    A few years ago, I grew small rooted coleus in a sunny south window in North Dakota. It grew beautifully from Mid August until I left at the end of May. It was about 20 in tall and tall and at least 16 “ in diameter in that time. I gave it to an cousin. Don’t know how he did with it. Definitely did fertilize it.

    Thank you for mentioning the toxicity to cats and dogs. I have one of each and I have watched several videos so far to try my hand at propagating some beautiful plants I got this year and not one of those other videos mentioned it.

    Yep. I bring my coleus indoors late fall. I also profligate when they get leggy. Thank you for your channel. PS...mine never have lost leaves when I bring them in. I put them in a sunny spot, water when soil is dry. They thrive indoors! The bug thing is annoying

      @@notme2day yep. My coleus are at the sunniest part of the house so I'm sure the moths are attracted to the light. They lite on the plants like sunbathers on the beach.

    My dear, you are quite right about the three ways of overwintering, but I must say that I am surprised at how ratty your plants look! I started mine in the spring, repotting them several times before setting them out and they have grown into splendid, bushy specimens, still going strong on 9 sepember. Of course I will take cuttings also, but plants grown from seed seem to be much more vigurous in the garden.

    Will a cutting/rooting last all the way through winter? The rootball must be like a football! So from say October to May it will last in water? 8 months ???

    • @ThePhobosAnomally
      @ThePhobosAnomally ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A cutting will make new roots in a matter of days (up to a week). These root very easily and then they will be self sustainable. You can keep it in a water, but I normally just put them straigth to a pot with soil and give it a drink and it will develop roots and you will have an established plant inside through the winter and then you just plant it in a planet when the spring comes.

    • @vairavike-freiberga1728
      @vairavike-freiberga1728 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to take repeated cuttings throughout the winter, for they do get leggy for want of light. Fortunately, they root incredibly fast in water, so you have to pot them up in substrate before their roots grow too long. If they do, just cut them shorter and they still survive.

      seriously. your take away from this video that justifies a comment by you is the way she pronounces it? You could maybe enlighten us with your own experiences with this plant or share an opinion with a comment rather than that remark. Do you think she would make an apologetic video directed at you saying how she was wrong in her pronunciation of the word “coleus” after reading that comment? What do you hope to gain from an arrogant comment such as yours? Do you appreciate all the knowledge she freely shares with you in this video? Do better…
