream academy” and what i could learn by paying hundreds of dollars??? That’s just ridiculous after all the big talk about free super sick and useful tips and tricks. Dunno what other people think but i was pretty disappointed. Of course it is right to pay for vocal lessons and all the other things you have in the course, but i was expecting something more, what you talked about is just slightly more than other random TH-cam tutorials.

I actually accidentally unlocked my scream by listening to music on my way home from work one night and just seeing along and realizing that I was just screaming. It took me about a week after that to kinda perfect it while still leaving open the chance to change it depending on what it is I'm trying to accomplish
