Hat Yai is famous for cheap clothing and Hat Yai Plaza Market is a great place to grab some bargains. The area is open from about 9:00am to 5:00pm daily, but many shops close in the afternoon. You’ll find Hat Yai Plaza Market near the clock tower just north of the city between Montri 1 and Montri 2 Roads. It’s about a 15 minute walk from the CBD. The Google Maps Coordinates for the market are: 7.011343, 100.468782
    The shops at Hat Yai Plaza are mainly retailers, but some are wholesalers with a minimum of 3 or 6 items. It isn’t very touristy market but it’s a great place for cheap shopping or to buy gifts for friends! There are hundreds of shops under one roof and 3 floors of shops there. You’ll find all sorts of items at Hat Yai Plaza: men’s, women’s & children’s wear, denim & jeans, blouses, dresses & shirts, t-shirts, bras and underwear, baby clothes and everything else you might need for your infant (cots, prams & toys), traditional Thai and Asian design clothes, surf & skate wear, sportswear, lingerie, Disney and superheroes clothes, sweaters & jackets, shoes, jewelry, watches & clocks, travelware, electrical goods, souvenirs, CDs & DVDs, pharmacies, hair salons and fabrics and textiles. And if you’re hungry you’ll find Thai street food vendors and lots of restaurants in the area too. Hat Yai Plaza has it all!
    There’s also a huge food market open on the road behind Hat Yai Plaza in the afternoons. For more on the food market check out the video I made there here: • Street Food & Shopping...

    Most of these merchandise and products are also available here in malaysia. In fact some retailers and wholesalers import them frm thailand. I wont tire myself walking around.went thru that painful experience at chatchucak market in bangkok. Maybe other travel lovers enjoy patronising it.

    Great look at the Hat Yai: Hatyai Plaza Market, looks like a very interesting place. I am always drawn to the electronics though

      +Michael Wilson Thanks Michael. Yes, it is a very interesting place. There was a bit of electronics stuff here, but there was another market nearby, Yong Dee Market that had lots more electronics stuff. Pantip Plaza in Bangkok is the most famous place in Thailand for electronics shopping though, there's a video I made of it here: th-cam.com/video/TMDAy3VPp3A/w-d-xo.html

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bobcat1963 Thanks very much. Yes, I live in Thailand. The price varies hugely depending on the style, quality, etc. For a shirt, pants & shoes at this market you could spend anywhere from around 250 baht to 8,000 baht.

    Hi can you please do a video on pratunam market and other shopping places around that area? Specifically for clothes, shoes and bags

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Pratunam market video I made a while back here: th-cam.com/video/DXspZQUdhBE/w-d-xo.html
      There's also a video I made at Bobae market, which is the cheapest wholesale clothes market in Bangkok here: th-cam.com/video/j3rmulRK4yg/w-d-xo.html. Unfortunately I live 850 km from Bangkok so I don't get there that often.

    Well I finally caught up. One thing I noticed is that you haven't done much on your background. I'm thinking about moving to Thailand next year and have picked three areas of the country. Krabi Town in the south, Phitsanulok in the middle and Chiang Rai in the north. How did you end up in Thailand and why did you decide on Krabi Town?

    • @darrenb3
      @darrenb3  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +laserguy Good work :). Yes, there will be more on my background coming in the months ahead. I went to Krabi in 2012 for a 3 week holiday and loved it. I got back to Australia and found I was missing Thailand, so I booked another trip and 10 weeks later I went back to Krabi for another 18 day holiday. While I was there I started thinking that Krabi might be where I wanted to live. I got back to Australia and found I was missing Thailand again, so I spent the next 7 months organising my affairs and then moved to Krabi. I decided on Krabi because I'd made friends there and I loved it there.

    A lot of cheap mass produced goods there. Some stuff is a good deal and the rest is garbage.
