- Very few congregants hear the true, inspired word of God these days. Our churches are filled more and more with watered-down messages lacking sound doctrine. Here is the late Dr. S.M. Lockridge speaking on the state of today's modern churches and the need to proclaim the name of JESUS again in our church services. When a person yields to the lordship of Jesus Christ, he or she acknowledges His ownership and gives up his or her personal rights. Yielding to the lordship of Jesus Christ also involves total and unreserved obedience. If He is the Lord of your life, you are going to do what He tells you to do. May this message resonate in your heart as you listen.

Dr Lockridge was my pastor he really taught god’s word and was such a pleasant person a big congregation but he knew us all by our name such a sweet wife also I miss both of them when I reminiscing I just listen to these great sermons by him awesome pastor teacher I had so much respect for him even the children loved him and would sit attentively to his teaching he’s gone now but his memory lives on still here at Calvary true man of God🙏

You are blessed to have had a pastor like SM Lockridge. I'm only 58 years young but when I got saved in 2003, I heard a sermon by your pastor in '78 on the radio entitled: "The Lordship of Christ!" That was given at The Moody Bible Institute during Founder's Week. E.V Hill & S.M Lockridge are two favorites of mine.

I was wondering since there’s no church listed. Growing up San Diego (but now in N Carolina) I flashed back to that big pink building... Calvary Baptist Church was the most well known worship center when I was young. Really a cool gift to get this Thanksgiving 🥰
@daniel letterman It's not selling "religion" at all. It's introducing a relationship. Religion (when you define it as practice of good deeds, creeds, ordinances, rules, etc) is man's vain attempt to somehow justify himself by his good works. The relationship I'm talking about is a living one, with the living Lord Jesus Christ. Only He can save us. We can't possibly save ourselves. We can never get good enough for God. God is absolute and total perfection and holiness. Only the absolutely perfect and holy can dwell in His presence. We can never hope to achieve that unless the perfection of Jesus Christ is imputed to us by faith in what He did on the cross.
The effects of knowing Christ are not psychological, although they do affect the psyche. No, the effects are much deeper. You become new. You're born a second time. The part of you that was dead, your spirit, is made alive. You;re given a new nature. This nature transforms your life. You don't become perfect or sinless in this life, but you now know the sinless and perfect one in this life - and He transforms you over time to the image of His Son. This transformation is of mind, soul and spirit - not merely the psyche.

Rev. Lockridge baptized me at Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego, and gifted me my Holy Bible signed in 1953, I still have it today, I'm so glad he spoke to my spirit at a ypung age.

@@AnnabelleJARankin You seem to be confused at the application and use of the word anoint, anointed and anointing. Yes Yeshua is The Annointed of YHWH, no one is disputing that.There are other annointings that take place in the bible. Such as the annointing of kings by the high priest for example.
Please read your bible and not commentaries. Try using the Logos as your reference point if you intend to argue your point about scripture.

Most do not want old time gospel. They want new and modern. Think they know better then God. God has written Icobod over the doors.

I heard S.M. Lockridge preach these messages 40 years ago in Knoxville, TN
I heard him preach a sermon about the 3 Hebrew children thrown in the fiery furnace in the book of Daniel. He named the sermon SHADRACK, MESHACK AND A BAD NEGRO, by the way S.M. in Mr. Lockridge's name stands for Shadrack Meshack so he said. I still remember these sermons some 40 years later they were and still are anointed of God, listen to every word.

S.M. Lockridge said 40 years ago, if you read the Bible and you don't see Jesus in the scriptures, you missed the message because He is on every page in word or type or meaning. The Bible is actually His Story and the word History is all about Jesus it is His Story can you not see how God puts these simple things in hidden texts and messages?
