The legend of Kupe continues; commemorative centre opens in the Hokianga

Dubbed ‘Manea Footprints of Kupe’, a new centre in Opononi has opened which pays homage to Kupe through live performances and an interactive gallery.
Locals say that it's an opportunity for those living in Hokianga to gain employment as well as showcase the tales of their own ancestor, the Polynesian navigator, to the world.
