Even though the inventor of the GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) supposedly pronounced it like the peanut butter brand, that doesn't mean he's right. "Graphics" starts with a hard "G" sound, so the acronym would also use that hard "G" sound. EVERYONE pronounced it the correct way for at least 2 decades before some poseur decided that they wanted their peanut butter pronunciation to be the "in-the-know" way to say it. When I worked at CompuServe, we pronounced it with a hard "G".
BTW, Tommy Pham would say "JIF", because he is the farthest thing from a "Hard G" you can possibly be.
