This is what it's all about man...I miss TH-camrs building cheap cars like this. This is relatable to everyone - building a multi hundred thousand dollar supercar isn't. That's just my opinion, but I am loving this series so far. Great job man

May be able to replace the “detent springs” in the transmission to make it a little less floppy on the shifter. They’re usually cheap and pretty easy to change if you can get to the little opening that’s usually on the side of the transmission. Maybe not though! Depends on the car

not sure how long you plan on keeping the single cam but you should look into solid bushings for the shif linkage. it will eliminate some of the floppyness. I used to have the hybrid shifter and I chassis mounted it. it was so crisp
So crazy I just took delivery last week of my '92 EG Hatchback. Anthony over @wirewhere extended an offer I couldn't refuse. And to make it extra spice to the deal, he offered a K24A4 longblock with an EP3 gearbox 💯💯💯
Check the wiring going to the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on the transmission that gives the cluster the speedo signal.
The clusters dying like both of your have is super common, what you're gonna want to do is take out your manual cluster and reflow the solder joints on the back circuit board, the solder tends to lift over the years this happened to my SI cluster and after reflowing the solder I haven't had a problem with it !
I got the same personal grinta in my ek! I like it a lot over the momo monte Carlo.

Try cleaning the vss (vehicle speed sensor) connector tabs. Its on the back of the trans near the firewall. Remove the connector, usually there is corrosion in the connector and on the tabs of the sensor.
Headlight cleaner the dials, it works wonders 👌👌

Put some detent spring, your shifter will feel so notchy bro! Plus change that speed sensor so that speedo will work! I love the build man keep it going.

if the stock speedo isnt working i would check the ground to the trans and the speed sensor on the trans. my speedo wasnt working but they i did a motor swap and a rywire harness and the speedo started working, which im sure is because of the speed sensor. loving the build so far man

chemical guys make this dope plastic cleaner. It's called vrp. Highly recommend it for the clear plastic of the cluster.
Check your speed sensor. That could be the problem for your speedo, however because the other cluster was working but bouncing, I would pull the cluster in the car now and check the solder. It may just need to be resoldered if it has a loose connection.
To get ur speed to work get a new speed sensor it’s easy to replace its on the back on the trans one 10mm bolt and it comes right out

Check the plug for your speed sensor on the transmission, normally when the speedometer act up the plug is corroded. Good old DW40 should fix your problem if it is corroded

Will you be doing spoon parts on the car? Also the spoon rear view mirror is a very nice accessory I recommend so you can see the other cars when you pass them😂
Don't forget to add a 3 gauge pod for oil and other stuff you will want for the track.
Some polishing compound would make the cluster look new
