If a woman said to you, I love you, I love you, I love you, like never before, you'd be a fool not to take her as your wife. Thank you Christine for the love.
Played this at my wife's funeral last year, she was only 45 we were together for 3 decades. First and only song that came to my mind when I had to decide!
I used to know Chris when she was in Chicken Shack and I was playing in another band in the Black Country (UK.) We shared an old Ford Transit to a gig once. She was the sweetest, nicest person you could ever wish to meet.
There was just something different about Christine. She seemed to always exude class and beauty in her performance and presence. She will be sorely missed.
A lovely tribute. You may or may not know that Christine's father, Cyril, was a music teacher here in Birmingham UK. We were briefly taught by him back in '73/'74. He was incredibly proud of Christine. She had a beautiful voice and will be sadly missed
Her Grandfather was an organist at Westminster abbey and along with being a music lecturer, her father was a violinist so music was part of her life from the start.
You do you know that was her name before she married John......Christine Perfect who actually shows up of the last Lp featuring the great Peter Green. She's featured on keyboard on "Oh Well Part 2"
This teared me up. I was born in 71' and she's one of the 1st voices I was ever conscious of. I remember laying in bed at night as a little kid listening to this from my parents having it cranked up on the house stereo in the livingroom. RIP Christine, you were great.
Your telling my story brother!! 71 here too with parents and other family wearing out the Rumors album. Definitely some of the first music I was aware of.
I think we may have grown up in the same house! I too was born in January of 71. Fleetwood Mac was an absolute staple in our house. I learned to operate my dad's turntable as a first grader! I would play Fleetwood Mac on my own .... as a 7 year old! Christine is my favorite!
Soft, smokey and seductive. Her voice was like your morning coffee. A warm blanket on a cold night. A soft kiss from your loved one. Watching a gentle snowfall from your porch, drinking hot chocolate. Her talent goes beyond her voice, beyond her keyboard playing. I always thought of her as the quiet one, playing on the side of the stage while the others, with their drama and strong presence, diverting the audience's attention to them. She will be greatly missed. I'm sure she is resting and singing in peace to an audience as gentle as her. ❤
She was a magnificent talent - a calm center in a band that was constantly in some form of turmoil; she grounded them and she helped bring out the best in her bandmates. She will be missed but her music will outlive us all.
Really this is the best pop rock album in history and arguably the only band in history with 3 consistent hit makers. And yes, that includes the Beatles. One could make the case that Christine's 3rd fiddle to Stevie and Lindsey is more impactful to the discography of the Fleetwood than George was to the Beatles, at least from a hit standpoint
I totally agree- F Mac's "Rumors" has become one of my all time favorited records- a Desert Island album for sure! I cry every time I hear song bird, it is just that moving of a song and vocal performance- Christine is so dearly missed
Christine tells the story of writing Songbird, how it came to her at 3am one morning and in half an hour she had the whole song, chords and all. She fortunately had a piano in her room and ended up playing it all night so as not to forget it until she could get into the studio later that morning!! Extraordinary person and what a beautiful song. Again Rick, I love your completely infectious enthusiasm!!
One of THE unique voices in pop/rock. You always knew immediately who was singing when she opened her mouth. To have THREE iconic voices in the same band is very rare.
It takes a very special woman to allow another woman to come in and be front and center. Not only did Christine embrace Stevie Nicks, she was the guiding light for the whole band. It always amazes me how incredible their voices were together, and also how they each seemed to let the other shine. Fleetwood Mac was a soap opera, for sure, but the love for each other always came through. What a legacy to one of the best bands ever.
Christine joined CF leetwood Mac in 1970 and was married to the basist John Mcvie. The band was at a studio in Los Angeles and the person who ran the studio was letting Mick Fleetwood hear some songs recorded at his studio so he could hear the sound quality and it turned out that what he let Mick hear Lyndsey and Stevie they were a singing/songwriting duo at the time.Mick asked how he could get in touch with them because he wanted Lindsey and Stevie in Fleetwood Mac.I think he wanted Lindsey mainly, but they were a couple he and Stevie so Lindsey would only join if Stevie could join also and the rest is rock history.
@@brittscott4673 What a great loss it would have been in Lindsey agreed to join without Stevie. Just imagine all the wonderful music we would not have got as a result.
Christine's songwriting can't be overstated. She wrote half of the top ten hits from Rumours with Stevie and Lyndsey pitching in the other two. Her voice, keyboard work and melodic choices are everlasting. RIP Christine. You will always be a part of the upbeat music of my childhood.
I am obsessed with 'You Make Lovin Fun'. It rarely gets mentioned, her swagger in singing the verse, and the insanely beautiful chorus, plus the performance of all the band. RIP ❤
Fabulous song which , as a guitarist, I regularly play and one of my favourite Mac songs. Apart from Christine McVie's top class writing and performance, one of many examples of Buckingham's brilliant accompaniment.
I saw Christine with Chicken Shack at the Bluesville 68 club in Bradford in 1969, and again at the Nelson Imperial in the post Peter Green, pre Buckingham Nicks Fleetwood Mac. What a talent!
Tears are streaming down my face. I'm 37, I was 19 when my mother died. My mother was born in 1951, went to Woodstock in 1969, marched with Dr. King, even traveled in a hippie bus from Carolina to San Francisco... She was a true gypsy soul, wild and free, yet on some level ironically desperate for stability and roots... But love defined her. Love for every woman and man. She taught me everything I know about acceptance and loyalty to a fault. She had so much pain in her life, from its very beginnings all the way through to the end. My fate has followed in those footsteps unfortunately. Fortunately, I have the teachings of having seen it played out before my eyes to learn from, my fate not yet so soon to be written. Somehow, I've mever heard this song until it came on a radio station just a bit ago. It touched me, I had to come to google to see what was the story behind the lyrics. Your video came up, and I am struck by all the comments similar to mine, talking about personal stories of love and loss, joy and pain. So I decided to share mine as well... May we all be blessed to know in our hearts, the peace to be found in the ultimate nature of life and love 💙
She was so good at modulation of her voice. Like bending strings on guitar but with her vocal cords. She truly used her voice as a beautiful instrument. Wouldn’t get that finesse and harmonics with auto-tuning today.
The earthiest, most chill member of Fleetwood Mac. Stevie Nicks called her the Earth Mother of the group, a very fitting description. This really hurts; I've been a huge Fleetwood Mac fan for 40 years. RIP Christine.
I Love Christine McVie, I Miss her So Much. I’ve seen her in concert for decades. I’m glad my 21 year old son had the privilege to see her with me with Lindsey in 2017 then in 2018 with Fleetwood Mac. Thank You So Much for this on TH-cam ❤❤❤❤❤❤
No autotune, no electronic beats, complex melody, simple piano accompaniment, Christine's evocative voice... "Songbird" is such a lovely piece of musical genius. Everything else she did in Fleetwood Mack always stands out. The soundtrack of my adolescence, nothing today compares or comes close. Today's music has become disposable; most will be forgotten in a decade from now, as the industry churns out more and more meaningless "hits". Fleetwood Mac and Christine McVie will live on. RIP to Fleetwood Mac's Songbird.
We're not very far away from hearing music that has no actual human beings performing on it. It will all be electronically arranged by artificial intelligence using music sampled from real music sources (including vocalists) as it's working reference base, and manipulated to target specific audiences in specific ways. High-end computer code writers and programmers are working on it now. It might be 10 years at most from reaching the point that most people won't even know it's not humans playing music.
@claypots47 I think you'd really like Weyes Blood's last two records if you're looking for modern tunes with the timelessness you feel you're missing from music today. A great recent artist using the aesthetics of the singer-songwriterd of the 70's to craft thoughtful commentary on the modern world.
Strange how we miss people when they're gone, but during their lifetime they do't get as much recognition as they deserve compare to others who are more dramatic. Christine did have such a pleasant coolness to her. What a fine example for us all.
Yes, true about the retrospective appreciation thing - but actually Christine was pretty well-recognised and highly-regarded throughout her career - which is why we all feel painfully her loss! Great, as usual, for Rick to share his thoughts!
The passing of a rock star is always a saddening shock, but I don't often mourn them. However, Christine McVie was quite the exception. The image of this lovely woman at the piano singing her beautiful "Songbird" will stay with me always, and I don't think I can hear it again without shedding a tear.
Yes. I feel the same way. I never understood people being upset when a famous person died since they didn't know them. I understand now I keep listening to Oh Daddy & Brown Eyes
Brady, the reason she is mourned as someone special to you is because she was able to touch your heart. I don't think I'll be able to sing and play Songbird again for a very long time. You can't sing and cry at the same time. Its funny a lot of times when you are playing a gig - people aren't always too attentive. But when I would sit down at the keyboard to play this song - it was silence. Merry Christmas - may your heart be filled with joy, and you and your family have every happiness.
in 1984 I drove about 2000 miles and I listened to this album over and over and over again. I never tired of it. It always drew me in for one more time.
I was in love with her as a kid, and I’ve always vastly preferred her voice to Stevie’s. What an amazingly talented lady. She’ll be missed greatly! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Her voice was sooo warm , l group her with Marilyn MaCoo for just absolute, natural pitch and tambre . Unbelievable talent to this day. !!! Rest peacefully Ms.McVie , hopfully now you can see the ocean of appre iation for your contributions.
Incredible Record, beautiful talent. Thank you for the recognition of her passing, this loss was overlooked seemingly for the most part. My local Radio Station said, "Christine Mcvie of Fleetwood Mac has died, She was 79." That was the whole story. That's just shameful.
I think in many ways she defined the Fleetwood Mac sound perhaps more than any other member. Her voice and her songwriting were so smooth and elegant. RIP Christine McVie, and thank you for sharing your talents with the world.
Nice tribute Rick. She will be missed. She was an incredibly talented, beautiful musician, the backbone of Fleetwood Mac. Her music will live on forever. R.I.P Christine our Songbird 🌹
I have been listening to Fleetwood Mac for 45 years (since I was about 8 or 9) and I never tire of their songs. Learning that Christine had passed was a gut punch - like losing an old friend. Her magnificent songs and sweet melancholy voice will ring out for all eternity. RIP to a legend.
Pal well said I am the same, I just did not want to know this person was missing. In my files on computer I have always had one dedicated To Fleetwood Mac and knowing these are the first of many entries to come, hopefully not for many years yet, the emptiness of Christine being gone is just a real tragedy. So talented, so cool, and the epitome of English class, what is also forgotten is that in her prime Christine could go toe-to-toe with any woman in the world for beauty. Just watch videos of Mirage or Tango In The Night. But like Peter Green Christine served the band and fans, not any personal ego, and that is why we will always love and adore such a gorgeous, selfless, kind woman, Christine in the year of my Father's passing I have been in tears since yours
I’m 44 and have loved Fleetwood Mac since I first heard everywhere on my uncles copy of tango in the night when cds were new. 3 of the best songwriters in rock history, each totally unique married to the best rhythm section in all of rock. Johnny is a monster! I have listened to all the classic lineup FM albums dozens and dozens of times by now and never tire of them. They’re always interesting and fresh. They’ve been the soundtrack to my life in so many ways.
@RobertSchofield Thinking of you and the loss of your dad. I too lost both my parents in 2022. Expected. Held it together for months, listening to Christine's music to get me thru. Losing her totally unexpectedly, 10 days after my mom's first 'gone' bday, was like a punch to the heart. I sobbed! Never saw it or my reaction coming. Deep grief. Hope u r holding strong.
I have nothing to add to these comments than to say that I loved her. I broke down when I heard of her passing. Seemed like a milestone of my own life. She was so special.
Likewise. Especially tough coming pretty close on the heels of Greeny's departure. Rareified company indeed. I call myself lucky to have shared an era with them.
Yeah man my face was flooded hard like it hadn't been since I lost my best friend a bunch of years ago she had a warm way about her along with her one of a kind voice that would slowly but surely get hold of you and there's just nothing you can do or would want to do but surrender. She was beautiful in every way and I adored her to no end.
My favourite song by Christine is "Say You Love Me". The melody, lyrics, bassline, harmonies in the chorus, the tempo, all of it is just so beautiful! R.I.P Christine!!🙏 You're immortal just like so many other artists who are not with us anymore.
I met Christine face to face once. at her home! i was knocking on doors of recently sold homes in the course of my real estate appraising to get more information and knocked on her door and wow, she was right there "hello!" and a total perfect lady. I was blown away. right there in front of me. i asked her my questions and she gave me all the info I needed for my job. it was the most surrealist moment in my real estate background.
Christine was the heart and soul of Fleetwood Mac to me. A lot of my favorite Mac songs are Christine compositions. She was the one who kept the band together and tight-knit during troubling times. She just had such a gift for creating unforgettable melodies. It’s such a shame that we lost her. We’re losing and we’ve lost a lot of my favorite musicians. Christine, Alan White, Neil Peart, etc. These past couple of years have sucked for the music community.
I am surely not the only one in tears while watching this. There was always something very disarming and engaging about Christine McVie, her songwriting, singing and playing. Though her songs and singing were her calling card, she was actually a very accomplished if understated player. And she had studied art. There was more to her than many fans likely realise. But now she is gone. And oh how we miss her already....
I was lucky enough to see Fleetwood Mac live at Wembley Stadium a while back. The highlight was Christine McVie coming out on her own during the encore to play Songbird. Truly delightful. She will be greatly missed...
Everywhere was my introduction to Fleetwood Mac back in 87. I was 5. Loved it ever since. Her songwriting and voice, and the simply elegant muted guitar licks have stuck with me ever since. Great band, great songwriter... GREAT LOSS
As a kid, all of Christine’s songs imprinted on me. In college I discovered Stevie and Lindsey. But Christine’s songs meant everything to my childhood nostalgia. God bless her for her contributions to make art out of the insanity.
It’s amazing how some artists just hit you straight in the chest. It’s not about range and technique, it’s about connection. You know the ones that have it because you feel it and you can’t always explain why you feel it but you do and it’s magic 🙏
Christine McVie.... The BEST voice in that band and the only one of the group that seemed to have her head screwed on straight.... R.I.P. Our beautiful Songbird and thank you for the amazing music you left with us.
ALWAYS loved her Fleetwood Mac songs best, her voice was enchanting, her harmonies with Stevie Nicks were beyond heavenly. RIP songbird, go play it again everyone
You make me loving fun Gotta a hold on me Think about me 等の軽快なナンバーが特にお気に入りでした。本当に残念です。
Man, I'm not normally one for sentimentality over someone I've never met, but this one hit me. I think above all with Rumours, it was just so raw, human, and authentic. They exposed it all, all of the anger, sadness, vulnerability, and hope. It's relatable to anyone who's experienced any kind of breakup whether you're 15 or 60. And that's before you even get into the musicianship of the album. Just unreal. RIP Christine.
RIP Christine - an immensely talented musician and writer - and brought up in my neck of the woods (West Midlands, UK - Birmingham to be exact)……..another one of the good ones gone!
The chorus of 'You Make Loving Fun" soars upwards, effortless, like an eagle rising on a thermal. Christine always gave the impression of modesty, but with it came the certainty that every note that she played or sang, was in exactly the right place and that I would fall for her over and over again. Magic, musical alchemy. Don't break the spell.
That song is an understated tranquil gem on an album containing a number of more energetic tunes. It’s so pure and simple, so heartfelt and languid. Lovely. 😢
In the last week I’ve been incredibly depressed with her passing, but her music raises my spirits. It’s amazing how a deceased person can still have the ability to fill a room with light and vitality, but that’s what the legacy of her songs will be. And what. a. life she lived. The bullpen feels empty now, and this world feels all the lesser for her passing.
Like many brilliant musicians they are content to sit back from the limelight ....Fleetwood Mac were/are brilliant but Chrissie McVie deserves so much more respect for her massive contribution to this mega bands success.
I couldn't agree more. She was the glue! She was an enormous and critical part of Fleetwood Mac's success. She was also the glue to their interpersonal dynamic. She kept the band emotionally and mentally reined in. She was a legendary icon and one of the most brilliant, influential, and relevant musicians and songwriters of 21st century. She was a musical genius!
As I rapidly approach my 60th birthday, I find myself shell shocked with the loss of another musical artist. Like Tom Petty, Neil Peart, & Eddie Van Halen, this one really hurt. Thank you for posting this tribute to a wonderful artist with such a beautiful voice.
I hit 60 just a couple of days ago myself. It really hits home that we are getting old when all of out favourite performers and idols start passing away. I however try to live by the maxim " growing old may be mandatory however growing up is purely optional. I've played guitar on and off most of my life, I won't dignify my meager skills by calling myself a musician, and I still have the long hair, boots and leather jacket. It drives my wife of 33 years nuts. She constantly tells me to grow up and act my age. LMAO.🤘🤘🤘🤘👍👍👍
I'll be 60 in 2024. Losing my musical idols is brutal! I remember how hopeful I felt as a teenager in the late 1970s.I believed I could help make the world a better place. Christine's music and lyrics kept me going. We as a generation are losing too many of our musical icons. It's soul crushing! I wish I could make our losses stop!
Fleetwood Mac is a supergroup, like Queen. Every member is so unique and talented. Multiple singers, multiple composers. Their songs are full of hooks and always some kind of charming sounds.
@@alisonfayers-kerr9089 (post '75) FM have a pretty straight forward country-infused pop songs, more suitable for USA market, but no pop act can match the songwrinting level and consistency of Queen (specially 70s).
@@VictoriaIndyTV Partially agree. Beatles are the most groundbreaking artist of the last 60 years, no doubt. They started a lot younger and were commanded and arranged by George Martin. 80% of their catalog is bluesy stuff (played in an original way though) and have lot of fillers. Geniuses but not that consistent. Anyway I'd put them in the "holly trinity" along with Pink Floyd, as concept album and interpretation no one comes close. Zep were also impressive as a whole.
@@Paulnap Can't forget the Stones for that time either...just plain nasty blues rock. It was quite a time for music...obviously, I mean look, even little kids are still listening to it.
Christine McVie was noticed by me as a crucial part of Mac. Maybe not so many others. Her lovely voice, her harmonies, her funky piano rhythms, her gorgeous E-piano. Crucial, and beautiful.
Her rendition of "Songbird" from Fleetwood Mac's concert "The Dance", recorded live in 1997, is my favourite version. In fact, that whole concert is breathtaking. Highly recommend a watch. RIP Christine.
Those haunting harmonies during the Chorus of You Make Loving Fun ALWAYS give me chills. She was so unique. Yeah, very sad she passed away. What amazing music she wrote.
Rumours will always be my pick for the best album of the last century. Born of malice and stupor, this is music that forced itself out of turmoil on to the page and into the starving ears of my generation. The lyrics are timeless, the hooks intense and the musicianship unparalleled. The sound is distinct and never to be successfully replicated. Christine's crystalline vocals balancing and playing off of Nick's smoky vibrato. Fleetwood captaining the beat along with McVie's groove that plays every note in the scale, leaving Buckingham to fly free and soar, just like the songbird of the title. There will not soon be their like again.
I got a hold of the "Bare Trees" album as a kid. Listening to those songs - including Christine's "Spare Me a Little of Your Love", got me interested in music. On that album and many others, she had her songs as lead, but also blended her voice perfectly into songs Danny Kirwan and Bob Welch wrote. Something she'd continue doing for a long time.
I loved Bare Trees, and Future Games as well. In fact, my favorite Christine McVie song ever is “Show me a smile” from Future Games. Christine’s voice backed by Danny Kirwan’s majestic acoustic and electric lead guitars is breathtaking. Fleetwood Mac fans who have not heard this earlier work don’t realize that Christine McVie and Danny Kirwan were both artistic geniuses, and primary architects of the so-called Fleetwood Mac “California Sound” three years before anyone ever heard of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
It's an absolutely stunning song - one of my favourites. I love that Eva Cassidy recorded 'Songbird' and did such justice to it. RIP Christine McVie and Eva Cassidy - two incredibly talented musicians.
One of the three main songwriters of the great Fleetwood Mac, she was immensely talented and hugely underrated as a songwriter and vocalist - amazing unique voice! Sadly, virtually no one recognizes her as one of the original female rock pioneers. RIP Christine you left us with incredible melodies and memories!
Christine McVie was such an excellent song writer. A realist and romantic, so tender and strong. "The Way I Feel" from the album "Mystery to Me" is another fine example of her talent. Her music and lyrics are a straight shot from a true heart.
I saw Christine sing this 42 years ago in Sydney Australia and had tears in my eyes i watched a Fleetwood Mac Tribute band sing this just the other week here in Penzance Cornwall and again had tears in my eyes....
It's so hard not to tear up listening to Christine's amazing, soulful and beautiful voice without tearing up. I have loved her from the moment I first heard her sing and I always will. RIP Sweet Angel
Everyone talks about Rumours which of course is a great classic album. Maybe I am the only one who actually likes the white Fleetwood Mac album better. From Christine, Warm Ways, Over My Head, and Say that you Love me, and I think she co-wrote I'm So Afraid. Saw FM in 1975 and 1980 two unforgettable concerts. Maybe Stevie and Lindsey were more flashy or out there on the edge, but Christine's songs could just fill us with an inner joy, the joy of love. I truly like every song she wrote, all the way back to the beginning. Yes she will be missed but we have her music to listen to forever.
Long time fan of Christine. I just watched a video of her singing “Songbird”. I’m a 70 year old Grandpa. I found myself crying just at the beauty of her voice and this song. Not many artists get that reaction for me. She was one of the best!
I've recently read that "Songbird" was one of those "dream songs" that came to her in the middle of the night in almost the complete form we hear it now. She said it was the only time that happened, and it was almost a spiritual experience.
I was never a big fan of Stevie Nicks, but I really l loved Christine McVie's voice and her songs. While they certainly hit it big with Rumors, I enjoyed their line ups and songs pre Rumors. Losing Christine McVie is kind of an end of an era in music, her music filled a unique spot.
I have chills, i just teared up watching this, thinking about how much Fleetwood Mac means to me. and then I take my headphones off and they're playing You Make Loving Fun on the radio at the grocery store. crazy
"You make loving fun" has always been my favorite of hers. Love the chorus. It also showcases Lindsey's genius on the guitar. If you heard just the isolated guitar track, you might not know what song you're hearing. It's a beautiful song by a beautiful talented band.
Maybe the most underappreciated musician of the Rock era
Underappreciated? Are you insane?

Christine's songwriting can't be overstated. She wrote half of the top ten hits from Rumours with Stevie and Lyndsey pitching in the other two. Her voice, keyboard work and melodic choices are everlasting. RIP Christine. You will always be a part of the upbeat music of my childhood.
Don’t you mean, “can’t be overstated”?

I am obsessed with 'You Make Lovin Fun'. It rarely gets mentioned, her swagger in singing the verse, and the insanely beautiful chorus, plus the performance of all the band. RIP ❤
'You Make Lovin Fun' and 'Over and Over' always kill me with the background harmonies. So lush and beautiful... :)
I love the beginning
"Sweettttttttttt...."
Just beautiful
I think of floating around in a field of lillies somewhere
Fabulous song which , as a guitarist, I regularly play and one of my favourite Mac songs. Apart from Christine McVie's top class writing and performance, one of many examples of Buckingham's brilliant accompaniment.
It’s a great song for sure
Those perfectly airy backing vocals behind the verses - I just float away on them, every time. RIP Christine.
This was my Wedding Song. I love how gentle the piano is and how simple, yet sincere the Words are. ❤ All my guests had tears
My wife would sing Song Bird as a lullaby to our kids. It always made me smile. My kids didn't know how cool their Mom is.
These artist we grew up with, you never think of them growing old. 💔
True, and then we look in the mirror and wonder, where have all the years gone ?
That's because we never think of ourselves as growing old. The boomer generation will always be rock and roll.
@@virginiaf.5764 True, that.
True. Im a metallica fan and james and kirk can't be near 60
Everyone gets old but that's the worst part an artist has to live. 😢
I saw Christine with Chicken Shack at the Bluesville 68 club in Bradford in 1969, and again at the Nelson Imperial in the post Peter Green, pre Buckingham Nicks Fleetwood Mac. What a talent!
. ."sweet, wonderful you" . . . . .best opening line for a song ever. i can't even listen to it these days. tears me right up.
I agree, it’s like a piece of my life was just lost. 💔 She was like family, though never meeting her, very sad.
@Mark-eu4di I feel the exactly the same way. I absolutely heartbroken that Christine died. I have loved her and Fleetwood Mac for 40 years.😢💔
I Love Christine McVie, I Miss her So Much. I’ve seen her in concert for decades. I’m glad my 21 year old son had the privilege to see her with me with Lindsey in 2017 then in 2018 with Fleetwood Mac. Thank You So Much for this on TH-cam ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Christine was Fleetwood Mac! The voice, the songs. So brilliant.

Actual bass actual drums. Takes me back
@claypots47 I think you'd really like Weyes Blood's last two records if you're looking for modern tunes with the timelessness you feel you're missing from music today.
It seems that that’s a recurring theme in life we don’t appreciate people when they are here as much as when the die. We take people for granted.
Got a ton of attention when they were hot. No one gets attention, once your not.
I've *always* told people about how Christine was my favorite member of the band.

I understand now
I keep listening to Oh Daddy & Brown Eyes
Brady, the reason she is mourned as someone special to you is because she was able to touch your heart. I don't think I'll be able to sing and play Songbird again for a very long time. You can't sing and cry at the same time. Its funny a lot of times when you are playing a gig - people aren't always too attentive. But when I would sit down at the keyboard to play this song - it was silence. Merry Christmas - may your heart be filled with joy, and you and your family have every happiness.
I agree 100%. The last time I felt so bad about a rock star passing was John Lennon.
I'm one of those people who always seemed to gravitate toward Christine's songs most out of the whole Fleetwood Mac discography. RIP.
Rick I'm 57...this is actually my favorite song from those yrs. . RIP Christine
in 1984 I drove about 2000 miles and I listened to this album over and over and over again. I never tired of it. It always drew me in for one more time.
I was in love with her as a kid, and I’ve always vastly preferred her voice to Stevie’s. What an amazingly talented lady. She’ll be missed greatly! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Nothing against Stevie but I've always agreed with that. Such a smooth, incredibly inviting voice. RIP Christie
Agreed, always preferred Christine's voice.
Her voice was sooo warm , l group her with Marilyn MaCoo for just absolute, natural pitch and tambre .
Unbelievable talent to this day. !!!
Rest peacefully Ms.McVie , hopfully now you can see the ocean of appre iation for your contributions.
I always thought Stevie sang a little " sharp" on pitch. And Karen Carpenter had great pitch.
Nicks is the GOAT. Well, she sounds like one, anyway.
Incredible Record, beautiful talent.
Thank you for the recognition of her passing, this loss was overlooked seemingly for the most part. My local Radio Station said, "Christine Mcvie of Fleetwood Mac has died, She was 79."
That was the whole story. That's just shameful.
I think in many ways she defined the Fleetwood Mac sound perhaps more than any other member. Her voice and her songwriting were so smooth and elegant. RIP Christine McVie, and thank you for sharing your talents with the world.

"...was a gut punch...." Exactly how I felt! Great voice, great songs! RIP Christine! Long Live Rock!
Wish we could appreciate female artists here before they pass.
Thank you so much Rick. C. McVie really deserved this from you.
I have nothing to add to these comments than to say that I loved her.
I broke down when I heard of her passing. Seemed like a milestone of my own life. She was so special.
😆
I did the same when I heard the news of her passing.
Likewise.
Especially tough coming pretty close on the heels of Greeny's departure.
Rareified company indeed. I call myself lucky to have shared an era with them.
I did too! She's been in my life musical for over 40 years. This is hit so hard. I'm so broken-hearted 😢💔
I was born on 1977...Rumours was one of the best albums on that Year...
My favourite song by Christine is "Say You Love Me". The melody, lyrics, bassline, harmonies in the chorus, the tempo, all of it is just so beautiful!
R.I.P Christine!!🙏 You're immortal just like so many other artists who are not with us anymore.
It’s a wonderful song. I also have a soft spot for Warm Ways and Over My Head, both of which are sublime.
@Randy A Same here.
Over My Head is also goated.
Mine is 'HOLD ME" pop perfection, with aces Lindsey production
Probably my favorite as well! I love the banjo laid down by Lindsey Buckingham! 🥰😊
McVie was my favorite musician in this band. 🎶💐
Right there with you 😢♥️
I fully agree. She had a regal aura about her.
You are not.
Well said!
Yup
I was lucky enough to see Fleetwood Mac live at Wembley Stadium a while back. The highlight was Christine McVie coming out on her own during the encore to play Songbird. Truly delightful. She will be greatly missed...
Everywhere was my introduction to Fleetwood Mac back in 87. I was 5. Loved it ever since. Her songwriting and voice, and the simply elegant muted guitar licks have stuck with me ever since. Great band, great songwriter... GREAT LOSS
Fleetwood Mac is one of my favorite bands, Their music just hits a certain mood. Christine's passing is a huge blow.
She was the queen of a catchy tunes and layered harmonies. And by all accounts a genuinely nice person, too.

She had a wonderfully warm, rich voice and her songs were primarily hopeful and loving. McVie leaves a rich musical legacy.

RIP Christine.
well put,,im 60 and that album as just massive in the day,,,and the music lives on,,for us to love
The Bare Trees album got me onto her gifts. She was a significant figure in the rock canon.

Lovely. 😢
Rick, nice tribute to Christine.
I know the feeling, I so hate growing older. Cheers
Definitely tough year
Yep me too, just got to 60 but man what great music we grew up with.
She was amazingly talented and so beautiful too. The world lost a great one. May she rest in peace.
I was hooked on her vocals with "Mystery to Me". Keep on Going was the hook.
Fleetwood Mac is a supergroup, like Queen. Every member is so unique and talented. Multiple singers, multiple composers. Their songs are full of hooks and always some kind of charming sounds.
Sorry, much better than Queen.

Christine McVie was noticed by me as a crucial part of Mac. Maybe not so many others. Her lovely voice, her harmonies, her funky piano rhythms, her gorgeous E-piano. Crucial, and beautiful.
I completely agree she was a crucial, iconic, and irreplaceable piece of the Fleetwood Mac. She will forever be the Queen of the Mac.❤
Her rendition of "Songbird" from Fleetwood Mac's concert "The Dance", recorded live in 1997, is my favourite version. In fact, that whole concert is breathtaking. Highly recommend a watch. RIP Christine.
One of the best live albums of all time imo
Those haunting harmonies during the Chorus of You Make Loving Fun ALWAYS give me chills. She was so unique. Yeah, very sad she passed away. What amazing music she wrote.
My favorite. I've never heard the word " believe " sung so beautifully.
@@brianmasinelli9694 Yeah man, the way she hits the syllables "I never did...." Timeless.
I loved the way she sang. Her voice was different than the usual singer. She will be missed. ❤
So many amazing Christine songs... the White Album's "Warm Ways". Can't believe she's gone...
Thank you for mentioning her earlier work. I was a fan of the band before Buckingham/Nicks joined and was always drawn to Christine's contributions.

She’ll be missed. I’ve always said that she was the soul of that band. What a talent that we can experience in perpetuity.

Christine had such a mellow and soulful voice. All of the good ones are leaving us. RIP, Christine.
I have chills, i just teared up watching this, thinking about how much Fleetwood Mac means to me. and then I take my headphones off and they're playing You Make Loving Fun on the radio at the grocery store. crazy

Bach is up there still schooling them all.
"You make loving fun" has always been my favorite of hers. Love the chorus. It also showcases Lindsey's genius on the guitar. If you heard just the isolated guitar track, you might not know what song you're hearing. It's a beautiful song by a beautiful talented band.
