Amazing pilotage. Non pilots, I presume, would not recognize how intense a short flight like that is. So much going on in such a short time. You made it look easy! Hoping to see you sometime at TRM.
I was at the aircraft expo. Didn't realize it was your TBM I was checking out. lol. Nice quick flight, done it many times during my PPL training. Goes a lot quicker in the TBM of course. As others have mentioned, the 31 runway doesn't actually begin until the threshold (the arrows leading up to it are yellow instead of white). My understanding is it designed this way to protect the local wildlife from prop wash. But it's a short runway for the TBM, so nobody is going to fault you for making use of every inch of pavement available.
I was impressed with all that you were able to do so quickly with such a short flight. Everything was happening so fast, but you managed to stay ahead of the airplane. It’s something I try to keep drilling into my own head. Stay ahead of the plane Russ! Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Things definitely happen a lot faster in the TBM, even more so on a short flight like this. It's why I ended up taking more mentor hours than insurance recommended.
I really like your videos. I live in the East Bay and enjoy your travels in and out of Bay Area airports. (Also, I like flying the TBM 930 in MSFS 2020, and I learn so much from your flights and views of the cockpit, along with your communications with ATC.) Thanks.
Hi Marcin! As always, thanks for sharing! I’d like you to consider sharing full length flights from a window view. No commentary, no editing, just the full reel. The TBM always offer such great views. 😊
That was quite a busy cockpit there for a while. I find it a bit stressful when you have to copy ATIS while listening to the destination tower at the same time. Nice approach, timed perfectly. You actually didn't get lined up with the centerline until you were halfway between the fence and the threshold, but you made it look as easy as if you were lined up a mile out.
Thanks, Marcin, for another great video, all be it a short one I always enjoy your flights. Was interesting to hear her barking about a taxiway when you did a full stop prior to taking off, I could understand her barking at you if you didn't stop thinking you were still on a taxiway. Thanks for the quickie. In all the videos that you have posted you're always on a mission meaning your flights are for a purpose like horse show, snowboarding, maintenance and so on. Do you ever just think to yourself I need to get away from the daily grind and give the plane a workout, go do some sightseeing, no IFR, just the enjoyment of flying?
The runway length at KPAO is 2441ft and the published landing distance is 2430 ft (usually at ideal conditions). Was there a good wind down the runway when you landed or something else that gave you confidence that you could land at KPAO? I've landed there in a SR22T (published landing distance is 2080 ft) and found it to be a bit challenging but easily doable.
8:22, well, technically the part you began your takeoff roll on is a taxi way, albeit a very small one. Given the small runway for the TBM I and likely most pilots would do the same, that is to use all available pavement in order to take off. However, in the "by the books case" you would ideally start your takeoff at the white arrows before the threshold. TL;DR, I would've done exactly the same, but thats why the plane was complaining at you.
Marcin, I have noticed in several of your videos that your glare shield, right where the HomeSafe button is, appears to be pulsating. In this video, it starts at the 08:01 mark. I'm curious, is the glare shield actually pulsating, or is it an artifact of the recording?
Thanks for another great video. I can't believe how close your base was to the airport. You were still turning over the RWY, before the displaced threshold. Can you even use the PAPI's in that situation or are you just "winging it"?
bruh I saw this flight on plane finder just as you took off and I look again a few min later and I see u on app to KSJC and I get so confused(I was getting deja vu bcuz a Delta 757 did a repositioning from KSFO to KSJC) also at 5:33 is that an F8F BEARCAT also the ground signs for the taxiways on the synth vision are stupidly large but useful ;)
Heh, a DPE failed a ppl candidate at KPAO because they took off from the taxiway instead of taxiing up to the runway threshold. However, literally everyone does that. So, that's why your plane was telling you taxiway. Technically it is still a taxiway. Pretty smart plane!
Gorgeous plane! Though, personally would have prefered a panel or inside angle on the turns, rather than an outaode wingtip pointed at our gorgeous sky.
I miss the days when Pilots were actually PILOTS, and not button pushing systems managers who fold up and act like deer in the headlights when their precious electronics go Tango Uniform. Who knows how to figure true course vs magnetic course in their head, or what heading do they need to intercept a given radial at a particular distance from a fix? I just watched a video where a pilot with all the bells and whistles of today killed themselves because they couldn't FLY THE AIRCRAFT... Geez... Hammer USAF SSgt; US Army CW4/SrAviator; INS/ICE/CBP, ret.
Hand flying skills are very important, however, as is using every tool in your toolset. Automation saves lives, especially when flying in adverse weather or during high stress situations like an approach.
@@mkleczynski It also KILLS people! As in the JAL crash that happened when the flight crew couldn't handle basic flying skills when their magic electronics took a dump. AVIATE, communicate, navigate. Hammer
I'm pretty sure Marcin hand-flew that rather busy KPAO KSJC flight, in a relatively fast turbine no less. As for automation, I'll take an RNAV LPV over a VOR APPROACH any day, if we're talking about safety margins. Times change; technology improves.
Amazing pilotage. Non pilots, I presume, would not recognize how intense a short flight like that is. So much going on in such a short time. You made it look easy! Hoping to see you sometime at TRM.
There was allot going on and he made it look easy
Sometimes, short flights, especially those between very busy controlled airports, require attention. Thanks you for sharing this video.

I blinked, almost missed it. A terrific super quick one, for sure.
Wow, a lot of work in short time, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the quick ride!!!👍
Man you make it look so easy...and fun

Amazing panel for a prop! At first thought it be small jet.
The way it shows the taxiway IDs is amazing.

Nice quick flight!
Short and busy. Nice flight.
Thanks for this one Marcin! I’ve yet to fly mine into PAO, I guess that’s on my list for my next challenge!
Chuck, my quest is only half complete. Chris flew it in for the show, I only flew it out!

Ed just turned me on to your channel - sweet landing!!
Went to both of those airports frequently as a kid.
Do you have an opinion on the Epic as far as being something you would consider and, why or why not? Thanks!
Great plane, goes higher, goes about as fast. Concerns I have are support system as there are not many flying yet.
Tailor Swift is taking notes from you after this one
Very cool video!

I did not fly the aircraft into Palo Alto for this specific leg. I was still new to the plane so an AVEX pilot flew it in for the show.

Pulled up Palo Alto on Foreflight. Looks like you were off the ground in about 1200 feet? Thats impressive

It's actually vibrating. I've sent it to maintenance a few times and it's gotten better, but not fixed yet.
That would be annoying. I hope they resolve it for you soon.
That is super cool! #goals

also insanely smooth landing
It might actually be a Texan, but I'm not sure!
Hauling ass taxing!!!
On taxiway on taxiway, i thought this shit happens only on PMDG, but it happens in real life too 😂😂😂😂

Why does it look like the top of your dash is bouncing? I noticed it right in the middle. Is it the camera making it look like it's moving?
Yeah, it's a squawk I need to file. It was way worse before.
Man it had me rubbing my eyes lol! Is this something all of the 960's do?@@mkleczynski
LoL.....is this the new C.C. flight? Good Lawwwd.
What did the yankee1 mean?
That's just the taxiway I am supposed to hold short of.
@@mkleczynski cool. good to see the bay area, im up here in elk grove but from milpitas, daughter lives in sunnyvale. good flying.
KDPA, let's do some filming/photos when it's warmer. Kurwa.

"Short runway, shorter flight." you should just drive
😂 agreed. Had to reposition the plane, though.
