My headcanon regarding these two is that Splatter and Dodge were being trialed during the events of Magic Railroad before they were both sent back to the Other Railway for association with Diesel 10’s confusion and delay. In my own Thomas AU, though, they’re British Railway shunters who later came to Sodor alongside their cousins Sidney and Paxton. The “Splodge” duo currently reside at the Ironworks; while Sid/Pax reside at the Dieselworks
Splatter and Dodge have been utterly robbed of their planned reappearances in the show. Such a shame the both of them and Diesel 10 weren’t given anything major to do after Magic Railroad.
I like to imagine that Splatter and Dodge pled guilty to their crimes of confusion and delay after The Magic Railroad, and were thus placed in the witness protection program as Arry and Bert
I wish we got more of Splatter and Dodge. The duo of sarcastic incompetent henchmen is a favorite trope of mine, and it doesn't exist anywhere else on Sodor. I’d have loved it if they could have stayed on as cronies for Deisel, helping him in his schemes but being the first to laugh at him when things didn't go his way
I am completely aware as well that Splatter and Dodge were originally intended to return in Day of the diesels in the great race along with Dennis, I wish that it happened so we could’ve seen more of the two silly diesels
I feel the same way about Diesel 10's screaming face, which was actually used in the movie lol. I guess they were just trying to make the characters more expressive for the big screen, but it just turned out horrifying lol.
That would've been a great idea if 'Arry and Bert's models weren't recycled into Splatter and Dodge. Splatter and Dodge's OWN models would've been built for Thomas And The Magic Railroad and 'Arry and Bert's models would've just been given a matte finish for Series 6. Of course, Splatter and Dodge can still be Class 08 diesels if you know what I mean.
I remember as a kid thinking Arry and Bert were originally Dodge and Splatter, and changed their names and paint schemes after Diesel 10’s demise. Also looking at that unused laughing face, Ghost Face anyone? I mean, Magic Railroad and Scream 3 both came out the same year……
That’s because it’s been rumoured that Hornby were going to make Splatter and Dodge, but were changed at the last minute to Arry and Bert, hence their faces
For the unused faces of all of the engines you should make replica of them to put of your collection to see what they would look like on the engines if they would used in the show
A really interesting engine or engines I would like to know the history of is Mighty Mac, I just think they’re a really unique interesting design and must have some history behind them
@@milligano1235 Maybe budget reasons? They were yellow/mustard and apparently one side would've been energetic and optimistic and the other one quiet and pesimistic, interesting concept in my opinion
I remember a long time ago, I had done a video about some behind the scenes facts and at the time, it was thought that Arry & Bert and Splatter & Dodge's models were the same models and a lot of people kept telling me this was wrong, even through I said in the description I already knew that! Thank goodness this has since been confirmed to be true after all. I just wish people would read the description of videos BEFORE commenting on what I got wrong because I say in the description of my videos that I already know this info so people wouldn't point it out. Not so they would point it out anyway. For some time, I had to disable the comments on my video because I got sick and tired of people telling me the same things over and over again.
I do remember there was supposed to be an episode where Splatter & Dodge returned but I can only assume the idea was scrapped for what I don’t really know
splodge was gonna appear dotd but they were replaced by paxton and sidney, sam wilkinson said splodge was gonna appear tgr but were replaced by the mainland diesels
It makes no sense that any characters introduced in TATMR spoke with American accents because they were all based on British/European locomotives, none of which have ever been to the States to my knowledge.
But I thought the mentioned of splatter and Dodge painted back as Arry and Bert is a rumor and the real reason is Splatter and Dodge never came back from Canada because they were lost and Arry and Bert are new models?
I never much liked Splodge. They really feel like a great example of "modern" Thomas characters - ones inserted into the story with no good reason or rhyme as to why they should exist. Iron 'Arry and Iron Bert at least have a reason to exist - they're clearly privately owned engines like Bill and Ben; not part of the NWR, but owned by the Sodor Ironworks company. Given how they exclusively seem to work among scrap and breaker's yards it's no wonder that they would come off as antagonistic, either.
I guess the guy Chris lioyd who said that splatter and dodge's models got lost another words never return from canada was not true. So basically when splatter and dodge's model was brought back, they painted them back to arry and bert. But to be more specific it doesn't mean splatter and dodge are arry and bert, because if you think about it they have beards and splatter and dodge don't, and second arry and bert appeared in season 5 which was before thomas and the magic railroad, so I guess the studio couldn't afford another diesel model to paint into splatter and dodge. It would've been cool if splatter and dodge came back.

Makes sense to me and yes The Fat Controller would be most cross at the confusion and delay those two along with 10 caused.
My two favorite pairs of twin diesels! Wonderful custom as well, mate
Thank you so much brother man :)
@@ItsTrainBoy aye you're the one posting the vids, thank *you*

In subscriber to you and I love your thunderbirds videos
At least Diesel 10 has Day of the Diesels, terrible movie, but it's something
@@radioactivevolt He also reappeared in Calling All Engines and made a cameo in the Great Discovery
Are Splatter and Dodge Mainlanders? Were they likely from the Mainland, which could be another reason why they never appeared again?
I love this channel.
Me too!
Me three
Me four
Personally I'd recommend a super obscure character such as whiff
That unused face @5:15 is frightening!
I like to imagine that Splatter and Dodge pled guilty to their crimes of confusion and delay after The Magic Railroad, and were thus placed in the witness protection program as Arry and Bert

They were planned for day of the diesels and the great race but were scrapped
Did you know that Arry and Bert's color design was based on the NS (Dutch Railways) class 600 diesel shunters
Interesting
Finally my country gets some recognition
I am completely aware as well that Splatter and Dodge were originally intended to return in Day of the diesels in the great race along with Dennis, I wish that it happened so we could’ve seen more of the two silly diesels
Jesus, that laughing face is horrifying. Can you imagine any of them with THAT wide smile in the movie?
I thought so too. They may have left it out for that very reason - I know I would've done.
Even though that face was never used in the film, most merchandise of Splatter portrays him with it.
I feel the same way about Diesel 10's screaming face, which was actually used in the movie lol. I guess they were just trying to make the characters more expressive for the big screen, but it just turned out horrifying lol.
@@FurbyMan Is that the one you see when he's destroying Tidmouth Sheds and he's being threatened with sugar? It's pretty goofy.

They absolutely live up to expectations!

Nice, another Trainboy vid
splatter and doge that laughing face says something else 5:15

I figured that Splatter and Dodge's models were eventually changed into Aray and Bert's model. Good job on covering this.
Splatter & Dodge vs Arry & Bert right now GO!
Thomas and Friends series sure loved rostering Class 08s.
Fun fact, Hornby seems to have wanted to replicate what they did in the movie, since theirnArry and Bert models have Splatter and Dodge faces on them.
That’s because it’s been rumoured that Hornby were going to make Splatter and Dodge, but were changed at the last minute to Arry and Bert, hence their faces

5:16 I fear not man. But that thing. It scares me.
Arrys model is now in Drayton manor while Bert is still at Mattel storage
I like that in calling all engines you can see the purple paint under Arry/Bert from when he was dodge
I know this TTTE history series is mostly on the model series but could you do a video on the RWS Character BCE aka Big City Engine
Fact: Splatter and Dodge were meant to be in the CGI movie special twices such as DOTD and TGR, but were dropped.
it would be nice if they appeared in the series in cgi
5:15 god that face is actually terrifying
Dodge: no you do it!
Splatter: yeah we're meaner!
A really interesting engine or engines I would like to know the history of is Mighty Mac, I just think they’re a really unique interesting design and must have some history behind them
Some fun fact I know is that an engine with the same basis as Mighty Mac was planned for season 6 and they were called "Little Giant"

Mighty Mac = Thomas explaining conjoined twins

I love how Splodge and Barry share models but are polar opposites
The Class 08 is *everywhere.*

You mean the day of the diesel
Obscure characters, you say? How about Molly? I know she barely got any screentime, but she's just so striking visually.
The only problem with the custom Splatter is that the face is a tad too low, other than that, it's GREAT! :D
Therapist: Splatter & Dodge's Laughing Face isn't real, it can't hurt you.
NO STOP PLZ NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
As always your content is amazing
Can you do the express coaches next?
So would love to see them come back.
good job dude
I really wish they had brought team Splodge back in CGI…
They were supposed to return in the great race movie as diesel shutters but were dropped
I'd like to see the history behind Neville and his model.
Man, I WISH Splatter and Dodge got more screen time.
Same I wish they returned in day of the diesels.
But they didn't because of the budget issues
Goodness me! That laighing face.😱
great video
Sad that Splatter and Dodge do not show up Anywhere else in Thomas and friends than Thomas and the magic railroad
Yup
I find it very interesting on how Arry and Bert don’t have the same amount of detail as Diesel does
that laughing face is terrifying
When I first saw Thomas and the Magic Railroad, I actually thought Spalter and Dodge were supposed to be 'Arry and Burt.
Splatter and dodge were also going to return in the great race but were dropped and replaced with the mainland diesel shunters
I was very informed that Splatter and Dodge never came back was because their models were damaged. Never knew they were repurposed!
We have enough time to say both names right?

I like your custom! And its totally an "accident" 😉 totally not a teaser for an upcoming custom video-
So... 'Arry and Bert OR Splatter and Dodge? Which are the better pair?
I would like to see a history of the Flying Scotsman.
The history of the Märklin engine could be an intresting challenge
hell yeah ive always loved splodge

What is that laughing face oh God
When hearing that the models (at 3:24) were made in Maya, I freaked out (in excitement) bc I use Maya as well for my modelling lol
thank you train boy can you make a video about molly please
I wonder if squat and Dodge were turned into Arry and Bert.
Awesome 😎
splodge was gonna appear dotd but they were replaced by paxton and sidney, sam wilkinson said splodge was gonna appear tgr but were replaced by the mainland diesels
Can we get a look at puffa or Maybe bulstrode
why did they repaint arry and bert to make splatter and dodge instead of just using arry and bert
Splatter & Dodge were gonna return in Day of the diesels but they were replaced with Sydney & Paxton
Arry and berts models are still in Canada
All I can say is you've done lady, you now done splatter and dodge. All that's left is the big bad diesel himself diesel 10.
Could the next history of be on the express coaches? there's so much history that people don't realize.
Johntehcool1001 said that the models got lost after filming of Thomas and the magic railroad.
Woah 4 for the price of one!
Good video 👍👍
May I suggest an off-rail vehicle for the next episode? Maybe Harold or Trevor?
Very nice 🚂😎👍👍👍👍👍👍🎸🎸🎸
All this time I thought Splatter and Dodge came before 'Arry and Bert but now I know otherwise.
5:16 this is supposed to be a face? for the show?
Splodge is my bread and butter when it comes to Thomas
It makes no sense that any characters introduced in TATMR spoke with American accents because they were all based on British/European locomotives, none of which have ever been to the States to my knowledge.
you should rank the movies or seasons
🧐 That does sound like fun

But I thought the mentioned of splatter and Dodge painted back as Arry and Bert is a rumor and the real reason is Splatter and Dodge never came back from Canada because they were lost and Arry and Bert are new models?
Splatter, Dodge, Diesel, Arry, Bert, Paxton AND Sidney are all 08 Diesel locomotives?
splatter, dodge, arry and bert's scratch models season 5 1998-season 12 2008
How bout doing a history on the history of thomas and the magic railroad to explane some of it thatd my favorit movie thanks

Some things would have been better off if they painted arry in a dark blue
Interestingly enough, the Hornby versions of Arry and Bert ended up using the faces of Splatter and Dodge.
