    This is an incredible occasion for Mal! Season 13 of the hit sitcom StephenVlog has gone much better for her since her surgery, and I'm sure everyone is glad! Mal's inner screeches have been silenced, and her life is now much calmer and quieter. I remember when she mentioned that after she was fully healed! Congratulations are in order all around. Best wishes to a better life, Mal!

    I actually found the vlog a year ago because of Mal's surgery. I had checked Twitch to see what you guys were playing one week and she wasn't there and Stephen had mentioned she was downstairs recovering from her surgery and I was like "oh what happened?" and just did a youtube search and found the vlog and never looked back haha. It's been incredible to see her recovery and how much better she's doing.

    I’ve been on birth control for “just bad periods” for a few years now, and yesterday my pain came back for the first time. I’m not sure what my next steps are yet, but it’s so uplifting to hear from someone who went through something similar and came out ahead in the end. I appreciate you sharing your journey so much ❤❤

    That reminds me of an episode of Golden Girls where Dorothy was so physically exhausted that she couldn't function. Every doctor told her that she was fine until she went to see her friend who also was a doctor who sent her to the right one. This doctor diagnosed her with CFS or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a disease that could either get better or worse. Luckily, Dorothy got better. So glad you're doing better Mal. I almost cried 😢

    It has been so incredible to see Mal heal and begin to move past this stage in her life. During this year's Extra Life, seeing Mal on the balance board playing Aladdin (or something like that), so vivacious and involved actually had me in awe.

    I am SO, so happy Mal is feeling better. Having endometriosis myself and having excision done really made a big difference in my symptoms. I still have a few twingy feelings on occasion several years out at this point but 98% of the time I'm a-ok. Being in so much pain to the point you're in tears and can't think is no fun!

I hadn't realized she was in so much daily pain- im so glad youve been feeling better mal!!
    ((also as a person with chronic migraines/joint pain this is kinda pushing me to get that checked out... i think when your in pain on the daily its hard to imagine it could ever go away. I'm so happy that your in this new phase of your life!!!))

    5:53 As someone who watches literally all of the content on Vlog/Plays and as a regular Twitch viewer, I've definitely noticed that Mal's wit and humour have become more noticeable.
    Especially on Twitch (and the Pokemon streams are a good example), Mal has this brilliant energy that she brings to the streams, with being quick-witted and sassy.
    It has truly been great seeing Mal recover and be able to live a pain-free life!

    Tell Hailey Thank You for being such a good friend to get mad and push Mal to listen to her body and not the negative doctors. Just because they have a medical degree does not mean they know everything. You know your body best. Keep talking until people listen to you. If you have pain there is something wrong. Pain is the body's cue to say "Hey! Pay attention to Me. Something is happening that isn't supposed to be happening." I am so happy for you that you did keep pushing and finally got someone to listen.

  • @BlazingPhoenixGames

    I was laughing and crying throughout the video since Mal said “I feel no pain”. I followed the story from the point it was brought up that she had Endometriosis, to talks with the doctor, to surgery, the recovery, up until now one year later, after everything. I’m so happy for both Mal having recovered and Stephen being able to not see his wife in that pain any more. I’ve never been as invested in the lives of two strangers on the internet and probably never will be again as much as I am with you two and the community. I’ve even noticed a difference in Mal’s demeanour ever since, with before she was very soft spoken and didn’t speak up as much, but now in another way, soft spoken but very bright and bubbly, almost like an entirely different person.
    This story needs to be shared. Not just to the internet, but to the community at large from the local news. Endometriosis seems to be a relatively new problem and people need to be more aware of it. Mal definitely can be a successful case study for that doctor and clinic where she got the surgery.
    Keep fighting.

    Mal, I'm so glad this has made such a huge difference for you. I've been chronically gaslit by medical people for a number of things. Currently being gaslit because I'm in my 30s and female and not an elderly male, so could not possibly have what I have. Hearing you speak up reminds me that living in my body means I do know what's going on, and to keep fighting when I have energy. Thank you. I needed to hear it.

    • @Kamakiri86
      @Kamakiri86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what you're going through, but, something that can help prevent any future gaslighting by medical professionals is keeping a log, physical or digital, of everything. Dates, times, symptoms, how you feel mentally, etc. The more raw data you have, the easier it'll be to be taken seriously by others.

    • @becca961
      @becca961 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Kamakiri86 thank you. I do, and most specialists outside of the field I need to get diagnosed agree with me. It's the ones in the field who tell me to go see a psychiatrist, or that it's just a medication side effect. My next try is with a woman, and my fingers are crossed.

    Glad to hear you have continued doing so well, Mallory. Glad to know you don’t have to help shoulder that burden with her, Stephen. I can’t speak for that kind of pain or getting surgery, but I know the powerlessness, shame and grief that comes with watching your partner be in pain and have nothing you can do and that is a hell I would wish on no husband or wife
    Hope things continue to go well on the coming year ❤

    Congratulations, Mal. 😊 It's so wonderful to see you looking so vivacious.
    The timing of this vlog is funny, though. I experienced the worst period of my life this past month, and finally put my foot down and got help - despite my family doctor gaslighting me for years and refusing to even refer me to a gynecologist. Gaslighting's an insidious thing: when I saw your video a year ago, I thought, "I'm not as sick as her, so there must be nothing wrong with me after all." As for now, I had an ultrasound on Tuesday, and learned just last night that my left ovary is stuck to my uterus, meaning I almost certainly have endometriosis. Seeing what the end of the journey is like is really comforting today, so thank you. ❤️

This time next year, I will have had it for over 10 years and I've gotten so used to it. Mal ❤❤❤❤❤ I wanna offer the biggest hug to you. I mean just seeing you post-surgery and how _happy_ you've been, how obvious it's been that you _are_ happy... it's so, so nice to see. I cried watching the vlogs post-surgery last year because it just hurt hearing about how healthcare has treated you for so long only for you to finally see that it was really, really, really bad, that it _wasn't_ "just bad cramps" and that, if it had been left untreated for much longer, it could've been very dire. Putting it very lightly, of course. It's just very nice and relieving to see how things have gotten better for you after surgery. I'm so happy for you.

    The pain I’ve felt is vastly different, and the time I dealt with my pain was brief. But it did effect me, heavily. But… now I’m here, I can’t remember the pain. But I know I felt it.
    I’m glad that Mal is better! This sounds weird, but I mean it in a well meaning way!
    And I’m glad she’s at the point where she’s like “when did I last feel that pain?” To me, that means that she’s been enjoying life and that she’s happy.

    Congrats Mal! so happy for you! I have a friend with endo and It's pretty hard watching her have to fight this everyday. But it gives me hope knowing that it can be beat and that she can be better! So thank you for that. And continue to be better!

    I'm really glad you're doing better. And also Mal, thank you for your words here. I've been struggling with a condition (undiagnosed but impossible to ignore whatever it is) for a few years now and even though it's so bad I can't help but doubt myself. But I'll keep on going and keep trusting my instincts, with all this. Hoping things keep going well for you going forward

      Something that can help with not doubting yourself and preventing any future gaslighting by medical professionals is keeping a log, physical or digital, of everything. Dates, times, symptoms, how you feel mentally, etc. The more raw data you have, the easier it'll be to be taken seriously by others and yourself.

    While it wasn't endo, my wife went through very similar gaslighting with her ovarian cysts. For all of her adult life, she was told it'd be unlikely to get pregnant without extensive hormone treatment. She recalls one doctor telling her, as a teenager, that she couldn't get pregnant. As we got closer to wanting to try, another doctor said, "just take birth control, there's not a whole lot we can do with ovarian cysts." Then we found the right doctor and all it took was Letrozole, something to help kick-start her cycle, and that's all it took. Now we have our beautiful baby boy, but looking back makes me furious that she was strung along for as long as she was and that it led her to start telling herself that she couldn't get pregnant. Hearing about how much ibuprofen you would burn through just to stay functional or how you thought hearing the nurses whisper about your historectomy (spelling?) was about another patient makes me just as furious about how gaslit you were too. I'mma just say it, nothing short of sexist. But I'm so grateful that you found the right doctor, and an amazing one at that. I'm glad you have such a powerful support system that pushed you to take this seriously yourself (thank you Hayley). The difference in your demeanor on the vlog is night and day. When you read my dono last Colosseum and your immediate response was "I feel GREAT," I knew you meant it. I'm so happy you're finally feeling better Mal!

    Mal is a strong person and one I admire. I understand the post operation recovery due to my own personal battle of atrial septile defect (Hole in the upper left chamber of the heart) and the Gorge community sent so much good vibes. Recovery is a long process and it can lead to a lot of mental pain. I'm glad Mal had Stephen during the entire time. I'm so proud of Mal and her story. It's so inspiring cause of her battle, and her ambition for her content, I personally made the jump for my art carrer

    Given that ibuprofen is known to be damaging to the stomach when used too regularly without an additional protective medicine to use alongside it, your dietary capabilities may indeed well change. But yeah, definitely test that with a professional, rather than trusting the word of some rando on the internet. Either way, glad you're doing better.

    I have pcos which is typically less violent than endo but I got really lucky. My doctor fights hard for me to get treatments I need. I really won the lottery with doctors because I'm also a Trans guy and my doctor is amazing. I'm so glad too see Mal feeling so much better and see her happy like this. I've been following for a long time and I'm glad Mal can finally live her best life

    Yes, start lifting weights, Mal! You will feel like such a badass when you notice your body changing in response to being strong. It’s a good idea to start with a personal trainer for a few sessions because the weight room at most gyms can be overwhelming for an absolute beginner. Other good options include taking group exercise classes and joining a walking/jogging/biking group

    Hi Mal, I'm really glad to know you've healed and you feel better than ever. I have to admit, the vlog of the day (or was it the day after that? I mean the one when you guys took the trip back home) after surgery was hard to watch, considering I live in a country with universal healthcare and it's unfathomable to me to see a clearly still in-pain patient being discharged from the hospital after such an invasive surgery, but it's great to know it was worth it!
