This vehicle was modified in 1988 to allow the Kiha 65 type to be connected to the 485 series limited express train. It was connected to the train from Osaka to Fukuchiyama, and ran independently on the non-electrified section from Fukuchiyama to Amanohashidate, contributing to the transportation of tourists, until it was scrapped in 2010.
