Fort Bragg is a military site in North Carolina over by Fayetteville where the famous rapper J. Cole is from. It is the largest one on the planet.
It was created in 1918 at the end of WWI. Many Puerto Ricans mostly from San Juan were shipped to North Carolina to begin work on what was then called Camp Bragg. Immediately large numbers got ill and died due to the Spanish Flu. They were there to seek opportunity but the conditions were tough. Plus there was the language barrier. Many of the families of the Puerto Ricans who died were never notified of the deaths. Some were even buried with tombstones that had one word carved into them: Unknown. No name, no date just the word unknown.
The name Bragg is the name of a US Commander, Braxton Bragg, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later became a general in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. It was because of the latter that It was renamed Fort Liberty in 2021 - 2022.

300 years prior as you say our ancestors as well came off the slave ships and fought as our Natives fought not just one but two colonizers. And put this into perspective how many families were separated during the slave trade that who knows our ancestors could be intertwined but destiny had its own ideas.
