- Not one of my better reviews. I don’t know why this was so difficult for me to get through but it is what it is, I guess.

Great review! I very much enjoyed the book.
Excellent review! My favorite part is when John Thornton, inspired by the example of the Yeehat people, chooses to join Buck in heeding the call of a life spent wandering the Alaskan wilds. Such a heartwarming tale of enduring friendship. 😉
@@BryanM.R.-prionic1 Thank you. It was a powerful read. A very pleasant surprise given what I thought it was actually about.
I remember being really surprised by this book as well. I expected a kind of Disney film kid’s story. It was certainly not that! It’s a great book. Excellent review.
@@michaelk.vaughan8617 Thank you. Yes, I, too, expected a Disney-esque type of story but I’m glad it turned out to be so much more mature and emotionally powerful than initially expected.
Ah, thanks for this, I adore Jack London, a really radical left-of-centre thinker & natural story-teller, such an iconoclast.
@@apoetreadstowrite I agree. This was a powerful read and I will get to White Fang at some point, it’s in the same book.
@@Travsbookshelf: Yes, they are both great fun - happy reading.
@ Thank you
Great review! I really liked this classic book. Very readable.
@@NicolesBookishNook Thank you! I loved the emotional power of it.
Glad you liked it Trav. It was a great story! Glad I reread it last year!
@@kevintowle9665 Thanks. It was a powerful read.
Great review.
@@theaelizabet Thank you.
Thanks for this video, Trav. I need to add Call of the Wild to my TBR. I had it in my classroom library when I taught, but I'm ashamed to say I haven't read any of London's stuff. I need to remedy that.
@@TedReadInstead I wish I had read this a long time ago but certainly glad I finally did. It is so well worth the time.
I remember reading this a long time ago. I feel I need to reread it again to see if it hits differently as an adult. Thanks man
@@Already-Overbooked Thanks
My 7th grade teacher read this book to us, but I don’t remember much from it. I really need to give it a read now as an adult. Funny btw I’m actually in the middle of Cujo but it’s hard for me to read sometimes because I feel so bad for Cujo when it’s from his perspective. Great review as always man!
Thanks. When I read Cujo last year I remember thinking the same thing as he is actually the most innocent character so what he went through was tragic which also made the situation more terrifying because of that. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
In the first 90 seconds, you corrected me on the same thoughts I had about the book. I read Thor last yesr and really enjoy reading through the eyes of an animal. I picked up Jaws, too, but haven't read it yet. I'll keep this one in mind if I get into the mood but the animal abuse makes me want to go all John Wick on someone.
@@someothercharacter Thanks, man. I agree about applying John Wick against the animal abuse. Speaking of, it makes me wish I knew Wick when I read Jaws. The characters in that book were….lets just say I could’ve gone John Wick on those people! Seriously I was rooting for the shark the rest of the way through that book after about the third chapter. The shark scenes were by far the highlights of that book for me.
I read this a few months back and was surprised by this book as well.
@@dustinneely I’m glad it turned out not to be what I initially thought it would be. Made it a bit of a better read partly on that account.
@Travsbookshelf way more explicit violence than I expected from a kids book.
