Thank you for this video.
I'm getting a Pi 400 [ for Christmas ! ] so I will have a go following your instructions. It will be needed for a trip next year.
Jim
Very good video
Thank you for sharing! :-)
you should use Open CPN to decode then it can apply it directly to the plotter
Great video.Can I ask a question?
Where can i find the settings for my Dongle?
I seem to recieve in GQRX ( green bar is moving), but no "waterfall".
Hi, first congratulations for the videos!
I am an enthusiast who is starting to discover all the possibilities that Raspberry can offer me and all your videos are definitely helping me a lot.
I would like to be able to exchange more knowledge with you if possible in the future. At the moment I have only one question, is it possible to use the same DONGLE for AIS and WeatherFax?
Thank you for your attention and I will be waiting for your contact.
My best regards Andre.
Check also BBN Marine OS for raspberry pi4. Many free and opensource boat software packages preinstalled and preconfigured.
If people have more knowledge about the range of Weatherfax, or want to share their experience, please post it in the comments.
great info. Do you know if I can use OpenPlotter FlDigi to decode the weatherfax from my Garmin M802 HAM/SSB radio ? Then I wouldn't have to fire up Windows for weather reception.
open CPN has a weatherfax decoder plug-in
Well done mate, cut the intro a bit shorter and I'll be happy as a clam :)
How well does weather fax and AIS play together? I presume you need to stop AIS reception and then fire up weather fax. What about the hardware? Do you need to remove the active antenna for AIS reception? Great videos!! Thanks for putting these up.
I had the same question! Did you end up figuring it out?
@Patric better late than never! Thank you
I have a usb Comar AIS-3R receiver for AIS connected to the PI which enables me to use shortwave receiving via SDRplay or RTLsdr. detailed charts are slowing down the PI better manage that before. I am using the Raspberry Pi-400.
Hello,
The Mini whip Antenna from the Link is no longer available. Does anyone have an alternative?
Don't buy cheap RTL-SDR clones. Buy the original one, it's not much price difference but the quality is.
FL Biggy? lol
