Favorite uploads from all my subs these days are you and Ted Lasso. I love this show, and seeing others watch it the first time brings me so many smiles. Congrats on your success
Both of Rebecca’s apologies are so well-done. We have all of the sorrow and regret with Ted, then we finally get to see the long friendship between her and Higgins when she said “I'm sorry” to him.
WOOF WOOF! Episodes 8 and 9 are 2 of my favorite episodes in the whole series. No teasing us or repeated close encounters to build suspense, just straight up Ted hustling Rupert to defend Rebcca and then a direct apology for what Rebecca had done this whole season. Talking like adults with no tip toeing or half truths. I love this show so much!
The confession scene is a wonderful example of the subtlety of great acting. It's being driven by this powerful confession by a tearing Rebecca delivered by the formidable Hannah Waddingham. But that performance is anchored by Jason Sudeikis. It would have been... almost cheap of the effervescent Ted just blindly accepted the apology in a display of saccharine positivity. But by this point in the show, we know that's not Ted. Ted's face changes. You see hurt. Betrayal. Anger. And then the understanding that makes Ted genuine, not saccharine. That wash of emotion is what gives that moment of understanding, redemption, and forgiveness real gravitas.
It's amazing to me that Rebecca actually cares what Keeley thinks of her. It really speaks to their friendship and their total lack of caring about social/class distinctions.
I eagerly wait for this episode every time someone starts reacting to Ted Lasso. Just that closeup on Rebecca’s face after Rupert hurts her, yet again - it breaks my heart every time. It doesn’t excuse her behavior, but we as the audience understand her pain all the more & why she was so hell bent on her plan. But the difference between her & Rupert is that she ultimately is a good person, and realizes that she can’t keep hurting people like Rupert has done to her. Such an amazing performance.
When it comes to a person being angry when we confess a wrongdoing: culturally we often assume that anger over a wrong is an indication of how much a person cares about what was wounded (be it a person, relationship, etc). So if they are not angry, it can feel like they are failing to appreciate what we are apologizing for and the effort/care we're attempting to communicate by apologizing. It's certainly possible for this to happen, sometimes people just aren't that bothered. But it's important to remember that anger isn't the only form of expressing care or value. Ted is a fabulous example of a person whose appreciation for you and what led you to err is his genuine response. It's not that he doesn't appreciate the extent of the wrong or her apology, it's that he actually really does appreciate those things AND what led her there in the first place. It's beautiful. Sometimes we can want a person to get angry or be mad at us in some way after apologizing. But if that's not how they naturally feel and their forgiveness is genuine, then our desire for that anger is more about ourselves than them or making things right. It's because we struggle to forgive ourselves or understand how things can be okay without a reaction of anger. We need it to help forgive ourselves. If that's the case, then we should work to better trust that anger isn't necessary for forgiveness -- not demand they be angry/put on feelings they don't genuinely feel. Either way, if a person isn't angry and can genuinely forgive us it's especially necessary that you offer that sincerely. If you do it just 'to be the bigger person' or because you feel like it's what you should do, that's not fair to the person apologizing. It'll make it hard for them to trust you in the future when you say how you feel about things. TL;DR reactions like Ted's are totally possible, a beautiful thing to aspire to, and yet it's okay if we aren't there yet. =)
I love Ted's forgiving Rebecca right away because you can see in the scene that he paused to think it over before doing it. I'm glad they didn't make it so the "nice" character just shallowly forgave without any real consideration because so often in media "nice" goes hand-in-hand with "dumb" but Ted (and Keeley too) are both examples of really nice, sweet people who are also intelligent and good at what they do.
Trent Crimm appears in the background as a reporter for the Daily Planet in the show My Adventures with Superman so I appreciate Teds joke a lot more now.
There’s a video of all of his Sesame Street clips in the episode he was on. Apparently, Brett is a huge Muppets fan, so being on the show was a highlight of his life!
“Brunette Oscar the Grouch” is one of my favorite descriptions of Roy, since Brett Goldstein is totally obsessed with the Muppets in real life. He calls being on Sesame Street one of the best days of his life. If you can track down the episode on Max, it’s season 53, ep 11. It has no spoilers for season 2 and a number of very cute references. Also, I read in another page that Dani is singing the title song in Spanish. My Spanish wasn’t good enough to pick up on that. If you look at Hannah’s humor in her interviews, Rebecca’s procrastinating is basically Hannah being straight up her silly self. Hannah has also talked about drawing from her own infertility struggles and wanting to put that into Rebecca. They accepted her input for the character. It’s so gross that Rupert is basically having a kid to spite her. Poor kid. Jeremy Swift also plays the bass in real life.
"A League of Their Own." Steven, what you said about being a fish, forgetting by the time you move to the other side of the bowl, just reminds me of Dori. lol I'm an INFJ, to the bone. 🥰 I couldn't wait for you guys to get to this episode. One of my favorites. I wanted to love Rebecca, and this one here allowed me to - no holds bar. Keeley is definitely the MVP in this one, because I'm not sure Rebecca would have revealed to Ted what she was up to so soon; but Rupert's shit pushed her over the edge.
I hope you guys check out Shrinking after this! Same creators as Ted, has the same magic of character progression, and has Jason Segel, Christa Miller and Harrison Ford!
I love you guys so much and I’ve been waiting for your ted lasso episodes. I am in love with the show and I love seeing how y’all react. Can’t wait for you to watch the season finale. Love you guys!
This show sneaks up on you with the human nature stuff. It's what got this so a number of Emmys. Roy Kent is my spirit animal. A solid breakthrough episode with Rebecca coming clean and Roy facing some hard truths, but has Keeley there to help him through it. One more episode in the season!!!!
Yes! Anthony S Head's are different colours, Or rather his right one has a slice of golden brown in it. This is his 4th Rupert he's played, One was in the 70s, then there was Rupert Giles in Buffy TVS, then he's in Jack Ryan and this as a Rupert. 🙂
I'm an INFJ! We are very similar. Great review - I knew you guy would LOVE this show. We keep hearing rumors of a season 4 - so keep your fingers crossed!
Whenever the show builds connection between Rebecca and the audience, the show then shows her getting hit by something negative from her fallout from the divorce. Whether it's Rupert being a rick, or the press deciding to whack her. The trauma keeps getting revisited upon her when shes just beginning yo dig herself out of it. Thats why it's such a triumph for her to go confess and ask for Ted's forgiveness, right on the heels of Rupert being the ultimate ass to her and hurting her ao deeply.
I’m an INFP and also a Pisces. We’re the emotional weirdos of the Zodiac. I hold grudges way too long. I would rather not, but I do. I’m trying to change that. I also once tested in the 98th percentile for my age in memory. And from everything I’ve read, we’re known for our emotions. It’s 2 fish swimming in opposite directions. I’m loyal as hell too.
I hope no one spoils the "British owl" joke for you - this show knows what it's doing. I love that Rebecca went to confess to Ted after Rupert came and emotionally destroyed her yet again - she realized that what she was doing wouldn't change anything when it came to him. She saw how evil causing emotional pain on purpose looked (finally) and what kind of person it was making her be, and that it was fruitless. As corny as it is, in order to heal you have to let some things go.
I got it before you said No Crying in Baseball, I just had to pause and hear Tom Hanks in my head, going after Stillwell Angel. A League of their Own, of course 😍 Apologies for something you didn’t do is sooo British. You fit right in. 👍🏻
15:05 if only it was that simple. Jamie on contract is a City player and most likely Richmond got him on loan in August begining of the season. You can only buy or loan players in The begging or mid season in the January transfer window peorid. This being last game is most likely in april or june. City always have a option to recall a player if they deem thier loan isnt beneficial or they want the player back. So sadly there is no way for Richmond to get jamie back intime for the final match
Funny, I was trying to think of “we’re gonna win” movie….and at that moment notification popped up of another reactor reacting to A League of their own 🤯
I only caught this maybe the 2nd or third time I watched this show, but when Ted signs his divorce papers, he does so with his left hand. Not a huge thing, but when I watched that episode on repeat I remember thinking: "Oh yeah, he's left handed"
They can’t just get Jamie back, I understand the sentiment but players can only move during transfer windows (between seasons and the month of January) that also mostly includes loans. Jamie is owned by Manchester City, he would cost a fee Richmond would probably struggle to afford currently and plays for a top team in Europe. They only had him on loan as city are so good and Jamie is young but he’s the best player for Richmond. Because his loan was terminated which the owning club has a right to do if they feel the player isn’t progressing with game time etc they can do that out of window I believe. Basically Jamie is a star despite his attitude and technically you can’t just willy nilly trade players whenever you like. Vast sums of money and other factors are involved in transfers and even loans. As it’s just before the last game the transfer window is closed. :) no hate just thought I’d fit all the info in here ❤ Football is Life 💎 🐕
Fantastic episode. I expected her apology but never expected her to tell him everything. You can see on his face, he doesn’t think about forgiving her until she says ‘All you good people, just trying to make a difference’ Love keeley keeping onto her to tell Ted.

For the record Danny was singing the theme song in Spanish when he was running on the treadmill
Wow! I didn’t know that! Thank you!
This was the episode that won her the Emmy!!! LOVE this show so much!!!
Episode 9 and Nikki is still trying to make Lasshoes happen. 😂😂
Steven: that's inappropriate 😂😂
Lol I'll never give up 😂

The fact that it never occurred to me that Ted would just forgive Rebecca made me look and change myself as a person.

Worth looking up for a chuckle is a clip from Sesame Street where Brett Goldstein runs into Oscar the Grouch.
There’s a video of all of his Sesame Street clips in the episode he was on. Apparently, Brett is a huge Muppets fan, so being on the show was a highlight of his life!

I have been waiting for the amazing couple's reaction on this amazing show ❤️
Rebekah could ave become more angry and not told Ted. Instead she gave him a genuine apology bc she knows how it feels to be betrayed.

You guys are awesome
Brett Goldstein did guest star on an episode of Sesame Street. The letter of the day was F.
I only caught this maybe the 2nd or third time I watched this show, but when Ted signs his divorce papers, he does so with his left hand. Not a huge thing, but when I watched that episode on repeat I remember thinking: "Oh yeah, he's left handed"

You guys would love Brett Goldstein's visit to Sesame Street and his visit to Oscar the Grouch. 💚

A good quote but not as great as the signed ball with "Avoid the Clap."
But the throwing of the mitt at Stillwell Angel was iconic.
That’s good advice

Great line from a true gentleman.

Yes!! Love this ep. Messi is the GOAT, agreed.
What does a British owl say?
I don't know. What?
No! It says Who!! Duh!
Stop - take this down
Gotta watch Roy (Brett) on Sesame Street. And then when you are done with this show please watch Shrinking.
Random, but please consider Bend It Like Beckham ❤. I have a feeling you'll both love itA
❤❤❤
Please react to "Jason Sudeikis & Hannah Waddingham Shallow cover" & "Brendan Hunt & Hannah Waddingham Love shack cover"
The only criticism I have guys is you are only do one episode a week 😂
well that's changing this week 😁😁
The way I clicked so fast! 😂
