Hey If you are struggling to do your hair with one hand in a ponytail. What I used to do was get someone else to tie my hair in a ponytail and then practice wrapping another hairband round my ponytail just to get the practice of how to wrap the hairband round the hair. This might be a way that you could maybe progress to doing your hair in a ponytail with one hand. if you are struggling. I hope this tip helps you but I know you will get there in doing your hair it just takes practice.
Hi Chiara, I looked you up just now on Instagram and on TH-cam as my 89 year old mother was reading your article in a health magazine called Brain & Life through her health insurance she receives the magazines each month. We live on the east coast of Florida on the space coast near where our space shuttle launch is. Thank you for sharing your story in these videos and in the magazine and helping others to make life a little easier. ❤ 🌴🏖🌞 it's been a bit more chilli this year in the winter. 🥶
I'm in complete awe, I had a stroke in 2020, left side paralysis, and I haven't been able to put my own hair up; but now thanks to you I feel comfortable trying again. Thank you so much!!
i had a stroke a week and a half ago and dexterity is something that i still haven’t gotten back, i am so glad i found your channel. you are so beautiful, and thank you for such informational content. you don’t realize all the small things you take for granted before you lose your ability to do such things
I can't thank you enough ma'am. I had given up trying, and for years I we just shaved my head. I had decide just to let my hair down always, but I really just want my hair tied back. Then I found your video. I only watched it ONCE and now I can tie my hair. So thank you very much! you have made a very big difference in my life :)
I’m having left shoulder replacement surgery soon, and fortunately, I’m right handed, however, as I always put my hair up in a high ponytail, or a messy bun, I’ve been bummed thinking it’ll be at least six weeks or more before I can do that again. I do have the additional problem that I am 5 or 6 months into growing my bangs out, so they tend to give me a lot of grief getting them into the ponytail and staying. Hairspray is a great idea for all my loose wings. Your video was great and I’m going to start practicing now. ❤❤❤ I’m really impressed with your skill at doing this! Your work with those hairpins is crazy!
Just found your video, I fractured my right arm last October 2023 although its on the mend I couldn't tie my hair up, but thanks to you I tied it up for the first time today it was a bit of a struggle but I done it, thank you!
I have had one arm due to a bicycle accident for 27 years and it's nice to see someone like me with a positive attitude! My hair isn't long enough just yet to use my shoulder but it will get there someday. Thank you for getting my brain thinking again.
Thank you so much ! You are so strong, beautiful, and confident ! My mom had a stroke years ago . She won't do her own hair . she doesn't think she can, but she likes it long .I went looking for this video to show her one step . I'm trying to show her it is possible to keep living with her disability . This is one step of independence you might be able to give to her . Thank you .
Thank you!! Ifractured my left arm and have very long hair. I'm having so much difficulty doing my hair in a ponytail (& bun). Thanks to you, I have hope of not being dependent on others. THANK YOU!!!!!
This is so cool. I had a brain injury 8 years ago with similar effects to a stroke; hemiplegia, dystonia etc etc. despite being 8 years ago and struggling a lot with my image as a young woman, I’ve never tried to do anything like this as I feel I couldn’t. But this is so useful to see how you’ve mastered it all ❤
Thank you so much for sharing! My daughter had a terrible triad injury and is adapting to her new limitations. She loves her pony tails and told me it really upset her to think she could never put her hair in a pony tail again. I searched TH-cam and found you! Thank you! I'm sharing this with her today!
this is great to see another perspective of how a stroke survivor does a one handed pony! i had a stroke a few years ago myself and still struggle most days and try to avoid putting my hair up but this was actually very helpful!
I also suffered a massive stroke when I was 16 years old and 5 monthes pregnant it was almost 10 years ago as of today and it was very difficult adjusting the disability of only having one hand I’m paralyzed on my left side
You are amazing. I have RA and it completely damaged my shoulder joint, now only having a good arm. I will absolutely give this a try as I am always struggling to try putting my hair together and I can’t. Such an inspiration ❤
this is such a great tutorial! thank you so much! I have surgery tomorrow on my hand and elbow so I'll be doing my hair like this for a few months, very appreciative of you! :) well wishes ~💖
Same here...I am recovering from a broken elbow and I cannot get my right hand up to my face. Thank you so much for your video and by the way, you are beautiful and awesome!
@@MontagZoso I hope u get better I had a compound fracture which means my bone popped out I’m finally able to do stuff and I’m sooo thankful hope you can get back to normal again too
Thank you! I had a stroke three years ago. They shaved my head for my craniotomy and cranioplasty and I’ve been very determined to keep my hair long ever since. Which means my caretaker has to pull My hair back. This is super helpful. Thank you!
Thank you very much sweet darling.... Your sharp mind is amazing to me... I have a birth injury that caused a head, neck and left arm injury... You have given me something very special and I'll always think of you as I tried to do my pony tail... You give.. you're not whining about your issue... You are explaining and teaching an expanding people's imagination and hopefully kindness.. thank you again you beautiful spirit
Great idea with the shoulder usage. I've bought one hand accessories to help, but they don't work well. I'm definitely going to try this trick. I also have hemiplegia from a haemorrhagic stroke 11 years ago at 25.
Thanks for this video! Like a lot of other people in the comments I broke my arm last week and getting my hair to behave has been a struggle techniques might be common sense to you at this point, like moving your hair over your shoulder before scooping it up but they made my life so much easier. I’m definitely going to be binge watching the rest of your hair videos!
I'm so glad my video helped! It took me a long time to figure out how to do a ponytail with one hand too. Let me know if there's anything particular you want to see on my youtube channel
Thank you so much for posting this video . I lost my arm in 2018 above elbow and have always had long hair until I got my amputation and then I cut it all off really really short. I’m now 3 years in and I’m growing my hair back to long. It’s videos like this that really can make a huge difference in lives. Thank you again ❤️ you are amazing. x
I received an injury in my dominant arm almost three years ago and have finally arrived at the point where I can't raise it anymore. Thank you for this, your are life saver
Thank you! I have chronic pain and it has recently started in my arms, which is super unusual. I could use two hands if I really needed to but it would hurt a lot, so seeing this method and how well it works is awesome!
I have been looking for 11 years for a one handed ponytail video without someone who has a stump. As that’s not a true one handed ponytail stroke survivors or ppl w hemipeleagia are genuinely without use of one side. I survived 7 massive strokes in my early 20’s and am now a left hemipealgic. Thankfully my fiancé has learned to put my ponytail in but if I’m not w him or home w family I will give ur tactics a go! Thank you for the help. N keep going strong
This is great but my hair is medium length, I want to try and do a half up half down style, I have no use of left hand and arm due to stroke 5 years ago. Im 35 next month
Hi lovely, I was watching your video seeing how you put your hair in a ponytail which is very good but I was thinking if you used a headband only while putting up your hair it would stop the bobbly bits of your hair from sticking out. Just saying because I have cerebral palsy in my right hand. 💕💕💕
Hi, thank you for your comment. It took me a long time and lot of practice to be able to tie a ponytail. I think you maybe holding your ponytail too tightly with your finger, I let my finger slip around the ponytail whilst twisting it. The ponytail should then stay as a twisted tail of hair allowing you to clamp it on your shoulder and put a tie on. I hope this is helpful and you find away to do a ponytail. My finger does still get stuck sometimes
This video made it totally easy I tried it but my only failure is my parents blessed me with super curly n frizzy hair but it’s super long n thick compared to what it was before my stroke
I've had a severe arm dislocation that has torn muscles, tendons and nerves. I appreciate your instructional but being male, when out of the hospital will probably go back to a short men's. But before that, I'm going to practice your way. Shoulder reconstruction is tomorrow. All the with you. I'm a senior and would hate a stroke.
I'm sorry you're finding this difficult. It took me a long time to find a good technique too and hopefully you will find a technique that will work for you It just takes a bit of practice and Somedays I get someone who uses two hands to do my hair because sometimes it’s just easier. You could always get someone else to tie your hair up in a ponytail and then practice putting another hairband round the ponytail band just to get the feel of how to put a hairband on the hair with one hand. Hope this helps.
I just cut it. And if I try this technique I need to keep my hair long. I can't focus on things on a daily basis so I just cut it short and wear a hairband or a hat.

Hello, what a coincidence I have just posted a video of my leg and how it has been affected by my stroke. once again thanks for your comment
