I just started watching Barry last week and just got past season 2 ep 5, and gah damn is this show fookin brilliant and hilarious

Barry is just so good. The half-hour episodes was a brilliant idea. Every moment counts, and they do it so well.
Leave it to Bill Hader to pull out a Winkler impression. It was subtle but very funny.
Barry is so damn good. It blows me away every time
Barry got dark as hell all the way through season 3 but that scene of Winkler running through the backyard while 30 dogs were chasing him made me laugh harder than anything so far this year. Love how they sprinkle the absurdist David Lynchian humor across the dark clouds.
Bill did not lie... it gets darker, and the finale is wonderfully intense.
My favourite sports story-teller and my favourite show story-teller together...what a treat! Barry...sui generis...the only show sharing the top of the mountain with Succession for absolute excellence in writing, acting, directing, and cinematography.

Bill Hader is hilarious! Such a completely different type of show! It's not even really a true comedy series... I love seeing him grow as an actor! Most of the former SNL people don't do much serious acting 🤔 Sandman has a few roles that aren't outright comedies (Punch drunk love 🤯/Reign over me 🔥😢) Bill's work with South Park is awesome too! He wrote the Kanye Fish Sticks episode 👌😆🤣

Barry reminds me of the HAL9000 computer in "2001." Unresolvable contradictions in his psyche have driven him insane, in much the same way irreconcilable aspects of HAL9000's programming led to its attempt to "protect the mission" by murdering the astronauts.
@WildwoodClaire1 That's interesting. But, HAL9000's "brain" was picked apart and ultimately broken. The surviving astronaut was reborn.
