- This was one of the most beautiful days we have had in a long time, and I had to get out and capture some LIRR action on the triple track. I had the added bonus of aircraft poised to land at JFK’s runway 22 which places them right over the stations that I visited. Great railfanning and flying weather. We visit Merillon Avenue, New Hyde Park, and Floral Park. The twilight action that I saw at Floral Park was intense under a scintillating sunset. This was one of the more enjoyable LIRR railfanning sessions that I’ve had in recent memory.
These videos of the rails in Northeast, I find absolutely beautiful! I can only wish there was such a rail system here, the Southeast, way down south. We have a "so called" bright line of rail, but that remains to be seen.
Great work! You captured loads of action on the rails and in the sky from a sunny afternoon, through the golden hour and into twilight. Recently retired airline captain here, but I've always loved trains. Grew up on the Hempstead Branch and flew into all 3 NYC airports often. These scenes took me back to my teen years. If they hadn't invented planes, I suspect I would have had a career operating locomotives somewhere. I grew up on LI but I haven't been back in a while (no more family there). If and when I visit, I'd love to buy you lunch at your favorite trackside diner. Cheers
Thank you much. !!!
Awesome catches all around!!! The JFK action is great at the Elmont UBS arena station!!!
My favorite part was when the train entered the station
22:40 Glad they're bringing at least some of those Brooklyn Hempstead trains back. That was one of the worst casualties of the East Side Access and Third Track projects imho. It's just not super convenient to go all the way from the eastbound tracks at Jamaica to 10/11 and get one of the shuttles. Ugh!
Your mainline railfanning videos are some of my favorites! Watching them sure has me missing NY.
29:54 and beyond, gotta love that view. Best spot on that platform.
28:46 / 29:27 M7 echo 😊
You and those echoes 😂😂
@@3985uprr Can't help it. I'm addicted to that sound.
😂My good buddy here in California is from Boston. He said he hates the Yankees so badly, if they were playing the Russians, he'd cheer for the Russians!😮
A man I could have a glass of wine or two with. Go Red Sox!! A true Yankee is from Boston ☘️☘️
@@3985uprr My buddy told me the Red Sox aren't a ball team, they're a Religion
Wow!! Trains and planes!! Perfection!! Thanks Tim👌💚
Did u see the flying Yankee engineer yesterday
The video will answer your question
Splendid
Notice on the M7’s the south side of every consist, or the side that faces south, rather, has all the windows blurred out. I’m amazed they won’t fix that.
It stinks
@@3985uprr I’ve addressed it with them a few times and all they say is that it’s oxidation.
I was at Cold Spring Harbor that day and saw the Flying Yankee
Little correction 558 is from HPA
I made a few little mistakes
Good to see those Grand Classic M3s and Fresh M9s featured again @ 1:23 | 6:44 | 14:31 | 15:46 | 21:20 | 26:44 | 31:32 | 37:40 | 42:58.
Thank you for yet another scenic, action-packed and informative "Rail n' Air show' on the LIRR!
When are you going to Railfan Caltrain ?
Fairly soon.
Have you railfaned the Staten Island at all?
Couple years ago I did if you look hard back in time, you’ll find a couple of videos I did
The main line triple track is Rule 261 right?
Very much so
Have you ever eaten at The Harrison in floral park. Its right across the street within feet of the train station. a tad pricey but incredible food and incredible staff
I saw it. Didn’t eat there
This earned a spot in my Train_racetracks playlist.
Excellent video. I am now a retired rail fan myself.
That is awesome!
Trains + planes = perfection
Quick question, How did you meet the flying yankee?
Offhand, I can’t recall. one thing led to another. A friend of mine knew him
@@3985uprr oh ok very cool
Always wondered why so many cargo 747s fly to Anchorage from JFK. There must be a huge distribution center up there.
That and it’s a refueling stop.
Great to see the planes mixed with the trains.
If I can.
