Gene Loves Jezabel was what the weird sort of Death Rock Kids (which is now referred to as Goth)were into..Now in hienz sight it does have a sort of pop sound but this was not played on top 40 radio

I was so lucky to see them at the L.A street scene back in 1986 with my best friend. My dad worked in downtown L.A and I don't know how the heck he talked my mom into letting me go but he did and even though at the end of the night a massive riot broke out, we were able to find my Dad that came looking for us thankfully! Ahhhh but that was such an awesome day even with all the craziness that happened. I remember we were standing on top of these oil drums watching Gene Loves Jezebel and Madness...So freaking awesome!!!

Back in the late 80's, at the height of their popularity, promotion ads were out about their pending concert in our little third world country called the Philippines...but sure enough they cancelled their visit. 20 years later I see them in some noon time Filipino variety show performing in front of stoic looking people who had no idea who they are and couldn't relate to their style of music. I just told myself, these guys are waaay too late, lol
