  • This is a special video from our time in Saudi Arabia when a very literal chance meeting up in the mountains of Abha led to us spending a couple of days with Mohammed and his family at their home!
All around Saudi Arabia we have been humbled by the kindness of strangers and the hospitality of the people of Saudi Arabia.
A big thank you to Mohammed and your family for hosting us and sharing food, time and your culture - memories that we will treasure for many years to come!
    Thanks for watching! :)

@@salehfaris3269 Jazak´Allah khayr akhi. I am a sister by the way. Thanks for clearing that up. No brother, I guess it´s a cultural difference. In Pakistan, the wife would also have come forward (unless it´s a really really small village or so where people are more camera shy and conservative). There isn´t any extra responsibility on women to be hidden, brother. Hijaab applies to men as well. If the man can sit in front of a strange woman (Sarah), then so can his wife with full hijaab. A Muslim woman is not asked to hide any more than a man. Muslim men are also supposed to not sit with strange women in that case. Anyway, I totally respect your culture. Our religion is a very fair one....it does not really put extra responsibility only on women, but our men take a lot of liberty in some cultures.

Reading the translation of the welcoming speech was really touching.🥲 The country may well be the safest in the world for travellers. Hygiene standards are very high. You can drink the water and eat at restaurants without fear of getting sick. Hotel prices are very reasonable, food is cheap, as is petrol.
The Saudis are extremely hospitable to travellers and you get extra respect for wearing the Abaya/Thobe.

In 16:04 I am saudi and I am surprise about what he said, really nice. So he was welcoming you and he said to you that this place is the tribe meeting place.
To give you context.. we as Arab socially constructed our selves as tribes not families, tribe have multiple families in it. And the tribe have a regular meeting like twice or once a year , it is different from tribe to another.. they meet to debate and discuss and solve the issues of their tribe members and all of that. And then the leader of the tribe we call it (Sheekh al-quabila) will take these problems and be the mutual person between us as tribe members and the royal family. I think thats why he mentioned the royal family and praise them. The fact you sitting in the head of the room where the leader sit really means a-lot. Enjoy guys ❤️❤️🇸🇦

see why it’s difficult to reject an Arabian family invitation
reason is that if say i can’t or whatever the reason you actually made feel bad
feeling bad i mean they think that they’re not trustworthy or unsafe
plus if you accept their invitation they would feel proud as they do think you guys spent long time
exhausted, also they would feel proud among the neighbors that they’re hospitable and generous
towards travelers as a good reputation to the town and city, it’s a small do but great outcomes 🙏🏽👍🏽

This is what our religion taught us since childhood. There is no need for you to speak English or any other language. You can communicate with others lovingly by greeting them in sign language or in any other way. Our religion taught us to respect all nationalities, religions, colors and races, so we welcome everyone, because it stems from the teachings of our Islamic religion.🇸🇦🇸🇦💛💛

I believe all humans tend to be kind and welcoming, that’s human nature. But when it comes to generosity and hospitality, no bias at all, no one would come close to the Arabians 🇸🇦 They glorify generosity since old Arabians lived in harsh conditions, they appreciated and glorified and wrote poems about those who are extremely generous..

We (the Arabs) and especially the Saudis are known for Hospitality.
Whenever we see foreigners we directly approach them by inviting them to our houses.
It would be a shame if you rejected the invitation unless you have a reasonable reason as we view your acceptance to our invitation and your visit to our house as an honor for us.
