The videos that you've made have been such a gift during a pandemic! Not being able to spend time with students on campus has been challenging, but your teaching will be so helpful for my MLT students. Thank you!
@@bioprofaz I'm at Shoreline Community College in Washington state. And I'm a brand new teacher. Started just before the lockdown hit hard. We're not allowed back on campus for a couple more weeks. This week they were supposed to get to do gram stains. So sad for them, but this really REALLY helps!
DAMN!!! I love this video as a "casual" trying to get into the game!.... She BALLS OUT once we start taking about LIPID LAYERS!!! LOVE IT.... I'm watching out for those gram positives! The other thing I learned from her video is to NOT get oil on my 40x lens!!
i believe you just saved me for my lab practical. You are an awesome teacher..I understand the purple and pink for the + and - now!!!!! Thank you. I should be paying you for my class hahaha!!
Thank you very much for the video. Does anyone know where I can get the slide rack shown in the video. I am trying to do some in-home staining with my 8 year old for her science fair.
Lab coats are required when working with hazardous materials ...At a minimum, a equivalent protective clothing is required for work. Like gloves and goggles.
Bacteria were not applied nor fixed to the slide. This is surely an important step. It would have helped if the danger with alcohol (decolorizer) and bunsen flame were mentioned.

Thank you very much
Wonderful..Thanks
thanks for the video
despite your violation of safety protocol by not using a labcoat, your performance and explaining would put my bacteriology teacher to shame!
She's not working with any contagious bacteria. There's no need.
Chemists don't mess with bacteria at all and still lab coat is mandatory in any situation.

crystal violet
mordant - iodine (gram + complexes remains purple)
Alcohol washes off gram -ve to become colorless
Stain with safranin - gram - becomes pink
nice job
need to do just the gram stain, students have been taught about the antibiotics and gram pos and neg...
+Cissie Twitty are you assuming every single youtube viewer who watches this video is a student and proficient in Microbiology?
My lab book says to allow the crystal violent to stay on for 30 seconds and the iodine for 1 minute......
This is great. In fact, I am short of words.
