Shawn's take on this is heartbreakingly beautiful. Never would have thought to do this with this Beatles classic but I love it although it makes me want to cry. Never put off something that is in your heart to do.
Long Story , Woke up to this and she Changed my life forever , Met her in MPLS .Still can't believe Beautiful . Caring & gracious . Don't forget Talented. Thank You Shawn . Your Friend who failed to show up at the Museum When you gave away your Martin
Again Shawn takes me somewhere magical.. Never will I forget the first time I heard her perform this at Yoshi's in San Francisco, Ca. One of my all time favorite singer, song writer's.
Saw her at 'The Basement' Sydney, Australia, last month. When she performed this song you could hear a pin drop. She delivers music to you in a way that is nothing short of captivating. Hope she comes back here soon!!xx
Wow, reminds me why covers are an interesting thing to look into. Added so much new life & energy to the song while artistically subtracting while keeping the melodic core of the song in tact. So many covers of songs get things wrong by not adding anything new worth while or worst, taking the best most important melodic parts out making the song needlessly bland & unlikable. This however was beautifully haunting & soothing.
I had the great pleasure of seeing Ms. Colvin perform at The Ark in Ann Arbor last week. She sang this in her encore set. She was amazing. Such a great performer.
She turns this into a very sad, mournful ballad. The original is much more jaunty, despite the lyrics. I put both in my Colvin playlist. Thanks for uploading!
One of the Beatles' most moving songs, treated accordingly. Nice work.

This is one of the best interpretations on the planet, of this song. Just remarkably sensitive!

This is the only cover of a Beatles song that I have ever liked. Brilliant!!
You might check out the cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, by Regina Spektor...

Amazing cover. She's made this Beatles classic into her own.

So sweet. Full of emotion.
This is spectacular. Thanks for posting.
Love you so much Shawn! Peace
I found this because I just read her essay on the song in a new anthology: In Their Lives: Great Writers on Great Beatles Songs. A great read!
This is a great cover!
A great cover. Rarely can an artist take a Lennon-McCartney song and cover it better than the original. IMO she does that with this song.
I noticed on none of the cover versions
did anyone say "better than the original"
and rightfully so
Thank you!! 🥴
I like it but it's too slow and overwrought like this....
Beatles did it best
Thank you!!!
Just so beautiful.
