Oh, and if you do east coast again - Island, Howth, Royal Dublin, Powerscourt and European Club. Mount Juliet, and Tulfarris (my local) are another handful of great courses that are worth checking in future.

Great choice to start from the 6th....remember teeing off there seeing a grave yard and the regulation caravan site on the way...thinking this is bit shit....then we turned along the coast...OMG!!! There are 2 par 3's back to back one short uphill about 125 or so and the next 200....I hit the same 5 iron on both....and didn't get up on the short one......awesome place!!!!

On my one chance to play Ballybunion, the course was closed due to horrendous weather which had made the greens waterlogged. In addition to the monsoon, we had forty mph winds. In July!
I envy you guys for being able to play so many links-style courses. I imagine that half the golfers in the US have never played a links course, mainly due to there being so few links courses here and you would likely have to drive for hours and hours to play one. They are really missing out because the ocean/seas and dunes provide for fantastic scenery and wind.

I’m fairly new to competition golf particularly match play and in a recent competition I was given a put close to the hole but as you all sometimes to I chose to tap it in with the back of my putter and it missed my playing partner then said the stroke counted this meaning I lost the hole is this correct?
I played BB a few days after you. The absence of grass on the fairways was a shock. Apparently they had reseeded just before the eight week summer drought, which, lacking sprinklers, proved to be fatal. It’s a monster of a course, but it wasn’t my favourite.
Get yourselves up to Dornoch play there and Tain ,Nain and castle Stuart on the way home ...you will cream your pants....if you love links....you may even be able to worm your way onto Skibo
