Theoretically, a blind person can use this as a 3x3, since he/she could count how many dots are on each cubie. It would take a very long time though, not even factoring in the fact that the average person cannot solve a 3x3.
I guess its a pretty good beginner cube. If you get frustrated then just take it apart and put it back together. No stickers, no mess. Although it would decrease your motivation to solve it how it's supposed to be solved I guess.

Looks like a blast to play with. Grip seems crucial though as you pointed out. You think its the odd sided ones that would be easier with the magnets? Being that it gives it a proper center to rotate.
can you do this so that if you turn it 45 degrees it will turn like that because of the magnetic shapeshifting? this is a basicly snap-n-stack rubiks cube
I wonder if he could use cubic magnets on the corners of the middle dice to create a 2x2 magnetic core piece to stabilize the 4x4 a bit. So one corner of each of the center dice would be cut off and a cubic magnet glued in the place. Might be prone to breaking off of the dice, though, idk.

They need to find a way to mass produce these. The labor costs just make the big ones prohibitively expensive and there's nothing that interesting about the small ones.
If we made a 3x3 into a triangle with the mastermorphix, what if you made a pyraminx into a square, I think that would make a great mod , and if you did that mod what would you name it
+sTw Aqua That was a first attempt. I've solved it a few times now. It's all about the grip. It's actually really good, just need to understand how to grip it before turns.

The 3x3x3 is impressive. I guess the 4x4x4 suffers from not having "center" cubies to rotate around... Still really nice!

Well I'm thankful that Ernõ Rubik didn't go with magnets to create his original, otherwise we might never have the mechanisms we have now.

Well you can't turn the 4x4 because it doesn't have a core, right? You have to separate the four magnets, move half the cube, then unite them again.
