I have my Rack Pack trunk by Lone Peak facing the other way, with the black side towards my head, and the gold side towards traffic. I also have one of those Aardvark safety triangles on the rear, which mate up perfectly with the size of the Rack Pack. I really like my Rack Pack trunk a lot, even better than my tried and true Arkel Tailrider. You are right about not really knowing about a product until you actually have it on your own personal trike in front of you ... only then can you determine if the fit, feel, and function are as you envision!

      Agreed 👍.
The reason why I choose to put the black side of the Lone Peak rack pack in the back, is because I'm going to put a reflective triangle there anyway.
So covering up that black area works. The front shows the gold color of the rack pack along with the reflective stripe and "Lone Peak" label.
This gives more bright gold color and the reflective stripe to finish off the pack.
      Just a personal preference. 😉.

@@The-GreenHornet I like that this trunk can go either direction. I have actually seen trikers who put their Arkel Tailrider with the little end up front, but I never tried that. The Lone Peak label at the end serves as a blinky light holder for those who want to use it that way. I just decided to cover it up with the triangle, and then make a custom light bar under the bag where I attach multiple tail lights.

Yeah, I've seen images of where some people put the Arkel Trail Rider fast pack on their rear rack backwards, having the big taller end in the rear of their rack.
I guess I just have a ultra sense of detail. To me, it looks funny with the big taller end at the rear.
IMHO the slope should be at the rear. Looks more streamlined.
      To each their own.
We don't have that issue with the Lone Peak 16L rectangular rack pack. It's the same look either way, minus my personal opinion on the color end showing up front.
      Just my opinion.
Your set up looks top notch 👌...
The gold panniers on your trike.
      Super clean looking 👌.
I was doing a comparison between the Lone Peak panniers and my Ortlieb back roller classic panniers.
You have the extra space on top for overfill, plus some extra outside pockets, but my Ortlieb panniers are 2" taller, and wider, but don't have the extra pockets.
So probably even out in comparison.
My last overnight stealth camping trip, riding home in the rain the next morning. I realized that my Ortlieb panniers being made from that pvc coating, will continue to stay clean looking if caught in the rain and muck.
Just rinse off and walla... new looking again.
Hope you get out soon and enjoy your new panniers and tent. You could just do a overnight across the bridge at the campground south of your town. Not far yet try everything out.
      Thanks for commenting 🙂

@@The-GreenHornet When I sold my Arkel GT-54 panniers after several years of touring use, they looked as good as new because I always used the rain covers on my trips, rain or shine, which kept them clean and fade-free. I've seen a bunch of cycle adventurers who don't cover their bags in dry weather, and after a few years of use, the bag colors are very faded and the material is worn. Rain covers are easy to replace and cost a fraction of the bags themselves, thus my choice to use them ... I will be using them on my new Lone Peak bags also, just for this very reason.
