Melodie Nicolle is a fiber artist based in Caen, France.
Her works centre around softness and textures.
She uses strictly vegan and cruelty-free materials and spins her own yarns from vegan fibers using traditional carding and spinning techniques.
As a self-taught fiber artist suffering with severe anxiety, Melodie considers her work to be a meditative and therapeutic practice, one that allows her to find beauty and meaning in each piece as she steps out of her mind and into her heart, intuitively trusting the fibers and her hands.
Currently day 4 without power from hurricane beryl but lucky to have a generator to which my dad plugged the WiFi box in along with other stuff and I get to watch something so satisfying to pass the time and make things just a bit easier ❤

My worst trait is seeing anything involving fiber arts that I’ve never tried before and immediately thinking “I bet I could totally do that!” And then I fall down a long rabbit hole of tutorials and end up with a whole new hobby haha! I already crochet like crazy, I MUST make my own yarn somehow!! 💖😂 this whole process seems almost therapeutic!
Edit: and you use vegan fibers!!!! 😱❤️ I’m subscribing for sure!
Aw thank you!! And that is something I can totally relate to honestly! Been trying a lot of different thing about thankfully honestly stuck with a handful otherwise, I would need a whole house as a studio space! 😅
And that yarn making process s indeed very therapeutic for me, it is my therapy of choice against my anxiety disorder 🙌

Can you share what you’re using as the core yarn and if you are spinning it such that it twists the core yarn plies tighter or untwists them? You’re getting a beautiful even Yarn that I’ve not ever been able to achieve myself. Lovely work.

Aw thank you and welcome! 🥰 I started spinning because I was super envious of my fellow weavers artists working with super cool art yarns and I couldn't find much vegan alternatives (they were all made with wool). So I thought I would just make my own! Then I got addicted and couldn't stop spinning new yarns so I started selling them too! 😅 I am teaching online classes so if you are ever interested, I would be thrilled to teach you how to spin! 🙌 Thanks for being here ❤

My carder is from Brother Drum Carder in the USA, and it's amazing! Highly recommend! 😊
Do you sell this yarn or do you knit from it yourself??
I both use them in my own work and also sell them in my shop 😉I’m not a knitter though, I weave with my yarns. Most of my yarns are meant for weaving and while I know some of my customers sometimes knit of crochet with it, I can’t recommend it myself from just a lack of personal feedback 😅
