Crue played this live on their first show at the Starwood on April 24, 1981. I've had this song for years, on multiple bootlegs, and it has never sounded this good.
Vince sounds so young ! I love the rawness of the song. It's sad but Sexy so 🔥🔥🔥! Vince will for ever be my favorite singer of all times. Vince's unique voice lured me to the Mötley Crüe 🤘 Thank You Vince ❤
I can’t believe I’ve been a fan all these years, but never heard this! I gave up on them in the 90s. Theatre of Pain wasn’t great, but I saw them in Atlanta that year. Old Crue is my shit. Love this!!!!
This song was originally released on the "Lewd, Crued & Tattooed DVD. Obviously there was some malfunction with the tape they didn't realize before going to press. The Crue has always tuned in D standard, the audio from "Lewd, Crued and Tattooed" is in C#. Trust me, I've tried to transcribe it. It was just a problem with the audio they used for the DVD.
Oh dear god! This is incredible! I have been a huge Motley fan since the first 45 release and can’t believe I’ve never heard this! So many songs I’m finding on bootlegs that were never released and it blows me away! One song I will never understand why Rodeo wasn’t on the first release Girls album? That was an easy #1. Black widow is insane too! Damn so many that would have been massive hits and honestly still can be. Just release all the raw tracks on a single release LP. I will buy it immediately and add some London stuff in there too! Nikki is the best song writer that’s ever been. We want more Nikki! 😉
Nobody knows what it’s like to be lonely What it’s like to be lonely What it’s like to be lonely Nobody knows what it’s like to be lonely What it like to be lonely To be alone High time to face to the pain Well time to face the youth of today Time to face the strange TImes to face the music if you dare I've got the power And I've got the power I've got the power And I've got the power Yeah, I've got the power But it’s still hard to win, you're all alone Nobody knows what it’s like to be lonely What it like to be lonely To be alone Nobody knows what it’s like to be lonely What it like to be lonely To be alone High time to face to the pain Well time to face the youth of today Time to face the strange TImes to face the music if you dare I've got the power And I've got the power I've got the power And I've got the power Yeah, I've got the power But it's still hard to win, you're all alone Oh yeah come on Hey time to face to the pain Time to face the youth of today Well, Time to face the strange TImes to face the music if you dare I've got the power Cause I’ve got the power Oh I've got the power Yeah I've got the power I got the power And I got the power Cause I got the power And I got the power I got the power And i got the power Yeah i got the power I’ve got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power I got the power But it's still hard to win you’re all alone
It;s Vince people. He sand this way low...& awesome. & yes O'Dean I believe did rehearse this before Vince. Man how did they not release some of these jems properly on the albums?
it got messed up when the recording was rendered. there are a couple of live videos out there of this and he didn't sing this low and the tuning is off.
Totally remember Nikki talking about this song in Circus magazine in 1984. He was saying it maybe on their next album ("Theatre Of Pain"). He said it was influenced by Cheap Trick. xoxo The Clarences

Gosh, you should learn to read then. I've read "The Dirt" a dozen of times. They did rehearsed the song with O'Dean. Rehearsed, not recorded. Every real Crüe fan hears, that this is DEFINETELY Vince Neil singing there. Especially yet alone the part 1:50 - 2:20. Thanks a LOT for posting this!
its gotta be vince no one else sang like this before liek 83/84 and i have this feeling something happend with this demo like an error and it was put up like slower thna it shoulda been i dno coz it does sound weird and the faster version sounds more like vinces pitch
Folks have suggested speeding up to 1.5, but I think 1.25 sounds better.....The speed up does make the ending sound strange. You can always chop that off and it doesn't affect the song.
It was, I'm guessing the tape that this was sourced from was damaged. This is almost a full step down from where Motley usually tunes to. The guitar tuning on this is close to C standard, when they've always played a D standard.
@@marlonbrando5794 Not quite, the speed they played it at the Starwood in 81 is much closer to this recording sped up by about 10 percent (putting it back in their normal tuning).
Why wouldn’t you? His voice is often “tweaked” on other songs which is why he can sometimes sound horrible on live recordings. I mean, yes age & hard living take a toll, that & being fucked up on stage later in his career there are obvious moments of “Ahhhk!” But Vince had Amazing range in the beginning, & they loved tweaking their recordings with cool innovative sounds. I really like this song. So many of the reportedly 77 - 127 different songs I’ve found on multiple playlists have not just different versions but unreleased songs I hadn’t heard yet. It’s like a little box of Treasure you find buried deep in the pile of Gems that already exist! Some super great songs that pull me back to a lot of Motley’s early days! The rawness. The energy!! The amazing, blow you- out-of-the-water- MICK MARS riffs & melodies that man can play! Shit! He was a “Guitar God” back from DAY ONE! The videos are like those hidden diamonds in the sea, that once you polish them off & see what you got, your in disbelief! They were so in sync, so perfectly orchestrated, that you feel like they’d been together for years! The ones from 1981 especially give me goosebumps! I love the Dirty white bedsheet hanging for their backdrop. Tommy’s simple drum kit that he enhanced quite nicely in about a year! And Rock God Nikki’s amazing outfits! Him & Vince had the sexiest outfits ever! Nikki had a remarkable vision from day 1! Because (I’ve said it before) NO OTHER BAND has self promoted themselves & achieved such over night success as they have! Not within 1 - 2 years like they did. It was even harder back then to get the notoriety they needed to be heard everywhere & successful but THEY did it! And if you played backup with them, it was an absolute guarantee you were heard, you were noticed, you were signed, you were promoted & you were “MADE”! Poison, Whitesnake, Guns & Roses, Cinderella, Warrant... and many others. 🤘🏼🤗💕💋. To me, they will always be the very best band in existence that prevails & that brought a unique & mind blowing sound to Hard Rock. They combined so many factors together & created THEIR sound which became the template for hard rock/glam rock/ heavy metal & a sound that 100’s of bands copied. Even though there were bands that played a few great songs of the heavy metal genre before & during their success, only the CRUE stayed consistent with their own music. (We’ll forget the John Corobi days-sorry for misspelling) because I personally didn’t care for that darker, deeper sound of Generation Swine recordings. Apparently the fans didn’t either because of the massive sales drops and small attendances they garnered. Vince IS the Sound of Mötley Crüe. Which is pretty much why we forgive him when he sounds like shit! It’s still Vince! With a workout set of pipes!! 😊🤘🏼💕💋
its vince neil A LONG TIME AGO before he blew out vocals and blew up weight wise. Its him and voice is not altered You need to hear more of their studio recordings and other covers etc...He had a decent voice at one time
What's interesting about t his version is that I don't think it's Vince singing.....there was a guy named O'Dean who was with them for a very short time they mention in The Dirt about this original demo that this guy sang on.....this is a real find, thanks for posting :)

One of the best frontman.
He is an awesome singer💗
I love it, every song I know from Mötley, I like it and I just discovered this song, the voice of vinnie puff 🔥🤘🏼👅🔥
Wow Vince singing in a deeper tone, this sounds awesome💗 Wish they released this on an album
this song is badass.. how this song, black widow, and running wild, never made it onto an album is beyond me.
Toast of the town would’ve been a smash hit.

They should have put this on the album
Play it on 1.25 speed. Trust me.
Thank you for that 🙏🏼🙏🏼
You're crazy, but right.
No
Too fast for the 16th notes on the hit hat
WORD
This is why The Crue have been my favorite band since 1983.
I love this song and I always wondered why they never put in any album.
I've wondered if it wasn't because it resembles the then-current Scorpions song "The Zoo" a little too much.
Love the guitar work at the beginning. Reminds me of the olden, golden days.
crue fan since 7yrs old . vince sounds good 👍

I have no fucking clue why they didn't release this
TheAerofan6 I thought the same about the song Rodeo. That’s an awesome song
@@MetalMayhem1978 your right rodeo is great
It was released in 2000 on the "lewd crude & rude" dvd as a bonus feature
It actually sounds like they recorded it then slowed down the track. It's got a Sabbath sound to it.

Mick Mars for the win!
Biff Malibu hands down.
this is great raw to the bone its called filling the fucking music thank.s
CLEARLY VINCE NEIL
Love that bass line, nikki is a great and cool bass player, change my mind
He's junk. Everyone who has had him in a studio knows this. This bass line is beginner level. Not much needed.
Oh Come on.! Not back then but he did improve for sure..😮

Fuckin love it since the first time i heard it on the DVD Lewd Crued and Tattoed
Thanks for remastering this 'demos', it is greatly appreciated!
Nikki Sixx posted this song on twitter. Like like :)
Had this on bootleg mid 80's!
Bro this song is bad ass and if they realesed sheesh it was go number one👏
In this era (2022) it would not chart. USA's listening preferences are not rock and metal anymore, I wish it was though. If its not Taylor swift pop it isn't charting in USA. Rock and Metal are dying in America. It's sad but true.
Rock is not dying, it's just on a bad phase. It will chart again in another decade, when the pop and rap trend finally dies.
badass
Play at 1.25 speed.

Love some Motley Crue
Adjust the speed up to 1.5 and this song ROCKS
fucking true. this is vince singing...

this song sounds like it was slowed down a bit

Heard of Vince Neil?

Yes I've heard of Vince Neil. Played in a band called Christmas before Motley Crue.
Ok so is there not an accurate speed of this song anywhere? Im in love with this song

They did record a version of this song with the singer before Vince. I've read The Dirt and Tommy talked about it.
ThrashMetal1001 your full of shit
Nah, Motley Crue had a singer before vince. Its True
UMG Matt Yup. And he wouldn't take his damn white gloves off to clap hahaha
They rehearsed with O'dean, never recorded with him.
Jonathon Mourcella they recorded with O’Dean. In Vinces book he said Tommy handle him to his house a demo so he can learn the songs
I like that )
