And you know what for just $280 you can actually have the exact same replica that's 99% identical -but with even better upgrades: Polyurethane paint - cant be easily scratched or ding'ed. (the only downside is it will look new forever, so say goodbye to the smashed dragged off the road "Greeny relic" or "vintage" look. and the neck tilt design flaw is already elimated thus the Guitar always stays in tune especially the G-String. The "overpriced" don't. Plus it got the iconic logo. Haha. Why bust your bank on a not so good quality overpriced product when you can have a replica for a fraction of the price.😂
Man it's so funny I have your playlist muted running on a different screen to support your channel and every time I come back to the screen I see you screaming at your cameras 🤣
Ok, registered contrarian here. I don't think Gibson feels threatened by 9 guitars a year, they feel threatened because if they let this go, then someone else who can build thousands a year will say "well, you let him do it, so you've lost protected status and now we can do it. Gibson could let it go if the maker was so quiet that Gibson could claim ignorance of his existence, but with such high-profile users, they can't say they didn't notice.
I was thinking that too, but does this mean they're going to go after Jackson, BC Rich, Dean and every other company that has been building that shape guitar for years
Nothing contrary about stating a fact. If you don't defend your design, you lose the rights to it. The amount of people here that don't comprehend that simple aspect is astonishing. Take a look at Heritage for example. They own the rights to the Les Paul/335/330 designs, because Gibson waited too long to act. Dean, Maybach, Patrick Eggle, Eastman etc all now make near identical instruments. I'm not happy with them trying to monopolize the guitar world, but also understand why they are doing it.
@@The9thChord they don't have any rights to the flying V design. It was a patent, not a trademark. Patents run out... Hence why the people that can afford the court case can give the finger to Gibson and build a Les Paul if they want (Dean) or a V (Fender/Jackson)... Gibson doesn't own the rights to any of their guitars... it's called frivolous litigation... and it works when you have deeper pockets.
@vintageswiss9096 Gibson has Ted Mccarty schematics dating back to the 50s. It's not simply a case of right to design, but one of intellectual property.

I'm a guitar maker in Tokyo and know a lot of other builders, some of whom have also had C&D letters from Gibson. Within the luthier community, it's hard to find someone who has anything good to say about Gibson - either in terms of the way their company operates, or in terms of the instruments they produce. They represent the worst aspects of corporate greed in the way they launch baseless legal claims off like drunk artillerymen while lowering quality and raising prices on their own stuff. I wouldn't say they make garbage, but most companies do a significantly better job for less money. An Eastman SB59 is way, way better than a Les Paul, for example, and cheaper as well. Good for you for making this video and good on Vicious Guitars from making such a killer instrument!!!
Big corporations abuse copyrights. Copyright used to be in place to help people to be creative, and not have every Tom, Dick, and Harry copy you and claim it's their creation. This maker isn't claiming the Flying V is his idea. If anything, it should be considered a derivatives work. Heck you can't even make a parody of a big work on You tube without getting copyright claimed, when parody is protected under copyright laws. There's one about woman's suffrage that's a parody of the song "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga. Her record producer forced them to take it down. Edit to add: OMG love the new design inspired off the B2 stealth bomber! Personally I think a guitar inspired off of a military aircraft is more metal than a guitar inspired off of a letter of the alphabet.
Came for the Gibson dunking, stayed for everything else. I know this comment isn't directly related to the guitar shown, but that guitar sound that you used in the B-roll is absolutely phenomenal. Can you make a video demonstrating just that? I rewound it back to the ten minute mark just to listen to it again. Fucking deadly!

BTW - That's Stealth shaped guitar is just sick- too beautiful. You're so lucky Glenn, you have an awesome Custom guitar maker in Goran.🤘 Vicious Guitars FTW!🔥
It's obvious that it's not a Gibson, neck thru and the head stock not snapped off is a good indication.
this is why im happy jericho guitars are still going
My most recent guitar came from a small builder that I met at a trade show. Thing plays like a beast, and I'm working on retracking a death metal demo with it.
Gibson thought they were gonna hurt hurt him, they actually helped him. His guitars 100000000000000000000 times play, look, and sound better than any Gibson
He should name it the Vicious Authenticity.
Wow. I don't know the first thing about guitars (piano and keyboards here), but I know craftsmanship when I see it. These are gorgeous! And he deserves every little bit of the endorsement you give him, although now they may get far more requests than they can handle.
If Gibson spent less time suing they could save on lawyer fees and charge less for their products thus people being able to buying more of their guitars instead of seeking similar items
I received a "Cease and Desist" from a large fishing company when I used to make and sell lures out of my garage. They had trademarked how two small pieces connected; apparently, someone bought one of mine and notified them that I was violating this trademark. Gotta love big corporations. Glad to see he didn't stop making guitars.
I would name the new model the “endetta” you know since he can’t use the letter V. So lean into it with a Vendetta. Lololol
😂
Going broke before your case is even heard by a judge; no truer words were ever spoken… ive been in a trust dispute with a family member for nearly 3 years. It’s cost me 40k so far, and i might see a judge right before Christmas. And i have guarantee the ruling will favor me!! If i had known then, what i know now? I dont know if I’d have done this. It’s extremely stressful, and the only ones who profit are the lawyers.
We have a local builder who makes Nepco Guitars (Des Moines, IA) and their schtick is, "What if Danelectro made a V." So they're V's in that style. Gibson also sent him the cease
Quick fix for Gibson: buy a Chibson instead.
Absolutely great fix!👌 I actually did that for the sake of comparing it to the $7,000 Murphy lab.
I'm not a guitar player myself, but that guitar IS pretty sweet. I like the looks of the headstock, too.
He's Canadian right? Call it flyin' A
It looks like an A shape. Dunno what the problem would be
Man it's so funny I have your playlist muted running on a different screen to support your channel and every time I come back to the screen I see you screaming at your cameras 🤣
Whats the name of the song Glenn plays at 13:30?
Nice Video as always btw :)
Wanting to know, too
Oh man, that is so much cooler than a "standard" V!! Dream guitar🤘🎸🤘
It's not simply a case of right to design, but one of intellectual property.
interesting, a kick drum mic on guitar.... that makes a lot of sense. Checked out the specs on that mic, totally makes sense. Has me eyeing my Audix mics now with a different slant. Thanks Glen!
Thanks to Gibson for being legal douches so this guy would be inspired to make something even better! It really looks very art deco - totally cool! 🤘🏻🎸😎
Love the new shape, a breath of fresh air into the the 1/2 W shape ;)
🖤
Late stage capitalism turning into corporate feudalism.
One and the same.
Fuck yes!
You got me with your email on this one. I legit was worrying slightly that Glenn was upset I was infringing on his copyright or something, lol
Was that Rob Flynn with a Vicious V ?
I'm a stoopid bass playerTM and cant do much with 6 String* and I approve this message!!
“feels great”! 💯 That’s a true sigma right there! That’s how winning is done! 👍🏼❤️
Dude. I’m a long time fan. And I’m really digging this “format”. So interesting to watch / listen to your big voice mjw-ing (music-justice-warrior-ing). There was always a tinge in your uploafs about this. IE, calling out non-committal, non-artists in our own lives. What you’ve shortcuted as bassists. But, we all know is actually calling out our inner willingness to procrastinate. Seemingly, in mine eyes, this has maybe served as pre-pro to what might be your ultimate, eventual populous format:
Loud Vs Crowd
Voice Vs Noise
Voice Vs Voids
…something like that
Edit: Would love to watch you read, in the funny voice, injustices bestowed upon regular musician folk’l by the Gibsons and Fenders and SSLs and ad-infinitum - watching you go active-agro on them.
I understand, it may be counter to your non disclosures. But, a man, a musician, an artist, can ream, uhm, dream
I'm getting one of those "cease/desist" toggle switch plates for my bucket-head kill switch (grounds the output). the "Les Paul / More Paul" ones are hilarious too.
I can watch this episode again with a brand snob because no chipmonk voice and I love this fellow luthier .
NGL: the art deco/dieselpunk aesthetic of that shape kinda looks even cooler than the traditional flying V. As long as Vicious don't get a cease-and-desist from Northrop now...
Dam Glenn that’s great playing in my opinion for sure on a Freaking Awesome Guitar .
KDH just published a video on this whole thing. Would love your take on it
