Did you roll the UTV after dropping down off the jack, if not those measurements won't be accurate. Curious of the real height after install after you settle the suspension.
Thanks for the videos! I was wondering if you plan to do a more in depth review of the schmidty racing dual rate spring kit? I would be interested in hearing more of your opinions regarding the differences in ride between stock and with Schmidty kit. Thanks
Hey I put my super ATV arched-arms on and my Schmitt racing springs it looks great I have 2021 KE Blue Silver and black so the silver springs match great and I powder ciated the tender springs blue to match the bike. I also put the Method race wheels 15” wheels with the 32” TR 370 tires. I’m running a l4+3 offset so I gained 1.5” overall width. When I set it down off the jack it had 22” to the jack and I wasn’t expecting that much from 14.5” but after riding it around it settled in to 18.5” in rear and 17” inch in the front. I’m not sure why I have so much more than you got.
@@IslandMudSlingers I ordered the blue but I’m wondering if they sent the wrong ones I have put weight in the back and hit a few jumps to settle them down and now I’m at 19”. They seem a little stiffer than I was hoping for so hopefully after some rides they will loosen up. My front has settled to 16”.
@@IslandMudSlingers yea I asked them how I could tell and they told me to check all my measurements but didn’t answer the question if I could have got the heavy ones. It’s down to 18 1/4” now
@@IslandMudSlingers Now that I thought about it more I'll probably do the high clearance arms like you did. Even if I have to make some custom guards 🤔
I just received my spring kit and am excited to get these babies installed. One thing I'm curious about is whether or not the shock mount bolts should be loc-tite'd. I have the required torque specs but was curious if you added any loc-tite to yours?
Great info , Being waiting to see these springs installed since you mention them in one of your other videos ,now I will be waiting to hear a report how the Rmax handles with the suspension improvements , has the extra lift change the CV joint angle much ? I have the same unit (all stock) and I am looking for a better ride. With larger tires some guys install a slug kit in the wet clutch in some of the other yamaha models,I haven't seen much out there for Rmax clutching.
Thanks ! and soon I will have a review up ! The cv angles have changed but knowing how I ride I'm at max sag in suspension anyways so I'm not concerned with cv axle angle. We will see how things go though. I would recommend leaving the clutching alone and maybe just changing the weights in the rollers in the primary clutch. Will keep everyone up to date on how things go on this suspension kit.
@@IslandMudSlingers it is rare that I hang on the edge of my seat waiting for a TH-cam video to drop from anyone but I am eagerly waiting for the test ride lol.
Enjoy your video's. My main question is people say stock tenders are flattened out. But does Yamaha do this for a reason? And with the overall lift of the new springs does that affect the cv axle angles? I sure wouldn't want to put anymore stress on them. With a shortage of parts 🙄
Thanks ! Very good question and honestly I think it a slight flay in the design when they built the Rmax. But I don't know for sure. The angles have changed a bit but the way we ride iv got my axle angels maxed out a lot any ways. But I'm sure I will break another axle someday, mostly not due to just the angle. Most likely due to the front wheels coming off the ground. That's how I broke one of my fronts before.
Another question: How are your axles holding up after the Schmidty Racing spring install. I watched a couple of your "After Install" video's and they seem to be working really well. Breaking a stock axle is very concerning for me due to availability. Thanks for the AWESOME informational videos!
So far no issues yet ! I'm very impressed with the set up. A lot of the time when an axle is broken its when its at max angle or lock to lock. So considering that the only time I'm at max angle is when I'm in nasty terrain. With the oem springs my unit would still be at the same angle when in the nasty terrain. So I would say its not gonna change the chance to break the axle. When driving on flat ground, yes the angle is different but the likely hood of someone breaking an axle just by driving down a road is highly unlikely. So for me I'm not worried because I know that when I do break another axle it will be because of the terrain I'm in an how much juice I'm giver her, or if my tires come off the ground then suddenly hit the ground while I'm giving it power. I hope this answer helps. And thanks ! I appreciate that. 😄
Hey Mike I installed the medium springs. the front sits down about 1,5 compared to the rear. Does your rmax sit level or should i leave it as its sits. keep up the great content. Thanks for any input you may have.
Did you order the Medium or Heavy spring setup from Schmidty? My buddy just bought and installed the Medium setup and his preload adjustment for the front springs was 1/16" and yours was 1-7/16". Inquiring minds need to know!
Hey thanks bit all the videos they are helpful. I have a RMAX LE and was thinking about adding the super ATV rear arched a-arms are they worth it? Also I was thinking about installing the super ATV 2” bracket lift do you know anything about them will it ride a lot rougher I know the 2” spacer lift makes it very stiff? After seeing your video about your new springs I’m wondering if I should get those instead of the lift. Thx
Thanks ! and I would say the arched rear arms are a MUST ! Huge help in my opinion . And for lifts... I don't like them because they change the factory mounting for the shocks which can then change drive angles. Doing the new springs did change the angles but with in the range that these rigs are designed to operate in. If you are looking for cheap ground clearance then a lift is the way. But if you want to change your Rmax then get the Schmidty springs.
@@IslandMudSlingers ok thanks for your feed back I also am looking to replace my wheels and tires and was wanting to get the same 32” XTR370 You have are you happy with them my only concern they are very heavy a lot heavier than the cornevour tires how much did it hurt your power?
@@IslandMudSlingers I ordered my arched a-arms and my springs yesterday and I plan on ordering the XTR 370 32” tires as well.
