Fun Fact: the devs of this game made a Dark Souls clone in which it was criticized because of it, but they did got some praise on some aspects they did on the clone. So now they're using the aspects they did on DS clone to make this game.
A sci fi soulsesque game looks good too. Hope it has a great story line to boot .Cant wait to see this game released really excited for a new ip like this.
The gameplay looks really decent and the boss mechanics is a bit creative but can you make the environment more dark and rainy ? not just that the art environment needs more work tbh . hope you guys feed us with more info regarding the gameplay .
I like to see exclusives. I know developers hate them because they want to maximize their audience, and let's face it-- they're a business and not a charity organization. But, when a developer comes out and states exclusivity of a game, that shows confidence. It drives those interested crazy wondering what they're missing out on, and you hear a lot of them in frustration but they can't let it go and so if they want to play it, they know what they have to do. But look at the big exclusives. Did they lose money because they only went one way? Often times they don't. Is it really about maximizing your profits? It is, more so than maximizing your fanbase, because you're not in the business to make friends, you have bills to pay. If you're the sort that likes to deceive people, than you're a magician and you've mastered business. This is what we call a "timed exclusive". You use the method just mentioned to create "scarcity", saying there's only one way to play it, but you say nothing otherwise. You make a ton of money and see the success of your game but you want more, it's not a loyalty thing, you use a little marketing and an old business trick saying "but we want to cater to a bigger audience". Will Sony or Nintendo say anything? No. They don't want you to go but, they're a business too and can't dictate what you do. Thus, your game becomes business until you've been around a few years and then realize who gave you all the shots to make you what you are, like Quantic Dream, then it becomes about loyalty. But, you know what I love most about exclusives? You know why I love Gears of War, Fable, Uncharted, God of War, Mario, Metroid, Heavy Rain, Zelda, and Left 4 Dead? Because the developers have an affinity, a love, an appreciation for technology, an appreciation for those who support them, and a love for the game, that they focus on one thing and base everything around that. That's the hardware. It's an old Nintendo trick, and a trick that's made Nintendo money for years. Its a bit different but the idea is essentially the same and you eliminate a lot of variables that bring you success. Gamers want a game that's fun that won't let them down. Nintendo's philosophy in game design has been to design the game play, something that's fun at its core. Once that's developed, then they create their characters and create a story based around that. Now, what if Nintendo started developing multi-platform? It wouldn't be the same. Nintendo's attention is suddenly divided and the game play mechanic that made it fun becomes their priority, and they use time on their creativity. The same applies to hardware. Developers think: Alright, this is the toolbox we have. How can we get the most out of this toolbox. How can we build our engine (Naughty Dog mentality). Once they've got a solid engine, now they can start working on their game. What game would we want to play? And the game goes on. But, the game works out because everything was optimized and design for one thing. Their attention wasn't devided, and time they could have used wasn't wasted figuring out how to port the game, but was used to tweak and refine, or fine tune what they already had. Thus, you end up with a well designed quality game that functions exactly how you wanted it and time was spent more on making the game fun. That's why I like console exclusives. This game had thought with the game play, but you know they will do great things with future games. A lot of time was spent porting the game by such a small team (comparatively), you see that potential, but ultimately you see this and say, it's a 7.0 to 7.5 game. Not a must have. It's still lacking in depth and quality that was overlooked for the business side of things. And then you look at ReCore and say, that's a 8.7 to 9.0 game. They focused on that Nintendo development process. No strangers to game development. I see the same for Scalebound, Horizon, and God of War has never disappointed. Gears 4 has a reputation already and will score a 9.2 in the end by IGN and will carry 2.8 million units in the end. This game, however, is headed in the right direction but, might only reach a 6.7 in the end. Lacking, but in the right direction. I love and can appreciate in my experience with games over the years, staying in one place and focusing on one thing, besides money, brings success, and thus more funding for more games.

I agree, art in souls is what makes those games so special. The gameplay is good, but if it's slapped in a generic looking game. It won't carry the game by it's self.
I know it isn't the most original thing out there. But it is hard to make something original. I say, if you can't think of something completely original that is also good, use existing concepts, and make something good out of it, as long as you add your own touches to it. I have played plenty of games like that, that I think are amazing, and some even better than where their gameplay concepts came from. This game looks good to me. My only complaint is the setting, not the biggest fan of this version of the dystopian future setting. They are pretty dull to me usually. But that may be a plus for others.
this beginning armor doesn't look that cool, but i think what will draw most people into this is the game play. hopefully later in the game they have better looking armor and weapons.
