Lace is not advisable, better to use light fabric that drapes well. I used approximately 3 yards.

Thank you for your reply, one more question please. You added 3 inches to your quarter hip measurement, why? You said 2 inches for seam allowance and 1 inch for sewing allowance (I think you meant to say something else since they mean the same thing) so which is for what please?

Depending on your size and the width of your fabric, 2 yards may be ok since it's a short dress.
