I had a carrier I worked with recently who did that. Super strange way because every other major carrier I've worked for do it, at least similar, to how it was done here.
@@therider394 Na, Homesite. Weird insult as I've been on roofs for 10 years. Just because a carrier rules something, doesn't mean people agree. People on the internet are funny.
Why are you saying there is no waste on felt? Are you assuming the roofers will perfectly cut the underlayment every time? If you have 2400 sqft to cover and 2400 sqft of covering, you will need waste still.
@@AdjusterTV Thanks for the response! Customary or not, couldn't it be argued if a carrier adjuster tried to deny it? I hope you open your classes soon, I'd like to sign up!
@@idonz21 theres like 5-10% of waste built into every line item. Shingles get waste because the line item doesn't have any waste built in. 2 months late sorry, but im sure a lot of people have the same question.
The property editor for waste values isn't commonly used, why? Valley configurations, whether open or half-laced/woven, are seldom updated. Note that the property editor allows for adjustments to the starter course. It's surprising that many overlook this step. Where is the starter course? Please do not say it is factored in the waste. Otherwise you did a great job on this roof estimate.
Hey! Dean here - wife behind the scenes. You'll find those macros available in the resources section under this vid: adjustertvplus.com/programs/xactimatemax Good to have you!
No because there is a waste factor applied to the "putting on" part. So if it's a 10 SQ roof and there's a 10% waste factor then you'd tear off 10 SQ and install 11 SQ.
uuuuugggghhhhhh why do i need to watch a 25 minute video just to find the right line item for a 3 tab shingle composition roof that doesn't add up to $200K

Thanks so much this is fantastic !!
You're the best I appreciate you
do you have a video on how you get the gruoping window set up like that ?
Should i be here before xactimate level 1 ?
As a staff adjuster we use the Activity of 1 for Material and 1 for Installation for shingles
I had a carrier I worked with recently who did that. Super strange way because every other major carrier I've worked for do it, at least similar, to how it was done here.

In 20 years I've never put waste on felt and I've never seen a contractor's estimate with waste on felt. It's just not customary.

@@farmbureauvideos xactimate will give you an actual definition and it does not state it includes waste in that definition.
I was told you wasn’t suppose to add depreciation to labor.
You dont, add depreciation to material only

3 tab shingles are their own ridge cap
Just out of curiosity wouldn't you be tearing off the same amount your putting on?

@Adjuster TV but your not including the starters and cap that has to go on also though are you? That'll add a couple sq itself.
How could the contractor and adjuster come together to better help the client.
I wonder if Bozeman pricing is worse than Kalispell?🤣
Good point, I imagine so.
Did you really go on for 7 minutes of 25 about depreciation in notes...?
Damn straight.
This is hard
I hear Eric Thomas school is good too
Shitty adjuster, no starter, valley metal, ridge cap. Terrible, you must work for all state

Well back in my day, sonny.. comp shingles were a nickel a square and roofers were happy to make that much!
