- The beautiful village of Rijal Almaa is one of the most intriguing places we visited in Saudi Arabia! Have you heard of this fairytale village in the hills of Abha? It is sometimes known as the Gingerbread Village due to it's unique appearance...
The village is more than 900 years old and has an interesting history. It's location was ideal linking people coming from Yemen and the Levant through to the Holy City of Makkah and Medina. And as a result, it became an important trade centre in the 'Asir Region.
We had an amazing day making a road trip from the small town of Halaba towards Abha and then onwards to find the famed village of Rijal Almaa. And we met some great people on the way!
It was another memorable adventure in beautiful Saudi Arabia.

It's was incredible experience with me when I was visited this amazing Al souda Aseer Mountain Range and Also Rijal alma A ancient historical village in aseer mountain range. I visited couple of times and I wish to visit again ❤

Tremendous place to visit. Beautiful mountain terrain surrounded with trees and fog. How native people showing the love to the visitor. Absolutely amazing.
Imagine these young guys growing up travelling, and when they're fully adults they probably seen the every corner of the world. 😁 Not only seeing the world, they're absorbing vasts knowledge along the way.
When I see them I always say the same thing those kids gonna grow up smart and confident and thanks to ‘em parents for traveling the world and see different cultures and different languages and know how to interact with people

This fruit is called Prickly pear. it's sweet and grown naturally in mounts of Taif till the southern mounts of Saudi Arabia!

That fruit is called "barbed figs" or teen shawki (تين شوكي), another Saudi name for it would be Barshoomi (برشومي). I had several of them growing around my home and they taste amazing when they're ripe and sweet and succulent and refrigerated. It's kind of one of the most planted and harvested cacti in all of Arabia, especially in Hijaz and the south. Of course, all cacti come from the Americas so they're not native here, but they might as well seeing how much we love them lol.

Wrong, it is an endemic plant in the highlands of the Arabian Peninsula

Love your attitude about exploring uncharted territories both distant geography and culture. In Saudi Arabia, there are many sites. Al-Ahsa is beautiful. The seasons are generally beautiful in Saudi Arabia. As for the south, it is an unforgettable adventure because of the high mountains, beautiful roads, lit cities, and simple life.

2:33 It's a fruit that has an outer layer of spikes that is chopped off so you can get to the part that can be eaten. You can usually find it being sold by people on the road near stores (it's called Barshomee in Saudi) just like the guy who was selling honey. You should also eat it cold as it makes it taste even better. Also, drink water after eating it so that it doesn't upset your stomach.

I am from rijal almaa , born and raised there as alittle shepherd in the early days. back then every thing was very primitive . You eat what grow and havest you feed only on your land and animal products . Things have developed and evolved tremendously since then Now, I am close to retirement and i am considering building a little water park to help enhance the life style of the local people and add a value to the tourism in my town .
