Everything about that piano part was perfect! The sort of "dreamy" notes and hesitation at 3:40 capture the mood of his closeup, as he's surprised by what she's asked him. Then the notes at 3:57 convey a sort of "puzzlement", as they each sit there trying to interpret what just happened.
I was casually listening, someone asked me something and when I popped my phones back in I heard "ALIEN VAMPIRE... MOVES IN FOR THE KILL" and thought I'd spaced out and ended up in another video. Brilliant. XD
13:35 the music drowns out the man's line, "quite far, actually". Would be better if it were dialed down a bit during his line, and then ramped up for her closeup, as she now knows he's vulnerable and she's got him right where she wants him.
Wow, you had me at 4:16 😢 lol that was great. I was thinking before you started leave the click on. But to take it off and freestyle wow. I can't wait to get started now with doing that too. Thank you very much for that information. 👍
Hey Guy! It just goes to show you, the power of how you can turn an innocent kiss scenario... into a bloodsucking alien assault, through the power of music! Loved it!!!
So many questions..... Do you snap your notes on a grid ? How do you set tempo ? Specially if you want to write your score.... Your videos are excellent. Your "How to Write Music Course" is excellent too... Thanks to share you knowledge. See you on ThinkSpace Eduction ;-)
Firstly; What chord is the taxi engine? Next, where are the beats in the conversation. Now you can use the tonic of the engine to support or change key so it subverts and drains the scene - like a large dog panting for it's supper irrespective of the lovers wants or needs
Wonderful! It's so much power, isn't it?! You pretty much control the narrative with the music. The two versions are like two completely different films. (I didn't think the piano was cheesy). It's interesting how you could shift the suspicion from one of the actors to the other with just some minor changes. That Albion instrument is one of my faves. You mentioned scoring in free time. I'm very interested in learning how to manage that. It's something I do a lot, but get into a tizzy with. I lack the music theory knowledge to sort it out properly... Great video! Inspiring and informative. Thanks, Sunny.
Great videos as always! You have an ease of styles and a very pleasant way of teaching. Thank you for sharing it with us. You also switched to Cubase, I see. I switched from DP a few years ago... all I miss is the chunks.
Really solid cross platform performance - scripting and customisability - works absolutely brilliantly with VSL and as aDAW for really big templates its unbeatable I think at the moment. Batch export saves me enough time to go on holiday...
+Guy Michelmore Maybe there was a subconscious tip taken on from your time with Harry Gregson-Williams... and his instruction from Hans Zimmer to learn Cubase inside out! Great to have another Cubase user in the fold. Keep up the great work.
I have been moving onto Cubase for about 6 months but Im still a bit of a nube compared to DP which Ive used longer than Ive had kids ..... and my eldest is now a lawyer. Im loving it though and it is definitely the DAW to beat these days.
I love these videos. I was surprised by the switch to Cubase, too. I made the move to Studio One awhile back (after using Nuendo and Logic) which itself is pretty amazing, and have found that my productivity has increased dramatically.
I mean, if we spent ... 18 minutes watching you fiddle around, at least please, don't say ... "this is not the way you do it" >> in the last 3 seconds of the video :D :D ... - you could've started with that statement LOL (I'm 1/2 trolling, thank you for sharing, Guy. - upvoted)
Hi there, quick question, do you write for any private film makers or indi makers?
Kind regards Craig

"I'm gonna get rid of that" nooooooo that was perfect!

The trouble with your videos is they are so entertaining that I spend waaaaay too much time watching them rather than writing music.. :)
It's always great fun to watch you come up with musical ideas I'd never have and later call them rubbish :-) ...Keep on posting I love them.

His name is Guy lol
Guy: This is not rocket science.
Me: Let me fail miserably and prove you wrong.
Great video! :)
Why did you move from DP to Cubase?
Really solid cross platform performance - scripting and customisability - works absolutely brilliantly with VSL and as aDAW for really big templates its unbeatable I think at the moment. Batch export saves me enough time to go on holiday...
+Guy Michelmore hahaha, I see. Thank you! Really love your tutorials btw!

DP is good?
DP is great - lived with it for years, but we grew apart and became...well more like best friends? It was all very amicable...
skills
Great Video as always! :)
Wondered how long you've been using Cubase instead of DP?
Greetings from Germany
I have been moving onto Cubase for about 6 months but Im still a bit of a nube compared to DP which Ive used longer than Ive had kids ..... and my eldest is now a lawyer. Im loving it though and it is definitely the DAW to beat these days.

Romantic comedy turned into Thriller/Slasher/Horror flick. lmao
When he speaks on close up, my opinion, it doesn't quite work on that part, as he's speaking.
I mean, if we spent ... 18 minutes watching you fiddle around, at least please, don't say ... "this is not the way you do it" >> in the last 3 seconds of the video :D :D ... - you could've started with that statement LOL (I'm 1/2 trolling, thank you for sharing, Guy.

after hearing the first written piano part, the sound of the engine was incredibly irritating.
Still a better love story than twilight?
=)))) funny-scarry narrative
Great video! Have you switched to Cubase from Digital Performer? :)
