Correction: Sony's stock price drop had to do with Sony offering to purchase Paramount for $26b when it's cash reserves were around $9b, dropping the stock price due to cash reserve concerns. What does this mean for this video: The helldiver's 2 scenario was not the driving force behind the stock dip.
Due to talking about the big speedrun website I bet my previous message will be deleted because it accidentally contained a URL. Both of my comments are gone yet I'm getting notifications. I hate TH-cam. All I'm doing is talking about how Elo did the same thing with a certain speedrunning community. But that's enough to flag my comments and delete them. Thanks TH-cam.
Being a contracted roblox creator for years whenever they promise something just expect the most half assed final product. Roblox constantly crashes their own stocks from being delusional and out of touch. They been forcing guilded on us and block everything they can on discord since they bought it. You are already able to link your roblox profile so this update makes no sense
hello christocream. i agree as well, why in the world would they need a roblox account just to do it. people can just put roblox accounts and never use it at all. no point for this requirement at all.
Multi millionaire? Roblox loses more money than they gain. Roblox is completely reliant on old people giving them money which is why roblox is so out of touch now. @@damanwithoutbrain2371
The problem with all free services is that they are not sustainable. When they blow up, investors will immediately show up and throw loads of money at the project, when the hype dies down and profits decrease, these investors start pressuring the owners of said project to make more revenue-driven choices, leading to the projects decline. It's a tale as old as time Edit: I have corrected it now guys

There was a major court case that set the percipient for this type of stuff. It's Dodge v Ford, and it was back during 1919. It basically made it so any publicly traded company MUST operate in the interest of shareholders, instead of operating for the benefit of employees or customers. It's why so many companies make these terrible decisions. And despite how anti consumer the law is and how many people are against it, it will likely be impossible for it to be appealed due to lobbying.
And that's what I don't get. You'd think doing something so horribly stupid that hemmorhages all your users like this would _not_ be in the shareholders' interest, but I guess it is. Somehow.
Hi, Guilded Partner here since 2020, usually any and all changes were always discussed with the partners then beta tested and revised then tested some more and then pushed out. It was fun to see Discord push the same updates out 3-6 months later after Guilded did. Unfortunately, when the Guilded Staff pinged us (the partners) to tell us what was happening there was no open communication; it was stated as fact and done deal. The partner server absolutely blew up and (I could be wrong) there were only 1-2 partners who were vocally okay with this change. Even hard core Roblox players who were also guilded partners were NOT OKAY with this. Most all people who were on Guilded were there because, like you said, we HATE discord for our own personal reasons but because of this change we'd all rather go back to a product we hate than make the Roblox account. Sure it's easier to make the account, but this goes beyond 'what's easy' and it's the principle of the situation. After a few hours of pure chaos in the partner server we realized that the Guilded staff isn't to blame as they are doing what they are told by Roblox (so you are 100% correct on that), so we took to twitter and reddit blasting out Roblox.
I kinda saw this outcome from the beginning. The moment they were acquired by Roblox their death was inevitable. Roblox as a company is one of the worst out there arguing that what they do is not child labor but rather beneficial to the child's development. one exec even said that its kinda like child labor but its not because those kids can make a living and support their families or something similar. The acquisition by Roblox should have been the call to leave in my opinion any other company I would have been okay with but they have proven time and time again that they do not listen to their users and even if a change is universally hated they will do it anyway. It's sad to see Guilded go, but I hope another platform can rise from its grave or it can somehow save itself.
@@biteingcobra363 you are right; a lot of people DID leave when Roblox bought them out saying this change would be inevitable however it was in writing and promised over and over that Guilded would remain the same (as the video stated) I was there when it was promised to us that nothing would change so we chose to trust.... big mistake.
The helldivers thing is still not resolved because on steam you still cant buy the game in those 177 regions (you can play if you bought it before) so because they couldnt get numbers they just showed us a middle finger and no one is really talking about it thinking it was over
Add on to the fact that *all* of Sony's new PC releases will require the PSN account, making all the new releases region locked. I was super excited to buy Ghost of Tsushima (and play the co-op with a friend), but alas, the game doesn't exist on my Steam anymore...
Taking Tcmich's (who I consider a friend of mine) idea, and posting my own experience as well: I was mentioned in the video at around 7:20, before this video came up I officially stepped down from the mod program, gg, and partner. I also have archived my servers and RG's channels are archived as well. Many community members I know have up and left, and switched back to Discord in an attempt to show our stance against this change. But with it being a couple of days from the announcement. No official word has been made. I also have word from someone reliable that Guilded's entire mission has changed and this is a change that will not be reverted. I'm really upset to see this platform go as I spent the past 3 years repping this platform, helping it grow, and helping moderate its servers. But, all good things must come to an end. p.s. I appreciate the mention of my blog post!
@@s.r.1048 I already have a Roblox so in the long run this change doesn’t affect me. I’m stepping away from the Guilded community because it’s becoming a product I don’t want to support and they will no longer listen to their community. I’m friends with multiple staff and I can tell you already this is a set decision and they’re not changing it. This change overall is bad. Something that isn’t mentioned in the announcement is that if your RBLX account has moderation action taken against it now, you won’t be able to log into your Guilded account. This entire change goes against Guilded and Roblox’s first promise when the acquisition went through; “Guilded will continue to operate as an independent product group.”
Knowing Roblox's Community, this is going to be a fucking disaster and grooming and all of other weird illegal stuff is going to happen on Guilded now....
Fun Fact: Legacy youtube accounts are STILL allowed to migrate to todays Gmail accounts (if you somehow still have one) it will automatically prompt to change to a gmail upon signing in Now why is there this sudden trend of locking you out completely and just deleting things if you dont migrate accounts in time? It happened with Minecraft (people paid and lost years worth of stuff because of that migration) it tried to happen with Helldivers, now its going on here
You don't lose stuff in Minecraft because your account is deleted. Your worlds are stored locally and any account can access them that you log into on your computer. It's still terrible that you would have to buy the game again, but you didn't lose the worlds at least.

Guilded Partner here (but don't care anymore). I can assure you that a lot of the partners are not happy with this change also. The vast majority of the partners are moving back to Discord (or have already moved before this even took place). I think a lot the pushback has to do with we weren't told a single thing about this until it was implemented by the Guilded Staff. There was no communication with the partners that this change was coming. Honestly it feels like Mixer all over again. And I totally agree with you. Guilded will become an icon on the wall at some point while Roblox just "eats" it and then shuts it down. It's only a matter of time. If I was on the staff there I'd be looking elsewhere for work. I think it might happen a bit quicker than you think though because no one asked for this change.
They should make it so that users can add their Roblox accounts if they want to but they should be able to sign in using email or google. Making users sign in with a mandatory Roblox account feels like a limitation and introduces unnecessary friction between eager users willing to make the switch from Discord.
yes but no, because the whole reason is to make people create roblox accounts to inflate the userbase leading to increase in stocks, without mandatory sign in, no one would make a new account
@@eriottomakurashi they will always want more, it’s simple capitalistic greed really, the people with the most will always want more, leaving people with less feeling upset that stuff keeps getting taken away
the reason why they did this is after years, guilded still has barely grown but has kept the diehard fans from switching. they thought of 2 scenarios with this decision: 1- diehard fans stay on the platform, will get a huge influx of users from roblox once they integrate it into the client 2- diehard fans will leave, killing maybe 50-100k of its active members, but will now introduce it to a community with over 300 million people. guilded was never going to succeed. roblox knew that, saw an opportunity, and went for it. it's a huge middle finger to the current users of guilded.
I think people need to realize at this point that websites with little to no ads and mostly free features ARE NOT SUSTAINABLE and never have been. There's a reason companies have been charging more for features lately, and it's not just because of corporate greed. For example, Twitter has run at a loss for its entire existence.
It's the enshitification process. Most IT startups go through it. . . Develop a product, release it for free, get popular, attract venture capital investment, get bigger, faster, approach market saturation. . . Now the VC wants a return on investment. How does the company make money on a free product? Subscription Tier lists. . . Reduce the "free" version to bare bones of what people were using, put what they were using beind a premium pay wall.
@@Dadum-bassI don’t necessarily think this is the case now. Roblox has enough resources and the cost to keep guilded up are not that much (relative to what fix and variable costs Roblox has). Roblox can use their own servers. I therefore don’t think that there will be an enshittification process, Guilded is not really what they make profit with. At least for now. But I could imagine, to make Roblox premium more attractive they add features in Guilded
@amogoose2971 Valve is a special case since they make games/consoles, and they also run a virtual marketplace. Essentially, they sell a product and facilitate the selling of more products (where they get a cut). Then you have things like Discord. You can use Discord without spending a single cent. Because they don't run ads, anyone who doesn't buy anything is ultimately a net loss for Discord. Discord has been private thus far, but their ownership has been considering going public because they're hemorrhaging money sustaining the platform. Gilded is the same issue, and TeamSpeak avoids it because TeamSpeak requires money for anything above ~10 people. As suckish as going public is, services that give so much for free don't have a better option if people aren't paying into the system
@Moonlit_Vibes Nah that would be too easy, they will just eat the whole message like this ######### and its up to you to figure out what the problematic word is (it was typing 'this')
Discord has just devolved beyond a simple IRC/Voice chat client. We didnt want to go back to an older UI/unencrypted server so we left it for Element on a matrix homeserver and have been pretty happy. If Guilded falls though. Discord is going to up all its prices very quickly.
Wish i could use matrix more often but i just barely know anyone that even uses it. Just one small Splatoon community. But all other communities and games lock me to Discord.
roblox already consciously ignores the piles and piles of child predators and horrible people and irresponsible and corrupted moderators on their own platform, I don't even wanna know what's going to happen to this one
I think Roblox's plan isn't to make Guilded a better communication service. It's just to bring in more Roblox users. They only bought Guilded for the reason to sacrifice it for their own personal gain.
@@eriottomakurashi roblox fucks everything up I thought this was like basic knowledge by now also, they are 100% trying to make guilded their own discord, they've been slowly but surely adding discord related features over the years so when they take over it's main competitor it's pretty clear what they want

The investors' dream of infinite growth is exactly that: just a dream. It's impossible to maintain forever. A lot of companies were winning big during the pandemic, but couldn't keep up with it afterwards. That's why so many people were laid off in so many companies. You saw it in Discord, but also Microsoft laying off the people that made Hi-Fi Rush, an insanely successful game, or Wizards of the Coast firing writers and more (including the contact person Larian had for Baldurs Gate 3). Any company with investors behind it is doomed to be ruined by greed.
Worst of all, even if they do succeed... what comes after? Once you achieve max users by having the whole world (yes, even newborns somehow) subscribed... how do you go beyond, then? Find alien lifeforms? They should figure out there's a hard limit that they can and will reach even if all goes perfectly well (which cannot), so infinite growth just cannot happen. And yet, something so simple eludes their minds. It's so baffling... They earn so much money and yet they aren't able to think about something so basic. It's sad. And infuriating. You'd expect people who were smart enough to reach such positions and important roles would breed innovation and make things better and then they act like retards and only ruin everything.

Every company you mentioned has the same top shareholders. For a few years now Roblox has been the testing ground for the direction said top shareholders intend to drive every other platform they control: platform-wide AI integration including every aspect of game development and AI-driven invasive biometric data collection in the name of 'safety/moderation'. Full immersive ad integration into games that allows brands to sell real products from within games, per-game subscriptions in addition to platform subscriptions. When Roblox switches to a service model, development and groups will be shifted to Guilded. Basically Guilded will be so deeply integrated that it will become necessary for development and selling UGC. Its not looking good for Discord as undoubtedly it will be immediately dominated by those same top shareholders and repurposed in a similar way to Guilded for other platforms. The companies have no choice - if they do not comply, the top shareholders threaten to vote out their board members and withdraw funding. Unfortunately those same top shareholders control every single S&P500 company and are deeply integrated into the government. Fun times.

Sure would've been cool if the internet had this much of an uproar when microsoft forced people into their account system to continue playing minecraft and then proceeded to just take away the game from hundreds of people if they lost their mail or completely dipped out of the minecraft sphere for that time
It’s only happening with Guilded because of it being a “Discord alternative” from the beginning. People joined largely because Discord was worse, now Guilded might be worse, the same people would be willing to move again. No, they didn't forget. They bought Guilded as a quick and easy way to get a functional chat platform for Roblox users. Roblox couldn't care less about existing Guilded users and partners, they are in fact an unnecessary operational expense; freeloaders that don't earn Roblox any money. Just look at these free perks. Hi everyone! Content creator around 7 minutes in the video right here. Let me explain to you all the thought process of that video. At the convention, I received an early ping from the Partner server saying that in about 2 hours, everyone will know that they require Roblox to use Guilded. I had a moment of panic, because I knew this wasn’t going to go over well. Hell, it didn’t go well over with me. That bag you see me throw away has been traveling with me to various conventions since 2019. I’ve been spreading the word about the platform since then. All goodwill got absolutely burned by that singular announcement. Not all is lost though, because I did in fact make a backup server in Discord, just in case something like this happened. TLDR: Former Guilded Partner here. 😂
If guilded dies, discord would have a Nitro Pro Max subscription that moves all the current Nitro features to it and nitro has the nitro basic feature. (The cost for Nitro Pro Max would cost 3x more since Discord is greedy lol)

I’ve been an active member of Guilded for almost two years now and I'm very attached to the community. The recent changes have been disheartening, especially considering the strong connections I've formed. This includes joining the GilGang group and having countless engaging and memorable interactions. It's truly regrettable to see this come to an end. I genuinely hope that Guilded would take the time to understand the impact of their decisions on the community and consider revisiting this change.
If they integrated Roblox more into Guilded I could see it becoming a bigger competitor to Discord because of Roblox's huge userbase. but, for now, nobody is going to be switching over, especially with all this new bs
normal teenagers will leave Guilded, underage kids will join Guilded now, Exactly like the kid in this comment replies who said the n word, Btw report that fatherless degenerate
Roblox has some of the worst moderation, spam, and hacking issues out there. The "foundation" they mention will be practically non-existent. Whenever a major corporation buys out a company and claims they'll be "hands-off," what they really mean is they'll stay hands-off for a few years before eventually ruining the service to make their investors happy.
I'm honestly kind of glad for the username changes, because now we don't have to worry about knowing what special characters people used in their usernames, like italics text, or musical notes, etc. Way easier to mention. I know the downside is that they had to change how you could change your username too, but that's also nice, because I don't have to worry about a user... CHANGING THEIR DISCORD USERNAME FOUR TIMES IN ONE MONTH. (Something I kind of despise about twitter sometimes.)
The whole Roblox login is the same thing that Microsoft did when they took over Mojang. Requiring you to have a Microsoft account to log into your Minecraft account.
Except Microsoft accounts are actually safer in security than mojang which was an upgrade due to having better 2fa and now passkeys. But roblox into guilded makes no sense they are 2 different things.
I still don't like the Microsoft account change, but I can accept it due to Microsoft accounts already being used for a lot of other things and it makes way more sense compared to whatever Roblox and Guilded are doing. Also, this will probably mean that if your Roblox account gets banned, your Guilded account goes down too.

Sony removed the requirement of having the account, but the countries still cannot purchase the game. Those people are still being prohibited the ability to play. A lot of players had refunded their game due to the drama, and cannot repurchase because of this. It may seem everything is fine now due to the rule being changed, but nothing was actually fixed. 10:40 this is absolutely what i see happening. Guilded is just going to be integrated into the site itself and replace the undeniably shitty preswnt roblox social features (would be a direct upgrade to groups for example) Which honestly would be sad for guilded but huge for roblox until you realize theyre gonna repurpose a discord competitor into a (almost literal) playground
The big black thing with the hell divers account entry thing was also the fact that you had to submit your government ID, which gives them a lot more information, and information is money. It still sucks what's happening with guilded, But the backlash paired with the Paramount stock drop scared Sony out of the account stuff.
Not just that, Sony is well known for not even trying to secure user data. So that government ID you're giving them will end up in the hands of hackers during the next annual security breach.
Yep, I'm glad im not the only one seeing this, every gripe i have with things i own seem to be with ones that are from companies that are publicly traded.... strange how that works
I think Roblox's acquisition of Gilded was clear from the start, and it did sign their death warrants. Companies should really know by now that forcing users to have a separate account to log into something is reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy shit
Companies are aware of that most likely. They just wanna go after some investor cash... which dont even experience the product itself in the first place.
Yep, I had faith in the devs at the start but there are so many issues with Guilded I had to leave Gil Gang. Frankly Guilded is a testament of how not to run a company. They write in their handbook that employees Can develop at their own pace with no deadlines, do not require a designer to check their work before release, and ya can't forget... they get unlimited vacations. As a result, we had updates go from monthly to seasonal releases and the number of features to be released was even lower. We had devs that disregarded what feedback we had and released uncomplete features without any quality. As a former GG member, I remember how common it was for us to sarcastically throw jokes about how slow an update took, and how our feedback wasn't heard. Do you know what Guilded reps said? They told us to be more positive as it's not very "representative of guilded"... well it so happens they just really hate to admit the company policy sucks, the devs don't care about the community, and they were hanging by a thread... So I quit GG a few months ago before this. Sent a formal message requesting my leave and slowly stopped using it. I learned that when you aren't shilling Guilded, its practically useless. Stick with discord people. As crappy as they can be, they at least run a company that is managed properly, release features with a deadline, and has the right amount of development put into each with quality checks before publishing.
The moment they announced it I knew they just nuked themselves. Such a good app wasted like that. I have a Roblox account and I play it sometimes, and even then, I know this is a very dumb way to kill your app.
Well, startups usually do end up that route. A lot of good startups do. Just because startups are usually done out of passion, they aren't very profitable, require lots of work, and when a company comes to you with a good pack of money and tells you, hey, would you sell us your startup for this chunkload of cash that otherwise will take you like 20 years to make, it's difficult to say no, almost impossible. But if every user of a startup which they find useful would just donate $1 per month, it could've been completely different story. Go through list of services you're using and check without which one your experience would degrade, and consider a donation maybe...
BTW, Helldivers 2 is still unavailable to Purchase on steam in those 173 countries despite no longer needing a PSN account to play it. @@ፔ̇_ፔ̇ They kind of have that (automatic condo detection), like so many players joining a newly game and blacklisted models, but again, the condo owner bypasses that, like it looks like it's just normal, but when they join the game and the owner sets up the condo on that server (which they called loading for them), that means only that server is a condo, and they did on the private servers too, so it will be harder to roblox to ban it.
Who wouldn't have expected this? It's just the natural turn of events. Guilded was never going to last and its integration into roblox(making it a premier roblox platform) was just inevitable.
It's the perpetual cycle. Platform pushes out unpopular update, people get offended and flock to newer alternative platform, new platform see the influx of users and tries to capitalize, people get offended by that move and reluctantly go back to the original platform.
@@NorthStarBlue1 yep. these companies start out of love for the platform, but then they start bleeding money, bad, so they look for investors. those investors demand a return on capital, which requires monetization, or in this case, integration. i think this is honestly a better alternative than forcing people to pay for a product they won't get much out of, but the people have decided what they want and it's definitely not to integrate to roblox. unfortunately, guilded are already between a rock and a hard place.
@@xenai. People hating on discord is really the stupidest braindead meme ever. It's a great DM/IM/videocall/screensharing app. The supposed bad is mostly the servers, which no one is forced to join. Just avoid the bad ones, it's not that hard. Predators on the app are not in the slightest something particular to discord, it's just how the internet and any private messaging feature works ANYWHERE. Privacy concerns are the only valid argument, but people are fools if they think it's better anywhere else. Otherwise it does almost everything better than all alternatives. Nitro is necessary to sustain it, and while the limitation for screen sharing and file sharing are annoying, they are not that big of a deal. Basically the only thing i could ever agree on is that discord should raise file size cap to 50 MB at the very least (because what does it matter if i send 5 10MB files or 1 50MB file?), and screen sharing quality to 720p minimum. Otherwise it does everything you would want it to, perfectly fine. Even then for those things there's a point to be made about bandwidth and storage concerns (financially speaking).
All this reminds me of is when Microsoft acquired Minecraft, made us make a Microsoft account, and then screwed everything up and made it unbelievably paid now. (They didn't have Minecoins, paid skins, resource packs, maps, servers, and pretty much anything before. But now they do, and it all costs a fortune too)
I don't mind the concept of microtransactions, but they do cost a fortune as you say. 4-12 €$£ for a picture on your avatar in Discord is ridiculous. How much did it cost to make that artist draw it? How many will buy it for 50 cent?
The real kicker is that a good chunk of everything you can do for free in Java alone, such as making texture packs, custom worlds, servers, modding, is not only something you have to pay for on Bedrock, But because of the way the marketplace is currently, Microsoft is actively encouraging plagiarism and theft _because_ a chunk of the stuff you pay for is also stuff _entirely unrelated people_ have made for Java for the significantly lower price of *free.*
I'd argue the Microsoft accounts are at least a bit different, because they're so ubiquitous that it doesn't matter. Almost all Minecraft players are Windows users, and anyone with Windows has a Microsoft account a priori, so it's more just logging in with an account you already have. Meanwhile, most Guilded users *aren't* ROBLOX players, and don't have an account.

10:35 idk about you guys but this sounds like it would go hard. Like discord killed off online forums anyways so guilded just being a part of the roblox app would be like a revival of the roblox forums in a sense
I'll be honest, despite every problem basically throwing themselves at Discord, it is like TH-cam; Despite all the challenges this company faces, Discord somehow stays up and running whilst the competitors don't for some reason. Guilded was a competitor but didn't really have that staying power and advertising Discord did is all I have to say.
It's probably bc smth like that is super unsustainable and anyone who tries to be a competitor is usually too small to keep it running in the long run, and then the instant they sell it off to a big corporate company it's basically dead, shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Like, you have to be a pretty big deal to not die off to an acquisition, like how Minecraft is still alive even after being diddled by Microsoft. Meanwhile Skype on the other hand just got absolutely blasted by Zoom
The main reason is because both Discord and TH-cam run at a loss. To be able to compete, you have to either put a fee on it, use add/data collection, or get money from a parent company/investors
@No Text To Speech The problem is Discord is making changes that is going to piss users off that switched over from Guilded. Discord is killing bots. Not outright killing them but forcing them to all use in discord payment systems leading to them losing 30% or more in revenue to fees to the point a lot of bots won't be able to stay up anymore. So honestly the login thing that Guilded users have problems with is the least of their problems as Discord is starting this crap. I'm tempted to going back to running my own TeamSpeak Server.
What is it with companies wanting to force you to login a certain way, first Microsoft with Minecraft, then Sony with Helldivers, now Roblox with Guilded, and I'm sure plenty more

2:15 This literally reminds me of the Helldiver's 2 PS account situation. I mean at least you knew it was gonna happen eventually there. Annddd... You mentioned it in this same video haha
That thing didn't only happen with helldivers 2. Minecraft got a similar situation, where if you didn't migrate to a microsoft account, your mojang account got deleted
Does anyone even remember that Mojang accounts were themselves a forced migration? Back in 2011 you just had a Minecraft account. I've lost mine because of it, the email account that I used then has been gone for years (hey I was just 11) and finding the proof of purchase was fruitless because my dad won't bother looking for the payment confirmation (which I assume would end up on his email and not the one that was gone? Since this was literally the Mojang suggested solution to email being gone). In the Mojang account era my account *sorta* worked but with very limited functionality; I couldn't change skins or do anything that involved the website, basically; only log into the game. At some point before or during the Microsoft account migration it stopped working entirely. Now I have a new account because Windows 10 Edition (back when it was called that) was on sale for dirt cheap (I think I've paid less than $4) and later they made it so that PC Bedrock and Java are a single purchase so I got Java again.

@@Dadum-bass that's why you shouldn't turn your company public, even though it would be harder it's better in the long run. look at valve for example

Can we rename them this?

That’s why you play Java, which has remained unchanged since Microsoft aquired Mojang
The real kicker is that a good chunk of everything you can do for free in Java alone, such as making texture packs, custom worlds, servers, modding, is not only something you have to pay for on Bedrock,
But because of the way the marketplace is currently, Microsoft is actively encouraging plagiarism and theft _because_ a chunk of the stuff you pay for is also stuff _entirely unrelated people_ have made for Java for the significantly lower price of *free.*
Microsoft owned Minecraft for like 7 years before even introducing MS accounts into the game (at least the Java version).
I'd argue the Microsoft accounts are at least a bit different, because they're so ubiquitous that it doesn't matter. Almost all Minecraft players are Windows users, and anyone with Windows has a Microsoft account a priori, so it's more just logging in with an account you already have.

Just so we're clear.
and i still wont buy games that require PSN, even if they "recalled" a decision.
i'm already bothered enough as is that microsoft pulled this shit with minecraft

Türkiye banned Discord 2 days ago. Luckily, my friends and I found this app 5 months ago and now we hang out in guilded. Sometimes we open a VPN and enter Discord.
The worst thing for us former die-hard Guilded users is that not liking Discord is an understatement, but now the situation has become lesser of two evils, where, unfortunately, Discord wins.
is making a roblox account that takes 10 seconds to make rlly worse than discords shitty decisions
@@firicel0072 yes, because not everyone wants to create even more accounts for more platforms (especially ones they don't care about), just to access another platform.
@@RiskiVR yeah that is annoying but being forced to spend a minute to create an account with the same username and password as your Guilded account can't possibly be worse than half the stuff that Discord has done. Your Guilded login is going away, so it isn't even an extra account to keep track of, just replacing one login with a different one.
@@zirconiumdiamond1416 did you forget the point about when roblox gets blocked in certain countries and so then it also blocks the people in those countries from using guiled. Clearly you don't fully understand the issue.

@@cx.rry_mx.ndspace Nah Skype was replaced by Discord but yeah any competitor that isn't somewhat prepared is doomed to be part of internet flopstory.
The main reason is because both Discord and TH-cam run at a loss. To be able to compete, you have to either put a fee on it, use add/data collection, or get money from a parent company/investors
At 3:25 you said "until January 15th" although the text clearly reads "July 15" thought id let you know, good video tho !!
0:42 never a good thing LOL brother never saw what happens to acquired companies
lol i literally deleted guilded yesterday and i see this
What is it with companies wanting to force you to login a certain way, first Microsoft with Minecraft, then Sony with Helldivers, now Roblox with Guilded, and I'm sure plenty more

This implies average people use open source stuff knowingly, which they don't.
FOSS doesn't even exist as a concept to them, there's only paid and "free" things
@@RadikAlice Yeah, many people in tech overestimate how much the average person knows. I recently had a discussion with my mum about copyright laws, and discovered that she didn't know what copyright even is. Nevermind licenses. What do you mean, I'm not allowed to rip my own CDs?? I can't share pictures I found on the internet??? I can't use that picture of myself because the photographer didn't give me their permission????? Yeah, fun times. I wish copyright wouldn't exist.
@@MyFedora If copyright/Licenses/patents didn't exist anyone could take stuff and sell it as their own, say you spent a year making a painting and wanted to sell it and copyright laws didn't exist? Yeah they're just going to take the preview photo and pay someone else a 1/8th the price to paint it and you wouldn't be able to do anything, Copyright Laws exist to protect those who's entire career or life is around a certain product or service
@@theengineer2017 I suggest you read a copy of the book “Walled Culture” by Glyn Moody and re-evaluate what you wrote.
I'm not sure where you got your views about copyright from, but the educational system tends to speak very favorably about copyright laws in my experience. Rarely if ever do they talk about the rather dubious history behind or the drawbacks of copyright laws.
Sorry, but I'm not that interested in debating copyright laws with a party that already firmly believes that copyright is a holier than thou concept that shall not be touched because it would hurt the poor artists, even though I personally believe that artists benefit more from a lack of copyright laws, like they have in the past.
@@MyFedoraIMO the only people I see on the internet that argue about degrading copy right protections are pro-AI ppl that believe they should fine freely scraping and using the data from people’s works for their AI’s.

2:15 This literally reminds me of the Helldiver's 2 PS account situation. I mean at least you knew it was gonna happen eventually there.
Annddd... You mentioned it in this same video haha
@UTTPJimmyKimmel you know I can report all your comments all day long
And an even earlier example being the Microsoft Account requirement for Minecraft which also got hit with backlash (Not sure about bans from nations)
@@kilgorby1377 And the bot is gone
@@xGOKOPxCOD can rerelease the same game every single year for decades but god forbid a game you only play once every 3 years forces you to secure your account. the agony.
the hilarity in roblox saying best communication platform as if roblox doesnt have one of the most over the top censorship in their chat
I remember first hearing about Guilded because the infamous game journo who couldn't beat Cuphead's tutorial was shilling it and literally the only thing it had over Discord at the time was that it had a calendar.
Everything I’ve learned about the guy who couldn’t beat the cuphead tutorial has been against my will
Let's hope, that Revolt Chat manages to get some (positive) attention. But tbh, Discord is way to big to be beaten that easily.

@@NuchiAsaki But.. Skype is still popular!?
@@ReniPlays The only people using Skype are boomers and people have need to use it to talk to the boomers.
on behalf of Discord, considering how many users and how many data it process every day, its gotta be hella expensive. I remember during the early lockdown when everyone started to hop on discord, they actually informed that they are literally running dry and break even and Microsoft attempted to buy out Discord.
I dont like corporate greed either, but I feel like Discord had no choice. either go under into debt or accept corporate greed. what I will say though is that whatever Discord is doing right now HAS TO BE better than whatever Microsoft planned for Discord back in 2021
Discord when the servers are coming back to it:
"You couldn't live with your own failure, where did that bring you? back to me"
Never knew Guilded even existed till now

Where do you live??
Worst is i live in turkey and BOTH roblox and discord is banned
Also you need to be corrected again. Sony is still getting away with the Helldivers 2 thing. 177 countries now can't even play or purchase the game
They can still purchase it, right? Just playing doesn't work. Not saying that it makes sense to do so, just that it's possible. It is, right?
it’s not just the users and communities, even Guilded Bots are shutting down completely, for example Parrot is shutting down, ReGuilded the client mod is shutting down, after this change Guilded will pretty much be a ghost town. Literally every single server is switching and finding alternatives I joined
Going outside and not staying on discord and not getting too addicted is the best advice in particular.
