    Having an issue getting motors to run with different esc's. Sometimes they need a little coaxing.
    This has Worked for over a Thousand Viewers so far.
    Doing this the way I did was for easier Viewing purposes, However One should Never stand in Front of a plane with props spinning. Also a Good Idea to Clear the Table under and in front of plane.

    I ordered a new ESC thinking that mine was broken. Waiting for the new ESC to arrive I wanted to try anything I could find to troubleshoot my current ESC. After watching your video I tried reprogramming the throttle and sure enough BAM it worked. Thank you so much!

    WOW!! Wish I had seen this before I bought another ESC for my 1700mm P51. I had the same problem ........everything worked but no motor........hmm glad I didn't throw away that ESC because it is probably OK. Thanks for sharing this Skip.

    This worked for me, sort of. It got the motor running, but when I turned on the throttle kill, even with the throttle off, it made the motor start! Clearly something more fundamental was at the root of this problem. Turned out, for me, it was ESC calibration, a simple and easy procedure explained in other TH-cam videos.

    Hey Skip - I'm so lucky I came across your video. Before you got your motor running in the video the sound the ESC made when you connected the battery exactly matched the sound my ParkZone Sport Cub S2 was making. So I copied what you did with the throttle trim and it worked a treat. Thanks a lot! As Holden fan said - You're a bloody legend mate!!

    Hello Skip, I spent about 4 hours trying to work out why my ESC refused to arm. I tried your advice not expecting it to work but i was wrong, it solved the problem. I'm not sure what's going on but to make it run properly I've had to reduce the Throttle Travel to minus 105 instead of the normal minus 100. It's either this or setting the Throttle Trim 2 or 3 clicks down. Either way I'd never have found the problem without your help. Really happy, Phil, England UK.

    I hope I don’t misinform anyone, but I believe Betaflight has a min_check value that the throttle must be below in order to arm; for safety. You can calibrate your sticks to ensure it goes below that value, set the min_check a litter higher, or do the temporary trim thing. I hadn’t thought of the trim thing. Thanks.

    Sometimes when i try to connect to my plane especially after a gap of a day or so, my esc keeps on beeping continuously for 10 20 seconds and then arms the motor, after that it arms the motor normally (in 3 beeps only) ,why it takes so long sometimes? and the prop would do weird half rotations and vibrations too...

    I know im pretty late, the throttle for our rc plane works although when we accelerate the power slowly decreases and when the motor has stopped, the controller resets and asks for commands. Any fix on this?

    • @SkipBuiltRC
      @SkipBuiltRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not Sure on that one. I would try a reset. In program mode, wait till you hear the 4th set of sounds, and drop the throttle. Unplug all and retry. IESC should be reset. Then just calibrate your controller. Program mode and 1st sounds drop to zero throttle. Hope this helps, Skip

  • @idiots830

    After connecting 2 motors to 2 ESCs, without knowing to remove the red wire on one side of the BEC, I connected them together to the servo controller of 1 and tested the operation for about 30 minutes?? So, only one motor worked, the other motors operated randomly, and in the end, the ESC on the motor side, which was working well, was damaged and did not work at all. When I went to TH-cam, I saw a video about removing one BEC. I removed the ESCs one by one, reset them, and tested them. Of the two ESCs, only the motor side, which had been malfunctioning uncontrollably, works. When I turn on the power, the motor makes the same beeping sound that it made before starting, but even when I move the throttle, it works. The motor doesn't move at all. Is there no way to save it??

    @bradfordtownsend9698 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you, When do you know trim is neutral?

    • @SkipBuiltRC
      @SkipBuiltRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That all depends on the manufacturer's recommendations sometimes they like the elevator up a little bit sometimes they like it down. Sometimes you've got full flying stabs and you have to have the elevator set at a precise angle for neutral and you have to go to the manufacturer's recommendations for that. But in general just a regular normal stabilizer with a elevator on it or a wing the control part of the flap should be even with the wing surface top and bottom. Especially on bottom cuz that's where it glides on if the top is off just a little bit because of thicknesses of foam being a little bit different make sure the bottom is at least even you'll have a neutral position on that. I hope this helps, and happy flying. Skip build RC. Please subscribe, would love to have you on my channel as a subscriber. It's free!!

    • @SkipBuiltRC
      @SkipBuiltRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If its just beeping, somehow it may have gotten into esc programming mode. Not sure on that product. I take it you tried turning the throttle trim all the way down 1st. If that doesn't do it make sure all batteries are charged, including Transmitter, so often overlooked as a source of problems. Good luck buddy, Skip

    Trying to get back into flying RC after quite a few years. Am a complete noob regarding electric flight. I screwed up my ESC on a new plane - have never been able to arm the ESC. Now I get one beep followed by three beeps, and that's it. I am using a 3S battery. How the heck can I get the ESC to go back to default. No one had told me about using throttle to initialize the ESC. Futaba radio in a Turbo Timber.

      Plug in battery with radio on and throttle set up to max. Wait for the esc to start series of beeps. When it gets to 4 beeps, after 4th beep drop throttle back to off position. This should reset the esc back to factory settings. Hope this helps, Skip

      @@SkipBuiltRC I figured out what the problem was. The ESC on my Turbo Timber had some extra wiring, apparently for the lights. One of the leads was labeled "Receiver, 5.0 v." I plugged that into CH3 slot on receiver. I noticed in a photo of that ESC on a website that it didn't even have that wire. So I yanked that wire out of CH3 slot and plugged in the braided wire. I was then able to arm the ESC and the motor turns now, and in the right direction.

      @@SkipBuiltRC Oh, and thanks for the advice. Once I had the wiring right, I used your advice and got the ESC armed immediately. Getting back into RC flying, I am also trying to figure out a new radio...

      When you trim down throttle for the fix, remember to set trim back to neutral position

  • @sipplix
    @sipplix 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    All ESC's should have a throttle calibration done when you first turn them on. Put your throttle to full, turn on the radio, then plug in the ESC, after it beeps 3 times for 3s battery and 4 times for 4s battery, there will be one beep, drop the throttle stick to bottom position, that's it, power cycle the transmitter and ESC and your done, the ESC will know the correct throttle range for your transmitter now. You probably know this skip, but just in case.🤓😳👍

    • @sipplix
      @sipplix 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually turn your radio on first then put throttle to full.

    • @SkipBuiltRC
      @SkipBuiltRC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep, but on a few escs on 3 of my planes this step sets the throttle (low)throttle setting. Then do the high trhottle calibration. Don't know why this happens on some but it works.

      i have a problem. I upgraded from CC3d setup to APM 2.8 recently. So the wireing and ESC + other parts should working fine. But when i try to do esc calibrating (both single and all in one methods) my ESC s keep beeping. how to fix this?

    • @SkipBuiltRC
      @SkipBuiltRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that, it is worked for most. You might want to try recalibrating the ESC with the throttle trimmed up a little. And then try firing up the ESC and trimming the throttle down giving you more range? Just an afterthought, but it might work. Good luck and hope it helps. PS thanks for watching and thanks for your comment, I hope I can help. Skip

    I tried with my supercub and it did not work but I think it is because my remote does not have an electric trim

    • @SkipBuiltRC
      @SkipBuiltRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do not have electronic trimming, then just try a standard recalibration only run the throttle almost all the way back down after you hear the beep on the ESC. That should service the same idea of electronically trimming it down then just plug it back up and work it as normal and see if it resets and arms on it's own

    • @SkipBuiltRC

      Esc. Needs to be recalibrated for throttle.
      There is a proper procedure for that. Very standard thing.

      Skip-Built, RC. I’m quite new to rc so I don’t really know how to do that

    • @SkipBuiltRC
      @SkipBuiltRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GIGATHEBOT there are a ton of videos out there that will show that process. Horizon Hobby has a video on just that. Just go on TH-cam and type and ESC / throttle calibration, and you should be able to get a choice of a bunch of them. Your problem seems to be that when it was first initialise the throttle was in a full accelerated position and then brought down. Proper procedure is turn the radio on and bind the aircraft. Now unplug the plane. With the radio on Advance the throttle all the way wide open. Now plug the plane back in. As soon as you hear a series of beeps do not wait too long I mean as soon as you hear them bring the throttle back down to fall off position unplug the plane turn the radio off and you're done. This should do it for you. But like I said if you want video as well there's plenty of them might even be one on my channel somewhere. I don't recall if I did that one or not as there were already so many. Good luck and happy flying my friend. You found yourself a good sport to make you happy the rest of your days. Also I think it might have been already calibrated because everything worked when I first hooked in the servos and throttle then the ailerons started to move a little on its own the moter turned on and it got dead
