My grandson's mother(my daughter-in-law) passed away when he was two yrs old. When he was older, he asked if he could call me, Mom. I told him, I'm your grandma, not your Mom but you can call me Ma. So that's what he calls me. I'm Ma to him.
But in Pittsburgh, moms are mums.
