For all of Croatia’s neat and tidy possession they have no width or vertical threat. Nearly all of their possession is within the width of the penalty boxes, their wide players offer no threat getting to the end line, and they have nobody with pace up top to stretch the opponent’s back line. As a result, all their possession is very narrow, redundant and they are very easy to defend.

As an italian let me say that I agree completely with the bad performance throughout the tournament and we wont survive Switzerland playing like that, but no other in our group did better (spain should have been put into another league altogether if that was a thing). Croatia did nothing more than us and they even missed a penalty, Albania played well compared to what was expected but almost lose all matches without big complaints so i completely comxur saying Italy underperformed and is probably the worst italy team ever, and yet in this group it wasn't an undeserved achievement going through as second

For all of Croatia’s neat and tidy possession they have no width or vertical threat. Nearly all of their possession is within the width of the penalty boxes, their wide players offer no threat getting to the end line, and they have nobody with pace up top to stretch the opponent’s back line. As a result, all their possession is very narrow, redundant and they are very easy to defend.
They don’t have the pace or guys up front so they’re forced to play this possession style game. End of a generation for Croatia although I disagree with Craig they will fall off dramatically.
