Definitely, it’s technique that is important. Here in dubai I personally drive a pajero 2020 4 door LWB. The tyre PSI should be 15 or lower depending on sand quality. Plus you need to have the right driving technique.

I like both the cars but Jimny has evolved from Gypsy which has an experience of serving the Indian Army and something that has served the Army will obviously had some edge that has been passed on to the next generation. If I had enough money I will love to buy both the cars on the same day.

I own a new thar 4*4 and a old version gypsy. Gypsy is lighter which is the only advantage of gypsy and that is why it perform better. However, if you change the tyres of the thar and really know how to drive it, it will cut any obstacle be it mud, slush, sand like a hot knife. The power is sufficient. But if you are on a tight budget you can go for jimmy.
I wish Jimny had 6 speed torque convertor and K15C engine, but maruti chose for stock clearance of this gearbox and engine combination while launching it in India. WTF!! 🤬

Thar needs 18.inch rims and not.these 20 inches. Also for thar in deep sand recommended pressure is 12 to 14 psi for stock tyres. Otherwise yhe car will definitely sink.

They have manual differential lock, thar has automatic differential locking. Manual diff locks are way better
